Customers praise the High-Definition Wi-Fi Video Security Camera's impressive picture quality and ease of use, especially for beginners. Many also appreciate its effective night vision capabilities and the option for local storage via microSD card. However, some users experienced challenges with the setup process and motion detection features, while others found the software and compatibility with certain routers to be less than ideal.

Sadly, this seems to be one of the better security cameras I've found. I say sadly because a basic cell phone camera takes better pics and video than this, even in low light conditions. 720p here just means that you get more of the grainy pixels than from an 480p camera. I uploaded full res pics to show this, but it seems you can only see a downscaled version that hides a lot of grain. Also, the unit switched to infrared mode if a cloud passes over the house, so expect black and white video if you don't leave all the lights on. The software needs a lot of work, too. The "nice" setup method can work, but test thoroughly as it's easy to miss the correct sequence and have it not work or lose all settings. For actual recording, it only records to the SD card in the camera itself if you use the regular setup tools, so if the camera is stolen you get no video. The advanced setup looks like it could record to a server but only with a very manual config. For motion detect, it false triggers all day long, but then misses a lot of recording when there's real action. There are no settings for time to record before or after a trigger event. Live feedback for tuning sensitivity would be quite helpful. For reviewing the video, just take the SD card out of the camera. The file access via IP is terrible if it works at all. The remote access does work well. I will probably buy a third one soon if I don't find a better option. This market still seems untapped by a good solution. I much prefer this to not having one.

This is one of four different cameras I purchased to try out for basic home monitoring. Picture quality during daytime is very good when sufficient lighting. Night vision is only adequate. The camera can be set to record to a memory card when there is movement. Camera is slow to respond when there is initial movement so you will end up missing the first few seconds. Setup was slow and at times frustrating. For being a wireless camera, the camera cannot be installed without first having to connect to router via cable. Once setup is complete, the camera can be used wirelessly. I use the DlinkLite app on both an Iphone 5S and an Amazone Fire HD. The Amazon app is far more user friendly, as reviewing video and deleting from the installed memory card is much easier. The iphone app is very cumbersome, especially when trying to delete video. Overall, am satisfied with the purchase. Like the smaller size of the DCS-2132L and HD quality, although apps and setup are still not great. Also tested the DLink DCS-5020L and DCS-5222L, which I ended up returning.

This is a decent camera with some pretty nice features for the price. The picture quality is good and the ability to have local storage on the camera with a MicroSD card is a nice option. The night vision is actually quite good as well. I found that the long power cable comes in handy and puts less restrictions on mounting options. Remote viewing via the myDlink website works very well with minimal setup required. The motion detection is great, I just wish I could record longer video clips with it. It's a bit cumbersome to get the data off of the SD card for review. I've found it a lot faster to actually remove the card and access it directly using a card reader than to use the camera's web interface. Another issue for some might be the loud CLICK noise it makes when switching to and from night vision mode. In all it is a great little camera that I have been using 24/7 for the past several weeks. It's been solid and I haven't had to mess with it since the initial install.
