Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in general is a fantastic follow-up to the original game. My first exposure to the game was on the XBOX ONE, I played it on PS4, and having sold both in favor of PC gaming, I was missing it sorely. (It's available on PC but the experience isn't even comparable with a keyboard and mouse. Further, using a controller on PC feels like eating pizza with a fork and knife: it works but it defeats the appeal.) Having been hyped for Pokemon Let's Go and Super Smash Bros, I purchased my Nintendo Switch. When I found DB Xenoverse on Switch for $20 at my local Best Buy, I had to try it! Graphics-wise, I can only speak for it as a handheld as I have yet to use it on a television. Verdict? Pretty good given the fact that it's a small screen and a handheld nintendo console. Small amounts of lag is sometimes a factor as well as battery life... But connecting these to a TV does scale it to 1080p resolution which, while not as impressive as the 4k resolution that XBONE, PS4, and most modern gaming PCs boast... But most won't be able to really tell the difference anyway. Everything else is simply a faithful reproduction in a handheld form factor.

This is a fighting game kind of like Dragon Ball Budokai, but not exactly for a few reasons. 1. The levels/stages are multi-part, and huge 2. You take any 3 characters into battle, and battle sometimes one enemy up to 5 at a time. 3. You can create your own character, and have him learn moves from various people in the Dragon Ball Universe 4. The town where you take quests/buy stuff/learn new techniques is huge, and you will be spending a lot of time moving around in it. What separates the Switch version from the PS4, and Xbox 1's version is they downgraded the graphics, and there is some frame stutter in the Switches handheld mode. I haven't played it docked, but if it stutters this bad in handheld mode I would hate to see what it would look like in docked mode. My overall impression is this is the weakest port of a mediocre/ok game. If you really want to get this game, and don't mind playing it only on the tv then get it for either the PS4 or the Xbox 1, because the graphics are good, and there is virtually no frame stuttering on those 2 systems. If you wish to play it as a handheld get it for the Switch.

Let me preface this with I did not play Xenoverse 1. I got Xenoverse 2 for the Switch to play with some friends. While there is a story mission, there is a lack of...guidance..? I mean, the guidance is there, but nothing that says do this, do that. Everything is unlocked pretty much from the get go. While you level up or train with instructors you unlock a few other attacks or outfits, but its all very basic. The fighting system is a bit buggy. And while there is an attribute system, nothing seems to affect Defense or Speed, and you can literally get stuck in a NPC loop where you cannot bounce back or defend from. A few people say its because you have to time the defense, but even doing so it still seems a bit buggy - maybe this is just on the Switch version and not really on the PS4/Xbox. Wish there was a bit more customization, but for what the game is its not bad. Overall 3/5 for the Switch as there is a lot that I feel is missing to make the game fully functional, or at least complete. Definitely a game to pick up if you like DBZ and want to play a fighter game to kill some time.

I’ll be quite honest in saying that it’s been well over a decade since I’ve played a DragonBall Z game. I think the last time I’ve played a DBZ game was when I was in Japan at the arcade. Anywho, my, how time’s changed! As I understand it, the Switch ‘suffers’ 30 FPS, until battles when docked, when it hits 60FPS. That hadn’t stopped me from enjoying this expansive game, where I enjoyed catching up with characters that I grew fond of, as well as other ones that I must not remember. The game is easy to pick up, and the tutorial has been decent; I didn’t feel like trying to find ways to ‘skip’ any part of it, as it gave decent explanation as to what is going on. Playing with the joycons is interesting, if not awkward. But I really enjoyed playing with a 8BitDo NES30 controller. I’m sure that the Switch Pro Controllers would work just as decently. While there is DLC available to buy, the game is adequate in content, and currently has two free DLC, so be sure to download those, as one of them contains parts pertinent to Part I’s storyline. All and all? I give it 4.25/5 stars.

Dragonball xenoverse 2 for the Nintendo switch isn't the most beautiful game you'll ever play, or the best story, or the best fighting, yet it manages to pull everything together to be an addictive and fun experience. I've always loved Dragonball Z and always wanted to act out being a Saiyan. Xenoverse 2 let's you do exactly that. You feel truly powerful when you play the game, and there are so so many Easter eggs for long times fans of the anime. Even without knowing much about Dragonball z, I think someone can enjoy the experience. Especially for the price, you get a ton of content. A nice main story, many co op side quests, and if you buy within the first month, you can download the entire story for xenoverse 1. And all in a $50 package. To summarize, I really enjoy Dragonball xenoverse 2. It is great fighting alongside old heroes (and villains) and growing more and more powerful as you fight.

I am glad Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is on the Nintendo Switch. I already have the PS4 version and this game is exactly the same port from PS4, With the Switch Version, I can take to on the go is a huge bonus. The 900P with 30FPS never bothered me while playing in docked mode since the game looks really pretty and vibrant. I've personally played most parallel quests on 2 hour trips from the house and the battery never dropped below 50%. I really enjoy having true console games on a portable device, but Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 seems like a great fit on the Nintendo Switch. Frame rates is acceptable. The Switch is identical except for 1 vs 1 battles being at 60FPS. All the Drgaonball fans or Switcher owner should get this game.

Been a big Dragon Ball fan for many years but always found the games lacking. After reading some reviews I gave this one a try and I've been pretty impressed so far. You can get by in the fights by mashing buttons but to excel there are some key combos and techniques to learn. The story has been fun and it is cool to see my character get stronger, learn new movies, and participate in some of the key battles in the DBZ series. My biggest issue so far is that I was reading reviews and many reviewers said it also included the quests from Xenoverse 1 with the game. That is only true if you got the game and downloaded the DLC shortly after it was released. Those quests can no longer be downloaded for free and you have to buy the $30 Season Pass to get them. Kind of disappointed to learn that after I already bought the game as I never played the first game.

am glad Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is on the Nintendo Switch. I always wanted to play this game on the PS4, but never got around to getting it so having the ability to play both Xenoverse titles in one game was a welcome bonus. The 900P with 30FPS never bothered me while playing in docked mode as most parallel quests were played on 2-3 hour trips from the house and the battery never dropped below 50%. I really enjoy having true console games on a portable device, but Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 seems like a great fit on the Nintendo Switch. I really wish more games would have cross-play, but it will happen eventually somewhere down the line. Frame rates never bother me until they are jarringly bad or drop below their target by 10 or more. Hopefully Dragon Ball FighterZ also makes it way to the Switch because I would rather have it there than anywhere else...
