Synopsis

Die Another Day
Pierce Brosnan makes his fourth appearance as suave super-spy James Bond in this espionage thriller, the 20th film in the official Bond series. While on assignment in North Korea, Bond is captured by government agents, where he's imprisoned and tortured for over a year. When Bond finally wins his freedom, not everyone is certain 007 is still capable of doing the job, but after Zao (Rick Yune), the North Korean operative who snared Bond, is discovered to be in cahoots with unscrupulous entrepreneur Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens), Bond is back on the case, and he finds the two men have sinister plans which could decide the fate of the world. As Bond hops from England to Cuba to Korea to Iceland in pursuit of his quarry, he (as usual) makes the acquaintance of two beautiful and mysterious women, Jinx (Halle Berry) and Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike). Judi Dench and John Cleese return in Die Another Day as, respectively, Bond's superior M and gadget-master Q; Madonna contributes the film's theme song and makes a cameo appearance as a fencing instructor. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

    An unoriginal Bond film

This is one of the weakest Bond films. Firstly, the plot feels like a rehash of Diamonds Are Forever (which is WAY better) and some of the scenes are reminiscent of Goldfinger. Let's also not forget the use of the bathing suit that Ursula Andress wore in Dr. No, which may have seemed like a cute idea on paper, but it just looks ridiculous on Halle Berry. Pierce Brosnan plays james Bond for the last time, and he begins by getting captured in North Korea after killing one of their colonels. Then, after being traded for a North Korean terrorist, Bond is declared useless by M, and is forced to escape to find out who gave him up to the Koreans. He ends up on the trail of a diamond mogul named Gustav Graves, and upon spending some time in his ice palace, Bond finds out that the giant sun-reflecting sattelite that Graves built may have more sinister purposes than bringing the world round-the-clock daylight. Nothing about the plot really matters. Plot twists abound, but even though they're totally ridiculous, they're rather predictable. About halfway through you can't help but realize that you just don't care, and you really wish something would blow up. The only thing that really saves this movie is the action scenes, some of which, including a hovercraft chase and a car chase/duel on ice, are pretty cool. Try this movie on for size, but don't expect it to be anything more than its face value.

Die Another Day is Pierce Brosnan's 4th and final time as the legendary James Bond, 007 in this action adventure, spy drama, that pits him against a diabolical genius who wants to literally slice up the earth. Halle Berry as a co-star adds to the excitement of the story. Although the reviews on this film were less than stellar, it was big at the box office among fans.

While the movie was an average grade James Bond movie, The price and service I received from my Best Buy was 5 star. I was in and out of the store within 10 minutes. When you want to watch a movie within a day or two of your impulse to see it, hitting your local Best Buy is a great option. The movie was on sale for under $8 which was less than the pizza I ate while watching it.

While many people hated this movie, I love it because of the far out ice house and weapons and Pierce Bronson made it work. There was a lot of action. You could argue that there was too much Sy-Fy element to it, While I would recommend to a friend, I would be hesitant to recommenced to the die hard James Bond book reader

I haven't seen this movie in quite some time, but I think it's one of the better Bond movies with Pierce Brosnan (also his last). It has lots of big female stars: Halle Berry, Judi Dench and future "Gone Girl" Rosamund Pike. I'm building a digital movie collection, and this one included the digital copy.

I'm very impressed by the quality of this film on Blu-Ray. I have to say seeing the original Ms. Berry on screen and in HD was nothing short of amazing. I was able to get this one at an amazing price and I see it's not on sale anymore. This was definitely a great deal all around.
