Customers are enthusiastic about the fun gameplay and cool story mode in Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Many also praise the fighting mechanics, noting the unique and competitive aspects of the combat system. However, some players found the controls challenging and require time to master, while others mentioned difficulty spikes and inconsistent online functionality. Overall, the positive feedback on the core gameplay outweighs the concerns regarding controls, difficulty, and online features.
This game starts off by letting you interactively relive some critical moments in Dragon Ball history. But then something causes historical events to be altered. Trunks calls upon Shenron to send him a warrior who can help to fix the timeline. Guess what? That's you. =) In this game, you get to create your own character (Majin, Saiyan, Human, Namekian, or Freiza race) and customize his/her appearance, equipment, etc. along the way. If you've enjoyed previous Dragon Ball fighting games, you'll probably enjoy this one a lot. It's essentially the same thing but built out a lot more.

The game is fun and original while still sticking to the original source material. It even throws in those non-canon movies and series into the fray. You are allowed to create your own character out of 4 races: humans, sayans, frieza's race, and namekian. While the characters physical features are limited the clothes they ware can be customized mixed and matched and at time the color can be varied. Once you have created your character you are thrown into the main story where you meet future Trunks and explains the situation and why you were summoned. The story takes you through key points in DBZ history and lets you experience first hand what its like to fight next to Goku, Vegeta, and all the other z fighters. Aside from the main story you have parallel quests. These are missions that fill in the missing gaps in the main story, take you on "what if" tangents, and allows you to collect some awesome items and dragon balls. One of the best features in the game is that you are allowed to play the parallel quests with your friends in case you ever hit a tough mission. The online functionality is not the best and could have been done way better. It took a while before my friends and I figured out how to set up in game parties and invites. This wont effect the overall gameplay though as once it is figured out it is quite simple. I recommend this game to any DBZ fan who hasnt been inticed to buy a dbz game in the past few years. It is a nice refreshing take on a franchise which had stalled for a few releases.

This game features an original story line in the dragon ball universe and uses the premise of time travel to put your very own created character as the center of the story. The controls take a little getting used to but once you master them this game is a blast. At it's heart its a fighting game with some RPG elements, there are tons of unlockable characters, skills, items, and outfit sets to collect that greatly enhance the replay factor of this game. The only negative thing I can say about it is the servers leave much to be desired on the PS4 version, constant disconnects and such but once this is resolved it's easily the best dragon ball game ever created. You can play with 3 friends online in cooperative missions, or do 3v3, 2v2, or 1v1 matches online. You can also create and participate in user-generated tournaments. There are 5 playable races, Human, Saiyan, Majin, Namekian, and Changelings/Frieza's race all with different stats/attributes that you can customize. Highly recommend, 5 stars. If you love DBZ get this game, If you want a fun fighting game you can sink numerous hours into give this game a shot!
