Still pictures only
||Posted .I had purchased this tripod so I could get good panoramic pictures. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, as I don't plan on using a tripod that often. The problem is that the swivel is REALLY "notchy". So if you are looking to use tripod for the purpose of panoramic pictures is not the one for you. The stability is also really bad. I have a Nikon P510 camera (which is not that heavy) and when I press the shutter the tripod wobbles (when fully extended). A solution to this is that I will set the timer to 2 seconds and then I can get a clear picture. I do like the fact that it's very light weight, and easy to carry around all day. And if you are using this for family photos and don't want to spend a lot, then I would say go ahead and get this. But if you are looking for something with precision than I would say spend more to get more (stability, smooth movement, etc.). I hope that this can help you in your decision.

Sturdy all the way
||Posted .I am not a professional Photographer, for me the Tripod was meant as something that would hold my camera steady and prevent camera shake as i experimented with my DSLR modes. From experiences I have had with other Tripods, i found the Dyson to be Sturdy but a tad on the weightier side. For me this was not a problem at all, but if you had to carry them around over long distances, it could be a bother. Also, if you were looking for a tripod with quick Setup, then probably look at other options. ME i would take atleast a minute and half to setup the tripod.

Dynex Universal Tripod 60"
Posted .My last tripod suffered an unfortunate accident, as I use them primarily at the gun range (I doubt even a $500 tripod can withstand a direct hit from a few pounds of tannerite)... This Dynex is what I chose as a replacement. I needed a cheap tripod to help with basic point and shoot photographs and video. For what I bought it for, this tripod is excellent! Just remember that it is a $40 unit, and not made to be used, in my opinion, for anything more than a recreational photography aid. As others have said, the controls can be a bit sticky, making panning video shots a bit tricky. This doesn't bother me as I usually set it up and leave it be. It will also occasionally blow over in strong wind. This is expected, and I bring along something heavy to anchor the unit with. I have encountered this with every inexpensive tripod I've owned. I've gone through about half a dozen tripods, so far this one has been the best. It came with a carrying case, and two camera adapters. The additional adapter was a pleasant surprise as I am normally switching between cameras (photo/video) when I'm using the tripod. I would recommend this tripod for the average user. But once again, don't expect $500 quality and durability from a $40 entry-level unit. Treat it with the same care as the camera equipment that gets mounted to it, and it will last a long time. The best part for me, if it takes a stray bullet, or gets inadvertently set up too close to the tannerite again... I can go pick up another for only $40.

Good beginner tripod.
||Posted .This is a pretty good product for what you're buying. This is no where near top of the line, but if you're looking for that I recommend an actual camera store. This is good for the novice who has a DSLR or other type of camera that will screw into the plate for the base of the tripod. I would love for it to have come with extra plates as I have more than one camera and video camera, but they're pretty cheap if you know where to find them. It can get wide at the base, so if you plan ahead and work with it, you can make it work. Great part is you can essentially turn it into a monopod by putting all the legs together. It's fairly sturdy but again, I wouldn't recommend it for higher-quality lenses on your camera as it's easily tipped over. I do love the level feature- that helps ensure some level photos, but the tripod does move when you press the button. best bet if you're trying for accuracy is have your camera either on a timer or a remote control on the tripod.

A Decent Tripod
Posted .While it is not the sturdiest tripod out there, this is definitely a decent item for the money. I use it with a Canon Rebel XTi with the 18-55 kit lens and the 75-300 telephoto. It supports both well. Adjustment is easy enough to do. I was wary of the plastic construction of the tilt plate and hinge, but these have turned out to be fine for my use. The quick release mechanism works nicely once you get used to it. You are provided with 2 mount plates that attach to the standard screw mounts on your camera or big lens. Overall.....it's inexpensive but not cheap. If you need a super strong & heavy tripod, you might want to consider others. But for the average photographer this should do nicely. It's a good product at a fair price. I think the only real down side to this tripod is that it would be nice if it had a plate with a standard "screw-wheel" for those who don't want to mess with the quick release. It would also be nice if BestBuy would stock extra mount plates. If you start adding big lenses to your bag, you will need more.

Good tripod
||Posted .Needed a serviceable tripod for some limited use, not professional photography. This model is inexpensive, meets what I need, lightweight, and has enough stability to keep my Nikon digital steady. I've used it mainly for short videos, works fine for that as well as standard stills. Also, it's easy to use.

Good tripod for the price
||Posted .This is a good tripod for the weekend photographer. No one will mistake this for a professional grade tripod, but it gets the job done. It collapses tightly and comes with a carrying bag. The bag can be a tight fit but is better than similar products in which the bag is not included. The tight hinge mentioned in the "Not so great" section is likely a function of the exact tripod we got rather than a manufacturing defect in all of the same brand/style. Because the legs can be adjusted to a variety of lengths and widths, it works well on a variety of terrains.

Nice inexpensive tripod, lighter than more $$ ones
||Posted .This is my second of this model. It's inexpensive, light, and easy to use. Excellent range of height and maneuverability. Lighter than more expensive models. Only downside I have found is that there's a rubber washer/gasket that keeps part of it locked in. The washer is located at the bottom of the middle section. On my first model, it fell off and I couldnt even tell what was missing. The structural integrity of the tripod was ruined. Now that I know what to look for, even if it falls off, I could easily replace it with a rubber band and I think that would work. But still, it's a small design flaw. That being said, it's a great tripod for a fairly serious amature photographer and I had no hesitancy replacing the first one with the same model after several years.

Q: QuestionHow do I attach a camera or camcorder to my Model: DX-TRP60?There doesn't seem to be a way to do so - both my camera and camcorder have small round openings into which I would expect attach a male piece from the tripod. But the top of my tripod is a flat piece
Asked by Craig.
- A:Answer There should be a shoe attachment that is removed from the head of the tri-pod and screws to the bottom of the camera/camcorder then you attach it on the tripod

Q: QuestionCan someone tell me if this Tripod is good for outdoor shooting?I want to record outside and I am scared it would not stay in solid ground. Also is this compatible to a Samsung hmx-f90.
Asked by Vanessa.
- A:Answer I have been using it outside and it has not been a problem. I do need to poke around the ground to get it steady, sometimes use rocks and such to stabilize the tripod. As far as compatibility, its a universal tripod so it should work with our camera. If you can bring your camera into a Best Buy and try it on their display model. They usually have one out.
