DOOM is a pretty decent reboot, and it pays a lot of respect to the original, but there are some parts of it that just don't seem right in a modern game anymore, and some parts of a modern game that don't feel fitting in a game like this. My qualms are with the speed you run at, and how the screen sways. It just feels too fast, almost as if you're swimming. Granted faster sometimes is better, but in this case, it's a bit overboard. The zoom in close up glory kills are fun to start, but get old really quick. Having them take control of the camera gets a bit jarring and overbearing after a while. The biggest problem is that's the best way to regenerate your health... so you're going to be doing glory kills the entire game. For the Collector's statue, it's pretty cool, but the base takes up a major amount of space. The battery cover was a massive pain to get out. It was so poorly designed that their website has a guide on how to remove it! The actual skeleton feels a bit flimsily attached too, so best to be careful when flipping the stand over to put the batteries in... The steelbook is really nice if you collect those kinds of things. Was a bit disappointed they didn't include the season pass, but it is what is. All in all, if you can get this for anything close to the $50 range it's worth it, otherwise hold off.

DOOM, it says it all. Fight Like He11! This is nothing like previous Doom Games, Story mode doesn't really mean much, its kinda cool, but you gain more by just getting into the action killing, hacking and slashing and with melee kills you get extra health and armor. Hard to explain, but you just have to play it. If you like Doom this is a must have, especially because the Collectors Edition comes with a very limited edition statue. The Statue has red less and a small fan on the bottom to flicker the lights and give it extra zaaaazzzzz. If you never played doom, but like FPS games, its a great game to buy.

Doom is a great game, but this is a review is for the contents of the Collector's edition. The statue is definitely high quality. The stand in the dark with the red light shining through the moving fan blades looks AMAZING. The battery compartment was a pain to get open, the plastic for the screw may have been stripped, it took a little work to get the cover off. Also, there is a hidden on/off switch on the base for anyone wondering, its just covered up. The game came in a steelbook case which is a nice touch even thought I installed the whole game from steam.
