Great Laptop for the money... with the HD touch screen and the stylish look and feel you really can't beat it. I did install an SSD after about a month. Start up now is less than 5 seconds and app responsiveness is amazing. I would caution those who want to swap out the HDD to an SSD. Although the installation is very simple (directions on the Dell website how to swap out), there is a small dimple (less then 1mm in height and width) under the slot the SSD plugs into. For SSD's with a full metal case, it will not fit between the mother board and the slot. I had to do some re-engineering on the SSD case by adding a notch to the SSD housing to allow it to slip in (see picture). If you choose to go this route it will void your warranty on the SSD so notch at your own risk LoL. There are other SSD's out there however that this shouldn't be a problem as the metal housing does not extend out all the way to the end of the plug. Adding an SSD is definitely worth it giving this Inspiron a XPS feel and very fast response times.

This is an great laptop for emailing, web surfing, working on documents and spreadsheets, listening to music, looking at videos, and doing social media stuff like Facebook and Twitter. I don't do any major gaming or production of videos, so I don't need a high-powered laptop. It has a great high definition display, and the audio is good. I am enjoying learning how to use Windows 8.1. I spend much more time on this laptop than I did on my 6-year old Dell laptop. I highly recommend this Dell laptop.

This PC laptop was everything that we were expecting plus more. The touch screen is flawless and smooth, the keyboard is very responsive. The computer speed is excellent and the looks are very stylish. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone looking for a reliable easy to use computer. This is not a gaming machine.

Excellent price for what it offers. Other laptops have similar specs and price, but the thing that stood out for me was the screen. Its a 1080p IPS display with good viewing angles and great contrast. Pros: - great display - thin and light - attractive aluminum construction - good backlit keyboard and trackpad - includes touch screen Cons: - no ssd (but not expected at this price point) - no numeric keypad (some people like it) - a bit generic design

Right size for ease of use with a clear bright screen big enough to see and light weight for a great price. I purchased an out of the box/refurbished Dell with the servicing agreement. It was worth the “risk” over paying full price as I got all the warranty behind it as if it were “new”. Except for one issue everything has performed as well as the new one I purchased at the same time. I had it for about 3 weeks with no issues then the Internet wouldn't connect. Found out they hadn't cleaned out something related to web links. After 5 minutes with the Geek Squad it was up and running and there’s been no issues since. The service agreement is great! You get what you pay for and more. I've called in for guidance on a variety of non-hardware issues with great response and guidance. Highly recommend the Dell 15”, considering a refurbished unit for a great savings AND whether you buy you laptop/PC/tablet or phone from Best Buy pick up their service agreement.

I needed to replace my laptop that crashed (was 5 years old!). After doing some research and seeking out some recommendations, I ended up purchasing the Dell Inspiron 15.6" Touch Screen, Intel Core i5 with 6GB memory. (The next larger Dell is good for video and high end photography editing but not necessary if you are not working on those type of projects.) I wanted a more traditional laptop; I looked at the 2-in-1 style but I needed a larger screen for spreadsheets, etc. I typically am not carrying this laptop around a lot but if I need to it is light in weight and slim in design. The touch screen is second nature (once you learn the nuances). There are a lot of features which I am still learning. Best Buy had the best sale price plus great customer service. I would definitely do business with them again.

I purchased this laptop over the holidays when it was on sale for $649. I settled on this laptop after reading some reviews and it seemed to have the best specs for the price. After bringing the laptop home, I began installing the software I like to use. While installing I began to notice some odd clicking noises from the laptop. They seemed to be coming from the hard drive. Since I've had hard drive problems in the past and know it's not something you want to mess with, I returned it to the store with in a few days (before the 15 day return period is over) and explained the problem. The technicians at Best Buy tried to duplicate the noise but could not hear it or reproduce. My guess is that they couldn't hear it because their store is much too noisy to hear this faint noise (not as quiet as my house). Even though they couldn't hear it, they still allowed me to return it for the same laptop. After taking the second laptop home, I began reinstalling my software and once again heard the same clicking noise. I have not returned the second laptop since I now thick it must just be a common flaw with this laptop. I haven't read about anyone else hearing the clicking noise. That being said, I'm thinking about changing the hard drive out for a SSD which I'm surprised Dell didn't include with this high quality laptop (probably didn't include to keep the cost lower). Otherwise the high def IPS screen was the feature that I was looking for the most. After comparing it to many other models in the store, the screen looked the best. After 2 months with the laptop, I still enjoy the screen and is probably my favorite feature. The keyboard keys are nice and seem comfortable to type with, I only wish it had dedicated Home, End, PgUp & PgDn keys (instead you have to use the Fn + arrowkeys combo. The touch pad is nice and large with two finger scroll but lacks the ability to customize the use of the buttons, sensitivity, etc. (the drivers/software has the options button grayed out). The touch screen is nice but I rarely use it, I find myself using the touch pad or a mouse when at my desk. The speakers are not very good but I have a pair of speakers with a subwoofer that I plug in when at my desk. That being said, I think it's a very nice looking laptop and is thin, light weight and would give even a Apple Macbook a run for it's money. I hope it last as long as my last Dell which made it 8 years.

I love this laptop. I have had it for about a month and use it every day. It may not be a gaming laptop but I use it as a computer not a gaming system. The processor is super fast. The full HD screen is really crisp. I did not think I would use the Touchscreen but find it really convenient at times. The touchpad is smooth as silk, but 2 Finger scrolling takes some getting used to. Love the Aluminum body. Battery life is pretty good but depends on settings and what you are doing. It is light, thin, and the perfect size at 15.6". It boots up in about 20 seconds and shuts down just as quickly. You can feel the quality in this system. There is no number pad, but I don't miss it. It also does not have an optical drive, but external optical drives are not that expensive. The keyboard is backlit and types really well. It is centered nicely with the touchpad in the center as well. (Hate those off-centered touchpads.) For the price you just can't beat the quality and features of this system. I highly recommend it.
