      Good Oven...Compact Size

I've had this oven for about 4 months now. It does a really good job for quick, smaller portion items. Used it to toast bread and bagels and it works great. I've used the bake function many times as well with great results for things like tater tots, french fries, reheating leftovers, etc. It heats to desired temp much faster than our regular oven and uses less energy. I also like the size. I wanted something fairly small so it wouldn't take up a lot of space on my countertop and this worked great. Some of the ovens I was looking at were pretty large. To address my "What's not so great" comment...the sides and top are black which is fine, I guess. For looks, I wish it was stainless. Additionally, it comes with two racks for different methods of cooking. When I'm using the oven, I take the unneccecary rack out and put it on top. The paint is still fine but I worry if I do it long enough, it may scratch the paint on top. My recommendation is that if you don't have a regular oven, get a bigger convection toaster oven but if you already have a regular oven and just wanted something to replace a toaster but can also be used to reheat or cook small portion items...then this oven is for you. Also, if you don't have a lot of space, this one is great as it is one of the smaller decent ovens out there.

      Better than we expected!

This toaster oven was the third one we have purchased since we built the house. It replaced a Black and Decker toaster oven, albeit slightly smaller in size. Nothing against the B&D toaster ovens (of which we had 2 previously), but this particular toaster oven out performs them in every respect! The overall quality is apparent as soon as you lift it out of the box. It is also sturdier too. The size is a bit larger, which means it can cook larger items. The door, heating elements, and included cooking tray, are all made of very durable material and constructed to last. I have no doubt, after using this toaster oven for 3 months, that it will last a very long time. I’m not too crazy about the “feel” of the control knobs though. While they do perform well, they are a bit “light”, or maybe it would be better to describe them as “so easy to change the settings” that they “seem” cheap? They could have a better “feel” to them, but as long as they perform, they’re good. I think it would be unfair to take away a rating star based on my “feeling” of the controls, as others may like them. One other review I read online described the bell that alerts the owner that a cooking cycle is complete as “extremely loud”. We have not found it to be much louder than other toaster ovens, but rather it is a “more distinctive” bell than others.

      Great toaster!

The old B&D finally bit the dust and had to find a new toaster oven. We don't own a microwave in our home so the toaster oven gets used a lot. After reviewing the available current models this Cuisinart works great, and is quite reasonably priced. Nothing fancy about this model, but let's face it, bells and whistles are great, but not really necessary in a toaster oven and usually means it breaks sooner! This does everything you need and expect. It also is big enough to hold 6 pieces of toast, which is nice compared to my old one, which did 4. Has a toast and bagel setting, and a dial to get the level just right for your tastes. Very loud notification when done. Also has a warm setting for warming food, which we use a lot. Works equally well for baking or broiling with separate rack locations. I love BB and cannot stand supporting Amazuck. Thus, I always try to buy what I need at BB. So far so good, and if I did have a problem or didn't like BB is always great to work with and supports their customers completely. Thanks Best Buy!

nice compact design and reliable brand

I haven't owned a Cuisinart branded appliance in several years, and I do not know why I waited so long to treat myself to one. I was hesitant on "chucking" out my old, reliable toaster from Kitchen Aid, however I have not looked back since. This compact design fits perfectly under the counter with enough space to vent and breathe. I have already used it several times for heating frozen items at 400 degrees...let's just say this beauty gets hot fast and holds the temp as well, even after opening the front door to periodically check on the heating process. I would advise when using the toaster function (my first time the other day), if you prefer your toast a little crispier and slightly darker, then turn the knob down a bit, otherwise your prized pop tart may get super dark along the edges...LOL I highly recommend this item, especially if "space" is an issue on your counter tops, or if you prefer to use this more than your oven, so as to not heat up your kitchen from the main oven. I only wish that the front door was the double opening doors, and not have to pull downward...thanks !

      Door jammed

The toaster worked fine for the first 6 months of use. A few minor design quirks, but I didn't expect perfection. After month 6, the door began to jam when one tried to open it. The mechanism that keeps the door open/closed was galling on the interior. Nothing we tried worked. Finally, in the 8th month, when trying to extract a bagel, I must have twisted the door a bit while pulling -- the door glass (safety-glass) exploded across the kitchen. While exciting, I didn't want that kind of crunch in my bagel. All in all, not a bad toaster except for the catastrophic door fail and early retirement to the trash heap. Sad.

This is for replacement of Black and Decker's model after 6-7 yrs use. We are fan of Cuisinart products, so this model looked the one for us at the price point we bought. The core function is clearly better than the B&D, e.g. 4 element-high power heater, body construction, etc. We needed several rounds of use for us to get used to it, but after that, it works very well. One down side is No Timer. Cuisinart put "toast darkness" setting function instead, but it works only for the toast mode. We have to use a separate timer, but obviously, it does not turn the unit off when time comes. If it had a time, we could have given 5 stars. We also need to see durability of the heater elements per other reviews.

Works well as an oven and as a toaster

We bought this model to replace another Cuisinart convection toaster oven. Though it still worked, we decided to give it away and try this model with slightly different features. This model has an actual adjustable 'toast' feature that appears to work well for toast, bagels or English muffins. In addition the oven has worked as expected. Though it is not a convection oven, it still works well. The crumb tray is much more accessible on this unit. Though the manual does not explain it well, the unit does have an auto shut off after about 2 hours in the event someone forgets to turn the unit off. Though the previous unit had a maximum 45 minute timer it worked very poorly as a toaster. This unit allows you to select the feature and temperature you wish to use. We like it very much.

      Mixed feelings

First off, this toaster oven does a wonderful job of heating, toasting, and broiling, so I am giving it 4 stars for doing what it is supposed to do and doing it well. It looks nice on my counter, and has plenty of room inside. I'm still having a hard time getting used to all of the dials though... I feel like they made it way to complicated to use. Also, one of the main selling points for me was the fact that the rack slides out when the door opens, but it doesn't slide smoothly like my old toaster oven did. Plus the rack is not centered, but sits up too high in the oven, making it difficult to retrieve the food once it is heated. I'm hoping I will like this oven more as I get used to it.

Cuisinart’s Custom Classic Toaster Oven Broiler was only able to accommodate four slices of bread in our test. Otherwise it earned high marks for toasting, baking and broiling — although it did take a long time to broil chickenFull Review
