Deep Purple: Come Hell or High Water [DVD] [1993]

This concert video -- which documents a short-lived reunion of Deep Purple's classic lineup, featuring Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillian -- has become available on DVD in a respectable but bare-boned release. The images have been transferred in their original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio has been mastered in two formats, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo. Deep Purple: Come Hell or High Water features no subtitles or closed captioning, and outside of biographies of the band members and an interview with the group, the DVD offers nothing in the way of bonus features, though the superior quality of sound and image and the ease of accessing individual songs make it preferable over the VHS edition of this release.

Synopsis

Deep Purple: Come Hell or High Water
In 1993, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore joined his former partners from Deep Purple -- Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice -- for a reunion tour that brought back the classic lineup of one of Britain's most fabled hard rock bands. Deep Purple: Come Hell Or High Water captures Deep Purple in concert during this tour; selections include "Highway Star," "Smoke on the Water," "Space Truckin'," and "Woman From Tokyo." ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
