Deciding which DJI drone is right for you.
One of the top drone designers and manufacturers, DJI makes a wide range of drones for both professionals and hobbyists. Some of their drone models are specialized for use in industrial or agricultural work, but they also make a wide range of drones with cameras. So, it’s important to narrow down the options when comparing DJI drones in order to choose the best drone for you.
DJI’s Mavic Pro 3 offers triple camera technology, with three lenses to give you different focal length options, making this option ideal for professionals and serious drone videographers. Meanwhile, the DJI Air 3 now has two cameras onboard, and the latest generation offers a much longer flying time than the previous one did. The Avata drone series is designed specifically to take the pilot on the drone-flying experience. The drone pairs with a headset that creates a uniquely immersive flight. And the DJI Mini series, like the DJI Mini 3 Pro, prioritizes portability, coming in a conveniently tiny size for easy transport.
All of these lines offer drones with 4K resolution in their latest models. But you will also want to consider factors like frames-per-second, lens options and drone battery life when making your decision.
How to use DJI drones.
Once you’ve picked out the best DJI drone for you, it’s time to take it into the field. When choosing where to use your drone, always look up the local rules and regulations regarding drone use in the area. Some areas have limits on where or how high you can fly a drone, and others, like National Parks, do not allow any drone use without a filming permit—usually only available for professional projects. Always transport your drone in a drone bag to protect it, and consider bringing spare drone propellers and parts with you so that you can fix a broken propeller in the field.
Read your drone’s instructions carefully before use and be aware of factors in your environment that may cause your remote control to lose contact with your drone. Caves and canyons can cause your drone to lose its signal and drop to the ground, possibly causing damage or making it irretrievable. Even drones with GPS can experience this problem.
Finally, make sure you have backup storage for your footage when you’re on the go. That might mean having spare micro SD cards and an external hard drive so you can copy over large files.
