If you love to build, you should buy this.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is awesome. I spent more than 100+ hrs on it. Cute characters and story is not boring. The most enjoy moment on this game for me is after you finish the game and come back to your island to build whatever you want on it. NPC is smart enough to participate and interact with the room that you make. Try it and you will love it.

Fun building game
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A story about friendship, building. Frame jutters a little. An annoying part is when the evil spirit dialogue comes up it's on skippable and stays on screen far too long and they still haven't patched that. I wish for part 3 to be more like minecraft survival mechanics but with this games visuals and gameplay. Combat like most of these games are basic, eat food to keep your strength up. Dialogue heavy. After beating the game the freedom starts and there are more unlockables.

It is Minecraft, but better!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you like cute dialog? Do you like cute enemies? Do you like a story with a plot? Do you like Minecraft? How about Dragon Quest? Do you like nostalgic call-backs in the form of music, sound effects and characters? If you said Yes to any of these, you'll love this game! Dragon Quest Builders 2 is the sequel to the beloved Dragon Quest Builders game. It improves on the original in almost every way. Much like Minecraft, you are thrown into a world that can be build and destroyed. Enemies abound as you search for valuable resources needed to build bigger and better things. What makes this game stand above Minecraft is the plot. You have to complete tasks in order to advance in the game, and learn more crafting recipes to overcome the challenges the game throws at you. There is a multiplayer part to the game that allows you to build with a friend online, if they also own the game. Your multiplayer level is a sandbox world that has no bearing on the main game story or plot line, so it is neither cooperative or competitive in the main game.

Superior to the first in almost every way..
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked Minecraft, so naturally I liked DragonQuest Builders 1. DragonQuest Builders 2 took everything I loved about the first game and made it better! The world map exploration adds more depth to the game. Can explore other islands to acquire additional crafting items, animals, and personnel and build your paradise. This time you have a sidekick. Although there's a lot of foreshadowing, you can kind of sense that not everything is black and white. Naturally, a lot of new tools have been added to what is an already amazing game. I only wish that they decide to make DragonQuest Builders 3.

Building with love
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn’t a fan of Minecraft, but this game went on sale so I had to buy it. I loved this game, and the characters were great (and cute). Had a pretty good story, and building was so much fun. The battles were on the easy side, I rarely got defeated. I did however die a few times, mostly due to my fault. I did finish the game, but I’m still playing it. You’ll put many hours into this one. I also plan on buying the first game, and I hope it’s just as good. Was there anything I didn’t like? I can only think of one, and that was having to eat. A lot of time I barely found enough eat. You can’t really build or fight when your energy is depleted. After awhile though you’ll be farming and have plenty of food. Do yourself a favor and buy this game!

A Surprisingly Deep Building Game
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first everyone seems to compare Dragon Quest Builders to Minecraft, and while both involve building a world out of square blocks I feel DQB offers so much more. First and foremost it offers goals and structure, which for me was always a big shortcoming of Minecraft, but I know some players prefer totally open play. DQB also features a *fantastic* and surprisingly deep story, while the character dialog is also hilariously funny and filled with some great puns. If your worried that you haven't played the first game, don't worry, this sequel is completely unrelated to the first, as it is set in an entirely different world with a brand new cast of characters. If your a fan of either the Dragon Quest series or builder style games like Minecraft I would highly recommend Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Not just a minecraft clone...or a basic sequal..
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great example of a game being able to be explorable and functional at the same time, while delivering on an expanded list of chores, buildables, quest styles, and character interactions that make you feel invested in the development of your creations.Where games like minecraft have you build with no sense of accomplishment beyond that of self amusement in single player anyway. This games guides you by giving quests and chores that culminate into building what feels like a community.Frustration can be had with some missions being a bit vague on clarification...but trial and error go a long way into the enjoyment of growing a farm,or making a forest out of desert or mountain land...well enjoyed..

Very nice sequel sandbox game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a better game than the first Dragon Quest Builders, but leaves a little bit to be desired. Doesn't line up to the Dragon Quest II story as well as DQB1 did to the first Dragon Quest, until very late in the game. The game does a lot more handholding so its much easier, too, such as providing an AI partner who does most of the fighting for you. Many more construction materials are available though, so once you complete the main story and can build unencumbered by other events there's a lot more you can construct, although there are still some serious limits to scope that sadly weren't increased, such as total room limit still being 100 rooms as it was in DQB1. The online interaction to allow you to view and even visit other people's islands is the real highlight, allowing you to show off to others the things you've made. Main story is 40-50 hours in length but rather easy, and potentially hundreds of hours of play are available after the main story is completed. Good for fans of Minecraft, first Dragon Quest Builders, and similar sandbox building games. Requires teen or adult reading comprehension though due to the presence of townsfolk talking in accents that are potentially incomprehensible to children. PS4 and Switch versions are practically identical, though performance issues such as framerate drops are more prevalent on the Switch.
