Dell - Inspiron 15.6" Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Black

Performance: Fantastic. The computer almost never lags. It's not always lightning-fast, but "Not Responding" is tremendously rarely an issue. Design: Works. Nothing to rave about: it's a simple black laptop. Keyboard is nice and easy to type on. In terms of size, the screen is a perfect 15.6". It's a wonderfully large display for a laptop, but not so big that it can't be carried around. I would recommend getting the Dell Half Day Sleeve with it; it's only $20 and provides extra comfort and protection for transporting. Battery Life: Not the best ever. However, it's really not that terrible: I could probably run an advanced app like Pinball FX2 (on Windows 8) for at least two hours on a full charge, while something simpler like Microsoft Word could run easily for at least 3 1/2 hours with no problem. Price: What a steal! $400 bucks for a laptop this good is tremendous. Overall: Great laptop, wonderful performance, simple and sleek design, very portable, nice display. Buy it!

I purchased this laptop in a recent sale, and it definitely exceeds my expectations. It's fast enough to do what I need to do, easy set-up and seems solid. Good processor and aside from the usual Windows 8 "growing pains" in figuring out where my friends at Microsoft decided to hide certain important elements, which can be solved with a simple Goofgle search or a few minutes with a Windows 8 "Dummies" book, have had no major issues. Out of the box I noticed some annoying cursor jumps/relocations while typing, and figured these were related to touchpad vibration/sensitivity, since I had the same issue with my HP laptop when I typed too fast/hard...anyway..going into Dell Touchpad in control panel and turning on "touchguard" was a total fix! Fast/solid wireless connection, and overall good performance, as long as you're not trying to run air traffic control on it! Camera resolution not great, as one reviewer noted, but not at all a deal breaker for me!

When I first got this laptop, I thought I was going to be disappointed by no USB 3.0 ports. It turned out great, as it did have USB 3.0 and Best Buy's website is incorrect. As for the laptop, it runs extremely smoothly and I'm really enjoying Windows 8. I even ran Need for Speed and was able to play it on mid~high settings. Although not for gamers, the processor allows for various tasks. The screen is beautiful and the keyboard easy to use. The worst part is probably the webcam since it only goes up to 0.9 megapixels. It has a decent battery life of about 5 hours if you perform normal tasks (not videos/games).

I will put it to you simple like. If you want most of the $400 bucks you spend on a brand new laptop to go into hardware that will give you performance then I hate to say it but "dude you getting a..." you know the rest. This has the I5 Pentium processor! Enough said. Seriously I could stop there. It is super fast and graphics are on par with most in this price range and actually maybe better than 90% of them. You get all 3 major wifi's and Bluetooth, which a lot do not have. If you want to you can even upgrade the ram to 8gb. Sweet machine. SO.. if you want a fancy case or a heavy duty case with a slower processor and yukky ram then get the comparable priced laptop cause this one aint fancy at all but it is a "sleeper". That's what you call a super fast car that looks like a slow car on the outside. Get it if performance is a priority over luxury.

I picked up this laptop for $399. I can not say anything but good things about the price to performance ratio. A 3rd Gen i5 processor + USB 3.0 + 4GB RAM + HDMI + 6 cell battery (2-3 hrs) make this the perfect laptop for just about anyone! CONS: -Slow Hard Drive (5400RPM). Install an SSD to maximize potential performance ($100) and thank me later. -Windows 8 because its not a touch screen making tile interface useless. Had to install ClassicShell to remedy. -Casing feels cheap. I wouldn't want to see what happens if dropped. Its a little bit thick, but not heavy at all.

I bought this laptop to update my home recording studio system. I've been using it a couple of months and it has performed flawlessly. It is fast and stable. The fan is very quiet which is important for my application. This is a no frills laptop, it has what I need and nothing else. Even the battery life is remarkable. The keyboard feel is natural and the display is pleasing to look at. The only thing I’m not completely satisfied with is the Windows 8 operating system. I’m just having a hard time getting use to it but I haven’t given up yet. I think Windows 8 would be great for portable devices with touch screen but I don’t find it to elegant for non touch screen devices. And all those preloaded Apps with all that advertisement, I don’t need it, want It and it just gets in my way. Other than the Windows 8 user interface the operating system seems to do its job very well.

Needed a laptop for under $500 when my other one fried the video card. I was able to use the website to find an open box item at my local store and pick this one up. Nothing to write home about but overall a solid laptop. I wish there was a downgrade option coming bundled with windows 8 takes the value down! Very difficult to work on internals like upgrade memory or hard drive. For price point just get this as a secondary, should not be considered primary laptop for any longterm computer user.

Got this laptop about a month ago and it's been great! You get a laptop with an i5 processor that is in the price range of i3's which is a great plus. I don't do anything too difficult with it, but it has been exactly what I need for school as well as surfing the internet. The only thing I really don't like is the touchpad. At first it would jump all over the place but I was able to fix that by lowering the sensitivity. Now the only complaint about it is if the laptop is not plugged in, the mouse will occasionally get stuck when hovered over a search bar. Never occurs when the laptop is plugged in or I am using a wireless mouse. It's easily fixed by pressing the power button to put it in sleep mode then waking back up, so it's really more of an annoyance than anything.
