This is a compilation of Danganronpa 1 and 2. A group of students are kidnapped and trapped in a school run by a demented robot bear, and the only way to escape is to get away with murder. However, if other people figure out you did it, you will be executed on the spot! Gameplay is a mashup of a bunch of disparate genres. There is the visual novel/social sim part where you hang out with the other students in between murders, having funny conversations and learning more about each other. After each murder occurs, the game suddenly shifts into investigation mode, and you are tasked with collecting clues and interrogating others to piece together who did it. Finally, there is the courtroom scenario, where you try to argue your case (think Phoenix Wright's "objection!" when you are rebutting a lie). Overall, these games are pretty fun with an off the wall story that will keep you guessing. If I had a complaint it would be the jankiness of the gameplay mechanics, it can get kind of frustrating during the courtroom scenes when massive input lag interferes with your actions and you have to keep repeating the part.

This is a collection of two games so I shall review them individuality Danganronpa 1: Danganronpa 1 is the story of a group of student who each have an ultimate "talent". This group of students are all excited to be accepted to the best school in country Hope Peak Academy, But as they get there they fall asleep and wake up in a weird place where they cant escape and all the windows have steel plates over them. Then a figure tells them the only way to leave is to kill one of your fellow student and get away with it. Now it is time to survive. Danganronpa 2: This is a sequel to the first game. A new set of student find themselves on a tropical island where they are told they must collect hope fragment in order to leave the island, but is that all there is to the island? well you gotta play to find out

This is my first time dipping into the Danganronpa series, at the time of writing this I am halfway through the first one. The start is a little rough, trying to get used to the stiff movement along with the predictable story parts. It wasn't until Chapter 2 where I really got into the game. It became unpredictable and the characters start to feel a little less tropey and more alive. If you dig Ace Attorney, you'll like this then! Personally, I like the AA series more, but this is a great series to play. The downsides for me include not fully voice acted, some of the voice acting REALLY doesn't fit, and the controls are a little weird. This is solely for the first game, I haven't even touched the second one yet. For $40, you're getting a lot of value with this collection. Go for it!

For anyone even thinking about trying the Danganronpa series, please do yourself a favor and get this game: a compilation of Danganronpa 1 and 2 on the PS Vita. This compilation is also on PC, but I don't play games on PC. The enhancements to this game are nice, particularly the HD and the fact that you get to use the PS4 controller. There's also an extra "dating sim" mode that lets you interact with the characters apart from the murder-mystery plot of the main game. Danganronpa is not at all appropriate for kids (obviously), but anyone who is a fan of visual novels should get this game.

So video games still receive a negative stigma as a waste of time and immature, but many that hold these opinions comprise the large percentage of Americans that watch 6+ hours of television per day. Others may prefer reading, but the isolation of being immersed in a story that only you are experiencing at that time can be limiting. Games like Danganronpa are the answer - pop it up on your big screen and enjoy a story that is engaging, entertaining, and interactive. Either alone, or with friends/family. Great value here - check it out!

These games were initially released on vita so this isn't new by any means. This is a compilation of 2 visual novels. This is not much of a game in the traditional sense. If you don't like reading A LOT then pass on this game. For those of us who enjoy reading, this is great. You cant beat the price since these were around 30 each on the vita and you can get both for around the same price.

If you already virtues last reward, it starts of very similar to it. i found the beginning very boring and hard to get into. instead of "random" people being captured and thrown in an area, this time its full of people who are the "best/strongest" at something. and guess what. for danganronpa you also need to kill people if you want to escape. wow, so exciting (sarcasm)

The first two Danganronpa games for the PlayStation Vita were personal favorites of mine, based on disturbingly-unique story lines involving in interesting cast of students and one sinister bear creature. This PS4 package is those two aforementioned games. With that said, I can't wait to replay these two games in wonderful 1080p goodness.
