Synopsis

Date Night
This action comedy tells the tale of mild-mannered married couple Phil (Steve Carell) and Claire (Tina Fey), who fear their relationship may be falling into a stale rut. During their weekly date night, they impetuously steal a dinner reservation, which leads to a case of mistaken identity. Turns out the reservation was for a pair of thieves, and now a number of unsavory characters want Phil and Claire killed. If they can survive a wacky life-threatening night, they may just rediscover the passion missing from their marriage. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film co-stars Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, and Kristen Wiig. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

I picked up this moving for $5, because Tina Fey and Steve Carrell were on the cover. I love the two, and I think you'll love them more in Date Night. They star as two boring couples, seeking to do something adventurous, but get entrapped in a enigma among a gang leader, a club owner, the police, and a running mayor. They receive a marathon of karma after stealing somebody's dinner reservation, but the couple are unable to seek help from the police. Doing things on their own, they encounter unexpected mishaps in the night. The movie doesn't explain why the cops need the flash drive from the Tripplehorn until near the ending. It mainly focusses on how a couple's boring night turned into a series of mishaps in a funny way. The ending is not so bad, but it resolves the story at the least.

The comedy duo, Tina Fey and Steve Carrell, made for some very funny scenes. After learning that many scenes were ad libbed, it made the humor even more hilarious! Any married, unmarried or been married couple can relate to the dilemna and parody of the relationships in this very cute movie! Good guys or girls film! This movie was incredibly funny! Steve Carell and Tina Fey are the Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz we laughed at as teenagers! The plot was wonderfully thought out and pulls the audience in because the majority of the viewers are married/dating and just wanting to have a fun night out to forget about all their household responsibilities. The movie was hilarious and this will be the first DVD we will probably wear out! Highly recommended for all to enjoy :-)

Very fun movie worth seeing. You might expect a digital copy that comes with a Blue-Ray disc to be hi-def, but you'd be wrong. The digital copy is such a low resolution (less than analog TV resolution) which only plays on my computer where it has to upconvert so much it looks terrible and isn't worth watching. It will not transfer to my Android tablet either. Had I known I would not have bought this version. It's only good if you don't care about using the Digital Copy.

    Extended vs. Theatrical Versions

We watched the extended version prior to watching the theatrical version. Although the theatrical version was good, the extended version help to add more to character and individual scene development. If you are looking for a good comedy on a Saturday night, this one should be on your list of 'must see' movies. Tina and Steve are an excellent team!

We watched this movie at the theater the other night and laughed all the way through it. As soon as it comes out on DVD, we're getting it. It's well worth the money to be able to laugh your troubles away for almost 2 hours. Steve Carell is hilarious in this movie!!
