Nice Amp with Modern Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modern feature set of this unit was a strong selling point including its enhanced Dolby features. My setup is configured 3.1 on the speakers with no rear/side channels in use. Setup was straight forward. Audio configuration with the included microphone and tripod allows the unit to configure itself for your listening environment with little need to make manual adjustments. The is a large number of HDMI ports available and the unit is WiFi capable to communicate with network devices. It also does firmware updates over WiFi (twice updated in the past 40 or so days). The system is connected to a Sony 830C 4K Television and upscaling is excellent playing content from an Xbox One, PS4, and AppleTV. Sound quality is very good in my environment, providing crisp highs and excellent overall presence. On the downside, when connected to an iPhone via Bluetooth, on several occasions, the receiver has just switched to Bluetooth while I was watching other content. Not sure why this happens and I have not figured it out yet. Overall very pleased with the purchase.

Great Features and Great Sound!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver had everything I'm looking for and we are enjoying it immensely. I have it set up with a 5.1 Klipsch speaker system and commonly use it with a Blu Ray player (Sony) and an Apple TV. The TV I am outputting it to is only a 1080p set, so I can't comment on the 4k up scaling. The sounds is great and while I don't have the height speakers yet for an Atmos soundtrack, the 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks (such as on the Star Wars blu rays) are excellent. Clear and crisp sound setup perfectly thatnks to the Audyssey microphone and setup software included. It is very easy to set up and walks you through each step. The only issue I had was with using the ARC on the HDMI for my over the air and smart tv apps where I wanted the sound to play through the speakers. At first the receiver wouldn't recognize it and let me choose HDMI ARC as an option, but redoing the setting on my TV and then turning everything off / on let me choose the setting on the receiver and now it works great. The internet radio feature built in also works great and has almost every country with clear sound and an easy to use interface. This is a great 'future proofing' receiver with the HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2 along with the Dolby Atmos and DTS: X support and I look forward to using this for years to come!

Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver has met my expectations and then some. It was easy to set up, and the sound quality is a huge step up from my 10 year old Onkyo receiver, even though I'm using the same speakers. I'm now able to plug all my devices right into this unit and switch quickly & easily between them, all upscaled into 4k. Late at night I can adjust the channel volume, use the dialogue improvement feature, or use the dynamic range compression feature (or a combination of all of these things) to make it easy to hear the dialogue while sound effects & music remain at a normal level. Without these features, either the dialogue is too quiet to hear, or the sound effects are deafeningly loud. This does reduce the quality and impact of the soundtrack, so I turn these features off during the day time, but because I don't want to wake up the whole neighborhood, I turn them on at night, and I can still enjoy pretty good sound on my movies and TV while dialogue & other sound levels stay basically flat and even and everything can be heard clearly without being too loud. That's just a taste of the level of control you get over all of your audio with this device. It's truly amazing the ways you can tweak your sound experience to suit the mood you're going for. I love it!

Great sound quality and settings.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you know anything about home audio this is a great affordable receiver. I have had it for about 6 months now and love it. I did not use the audyssey mic to set up my audio because I have a custom setup and wanted to handle it myself. I love being able to change the equalizer and sound level per speaker it was perfect for my setup. I am running 2x Cerwin Vega xls-15s (400 watt speakers Bi amped) 2x Cerwin vega Re - 30s(250 watt) 1x Cerwin vega Center speaker. All of these speakers are wired with Monster Platinum XP speaker wire. I am also pulling all of the 1295 watts out of the receiver therefore it gets hot but running the ECO mode helps this issue immensely. I run a fan I have setup for it when I am running high volumes and/or high bass with ECO mode off. There is much more but this is plenty long as is. anyone that complains about clarity either needs better speakers, wires, or knowledge of how to set up the equalizers. My whole system is roughly $3,000 and extremely clear for the money weather it's blaring heavy metal or bumping some rap or dubstep. I like my music loud real loud!

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had an old Yamaha reciever for probably 10 or more years. I really needed an upgrade. This unit has a ton of inputs, and was easy to setup and program. My old reciever was only a 6.1 and I had my house wired for that setup, and luckliy this unit will convert the 7.1 signal down to 6 speakers to be compatible. I've had 2 issues with the unit, one is that sometimes when fast forwarding the DVR, the sound won't "catch" and it will be silent, but that is normally fixed by rewinding for a second and trying again. It doesn't happen too often so it hasn't bothered me. Also for a period of a couple days it got stuck in a firmware update loop that would flash some text on screen, it took some finagling to get that cleared, but it's been great ever since. Sound quality and options have been top notch, no complaints from me.

Great Receiver!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Denon Receiver for many years and was extremely pleased. Upgrading to HDMI I tried an Onkyo Receiver that was "future ready" with Dolby Atmos and DTS X. Unfortunately, I had two Rceivers that for some reason shut down and went into an Error stand-by mode. I returned both and went back to Denon. An extremely easy and user friendly set-up. It has a great and clear sound. I do admit, I need to really turn up the volume in the 70 range to get my desired "movie theater" experience. My wife admits though that it is a nice clear sound, not "blasty" loud like my other Receivers. I am excited to next upgrade my monitor and speakers to meet the high quality of the Receiver.

Q: QuestionCan this receiver be set up as part of a multiroom wireless audio system?
Asked by Bill.
- A:Answer No does not have the necessary hardware to link with heos. Have to upgrade to a more expensive model. You would hsve to buy a bridge to do it.

Q: QuestionCan I hook up a power AMp
Asked by Bones.
- A:Answer As far as I have noticed there are no passive outs that you could send an unpowered signal to a powered amplifier. Sorry that's not a definitive Yes or No. I have had many other brands of high end stereo units and this one is awesome. Loud and tons of controls for eq and individual speaker gain.

Q: QuestionHDMI OuputsWith the two HDMI outputs, does it simply mirror what is on the main output, or are they discrete so you can have two TVs with separate content on them?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer They display the same content, one or both of the HDMI outputs can be active at the same time, but it's not multiple zones.
