Excellent!!
Posted .A very nice buy! The wide screen aspect is super, and works perfect for wide screen movies (and full screen movies as well!) The colors are bright, and dimming the screen to accomedate for light changes is a snap. It's a little heavy, but not a problem. The only downside is the moniter does not have a webcam. Overall, i would rate this product a 9 out of 10. I recomend this to anyone!

Great LCD monitor for the money
Posted .This LCD This Dell LCD monitor is a great LCD monitor. The Best Buy salesmen told me that these LCD monitors were one of the fastest selling LCD monitors at the store. So I figured it must be good and bought one myself to replace my 2 year old 17 inch Gateway monitor. Lucky for me I was able to get the last one. I paid the same price for my Gateway 17 inch monitor 2 years ago as I paid for this monitor, so I'm sure there was a decent amount of difference due to the ongoing changes of technology since then, but I had no idea that it was going to be like a night and day difference. As soon as I got home I compared the differences between my 2 year old 17 inch Gateway monitor, it was indeed like comparing night and day. The contrast ratio and the response times are phenomenal for the price. Not to mention Dells throws in a DVI cable on top of the standard VGA and power cables and a 3 year warrantee for 200 bucks. I used to be a little cautious towards Dell LCD monitors due to the back lighting issues in previous generations, but I can see now that those issues are definitely a non issue now. This LCD monitor is by far and away the best LCD Monitor I ever owned, especially for $200.monitor is by far and away the best LCD Monitor I ever owned, especially for $20

great monitor and great price
Posted .I did a long research before buying this one.I looked at a lot of reviews and couldn't decide between a samsung or dell, but I noticed that a lot of people had problems with the high resolution and the text didn't look clear on many Samsung ,HP,and Dell models, plus many complained that they were too bright to the eyes and even if they adjusted them they would still hurt the eyes.Besides, the resolution of these monitors got to be supported by your computer otherwise you would have to update your graphic card.I have a HP Pavillion a1630n and it has an ENVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE so I didn't have to update the graphic card. After I assembled the monitor,I noticed the image was distorted, pictures looked wider, and text was blurry and since I did read a review from someone on Amazon that all you have to do is right click on your desktop and click properties and then settings and then drag the resolution to this monitor's resolution 1440X900 and problem solved. Color accuracy is very important for me since I'm a photographer and have to color correct pictures.I was worried if this monitor would not have the right adjustment on colors, but it does, peace of mind now.All I had to do is click on the front buttons on the monitor and mess with them.Something else that samsung and dell are doing now is giving a 3 year warranty because of past issues with the back light, which is great.I had a samsung monitor syncmaster 710 that died on me after 2 and 1/2 years of service.,and another piece of junk of Hp f1703 that didn't even last a year.Something else: I don't have a DVI conection on my computer and I don't think I need to upgrade to that yet, some people said made no difference having a DVI connection or a VGA (regular) connection. This monitor met my expectations.

Very Good Purchase !! Get'em before they run out !
Posted .This monitor was an extremely good purchase for me because it's a 19" wide screen and a considerable upgrade for me, considering I used to own a 13" (Yea I know.. Ancient!). Anyways, I have had no pixels go out in this monitor and the controls for brightness and contrast are very easy to manipulate. Also, everything shows up super clear. And for the price, you can't beat it !!!! Also, you have to kind of look around on the product description for this but this monitor is HD ready !!!! It doesn't say it in big bold letters but it is, which is a monumental plus, considering the switch we are all making to HD. Now with this monitor, you can have it on your computer !!! Thanks Dell !

Hard to 'set up'
Posted .I found that setting up the monitor (i.e., attaching the monitor to the stand, plugging into electrical outlet, connecting monitor to computer, ect...) itself was fairly easy, but when I went to turn the monitor on, it did not go on right away. Instead, I had to 'synchronize the monitor' and in order to figure out how to do that, I had to download the user's guide to my computer first. Once I did that, it was very hard for me to understand from that point on. My mom had to come over and do everything else for me as I have only basic computer skills. If you aren't good with computer terminology and have only basic computer skills, this monitor will not be easy to set up by yourself. I don't like having things that I can't set up or work on my own. I now have to depend on my Mom if anything should happen with this monitor. I also wish that the user's guide had been a book that came with the monitor, instead of software that I had to download onto my computer. What if I have to troubleshoot the monitor one day because it isn't working properly? How will I be able to see the user's guide to troubleshoot the monitor if the monitor isn't even working?? Other than the set up, the monitor is really nice. The wide screen is fantastic, there is no glare and the colors are amazing. It would be nice if the screen moved from side to side instead of just up and down, but it's really not a big deal for me personally. I would recommend this monitor to a friend.

Great monitor
Posted .Just got this monitor two days ago to replace a 5 y.o. 17" standard HP LCD that quit. Big, clear, bright picture. Plug and play. Comes with both DVI and VGA cables which many do not. The design is cool and simple with a hole in the stand to keep cords neat. It has a narrow bezel and has a small footprint on the desk. Good quality and value for the price.

Good monitor with a few downsides
Posted .This monitor has a great 19" screen that's beautifully bright with nice options for customization as all monitors usually have, as well as a significant display. The silver color's nice instead of the usual black because it gives it a more modern look and feel. What I'm not too satisfied with is that I think for a 19" screen it could have had a slightly larger resolution. My 17" screen laptop has the same 1440 x 900 resolution so this monitor probably isn't ideal for HD content or high quality video of any sort. Also, when pressing buttons on the bottom, hold the back of it while doing so because you'll push the monitor over having to push the buttons. Finally, I would have liked a standard 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the 16:10 that this provides. While the good overway the bad in this product, it would have been nice to see some improvements in the design of the screen, not including the nice silver color of the monitor itself.

Great for Business Usage!!!
Posted .I use a similar Dell model at when I'm in the office. I attach it to my laptop and therefore I am able t get 2 displays. I have been working a lot from home lately and I've been in the market for another monitor. I've looked at LG and Samsung, as well as Dells and I have to say that the Dells look the best. I use my computer at work to run some proprietary software as well as manipulating data with Excel spreadsheets. I highly recommend this monitor. I think I'm going to get another one to use with my home desktop. It's great!
