Customers enjoy the Inspiron Desktop's impressive performance and ease of use, praising its speed, simple setup, and compact size. Many appreciate the solid-state drive (SSD) for faster boot times and multitasking capabilities. While some wish for more storage, the overall positive feedback highlights the value and efficiency of this desktop computer.
Bought this initially during the Black Friday sales, but online. Easy set up but when I would boot it up a few times I would get a blue screen that indicated recovery was needed. So I brought it in since it was still under warranty to Geek Squad. They said I could get another one, but they didn't have one in the store that I would have to drive 15 miles or so to get it or they could to a recovery on it. I chose the latter one. I picked it up the next day and started it up. It fired up right away. It was ok for a few days until on the second day, I booted it up and the blue screen came back. Brought it straight to Best Buy and they gave me the same options but I added another option, full refund. I was not going to get another Dell and have it do the same thing and have to repeat the process over and over again. I have a Dell laptop, and it is great, but Dell desktops just have never been a good chose for me.

I've only had this new computer for several weeks. I'm happy to say that someone from the Geek Squad came to my home and set up my new computer

I bought this as a replacement for a 10-year old system that had died. I originally ordered a gaming style machine, but there were problems in getting parts in a timely fashion. So I settled for this one as it was in stock locally since I needed a computer. I purchased this as a value machine, but with possibilities for upgrades. The i7-8700 CPU is a workhorse with 6 cores and 12 threads operating at a stock clock of 3.2 GHz. with a boost to 4.6 GHz. Memory is 12GB of DDR4-1666 SDRAM which can be increased to 32GB max. Disk storage is provided by a 256GB NVME SSD which is blazingly fast but a little small. It can be replaced by a 512GB NVME, but I decided to add an (existing) 1TB SATA SSD which is still fast. Operating system on the NVME; data on the SATA which is a decent compromise. To complete the storage I added an (existing) 2TB USB3 External HDD for archival purposes. There is also room for a second internal SSD/HDD if you want. This model doesn't have a a separate GPU but uses the Intel 630 graphics embedded in the chip. This limits the machine's utility as a gaming device, but a separate GPU can be added, just watch out for adequate power supply. The system is a little short on I/O ports. There are 2 USB3.1 ports on the front and 4 USB2.0 ports on the rear. I added an (existing) 2 USB3 adapter to the rear panel. However, be prepared to use a lot of USB hubs if you have a lot of external devices. The front panel also has a headphone jack and a SD/MMC card slot. The rear panel has the standard 3 audio ports, a HDMI port, a VGA port, and a 1Gb Ethernet jack. Finally, the unit comes with a DVD/CD burner for old times sake. (I actually like it, because I have a lot of old software titles on DVD, plus you can play old movie DVDs and music CDs.) 802.11b/g/n Wi-fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are also included. For better or worse, the system comes with Windows 10 Home and not too much bloatware. The system is easy to open and is a pleasure to work with. All components that you might want to change are easily accessible and only require a few simple tools. Since I don't have a separate GPU, the only real source of heat is the CPU which is limited to 65W TDP. Thus the whole system is easy to air-cool and is virtually silent unless driven really, really hard. I'm quite impressed with the machine and think it offers a convenient growth path for the future. The only caveat is don't expect it to excel at gaming or at video rendering, the power just isn't there. Also, there is zero RGB lighting; this is truly a simple unobtrusive black box.
