what can i say, it was clearence for $4
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt is exactly what it says it is. Plug and play, never an issue. Personally used with anywhere from 8gb micro sd with adapter, 16gb sdhc, 32/64/128 gb sdxc cards. So it is compliant with large sizes and faster/newer technology sd cards. Very very small, just a tad wider than the typical USB thumb drive, which makes it very easy to store and carry with you. The only bad. It is a USB 2.0 reader. That means max transfer speeds with usb2.0 would/could be 40mbps. This card gives me no higher than 8mbps. That's plugged into a usb 3.0 port, and reading from SanDisk extreme pro sd cards capable of 90mbps read 80 mbps write. So everything other than the reader itself is fully capable of saturating the USB 2.0 interface speeds of 40mbps, yet it only achieves 8mbps. Leaves only the reader itself as the reason for speeds.

bye bye camera cables!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have a canon dslr, fuji point and shoot, etc. My current computer doesn't have the handy little slot that allows you to insert the memory card right into the computer, so in order to upload pictures I would have to always have each camera's different usb connector cable to upload pictures. So now, instead of having to keep track of all those cables, all I need is plug this little gadget into a usb slot, and I can pop the memory card right into the adapter! Especially great when I want to borrow someone else's memory card to upload pictures!

Does what it should
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendRather than buying a new micro usb cable after I lost the one to my camera, I decided to get a usb memory card reader. I chose the Dynex because it was the least expensive in the store on the day I purchased it. It has performed 100% every time I've used it. Instead of fumbling around trying to get the camera memory card into the printer's slot (oh, which stopped recognizing cards anyway), I just slip the card into the reader and plug right into my display monitor usb slot. Easy! Fast!

Great Item that works well
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI needed a USB card reader to replace the one I normally carry around with me. I was hesitant at first about Dynex but I have found this product to work well. It's plastic housing but it still feels durable when handling it. The speeds are on par with most brand name card readers. They were certainly better than my 4 years old card reader. It also has a spot for SD cards as well as Micro SD cards. I actually find this to be a bonus. At the same time it does make the card reader longer (more the size of a jump drive). If it was USB 3.0 compatible I would have given it 5 stars. I'll keep using it until I find it necessary to change.

Truly Excellent and Best Value
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendHad another brand that randomly worked and made me wary of using card readers. Considered plugging my camera directly instead which is inconvenient. This Dynex one works everytime! Dynex - USB 2.0 2-in-1 Memory Card Reader PROS - works, no hassles. - no driver installation required for windows 7 64-bit - small form factor CONS - not a functional issue but with convenient small form factor wish it was a little taller so card could be inserted and removed in certain usb hubs where connectors for cables are lined up close together. not a big deal since i happen to have another hub with plenty of room. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE!

Everyone who uses SD cards should own one!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased this for work as I have clients who bring me photographs and videos taken off of their cellular telephones. This product is quick and easy to use and download. If you use SD cards, you should have one of these on hand to transfer video, audio, photographs, you name it. This will save you so much time as opposed to emailing the media or taking it to some overpriced photo center. Plug it in and let it work. It automatically installs the driver into your computer and operates on its own. You don't have to do anything except wait for the media to come up and then decide whether to save, play, or delete.

Simple product that should be more common.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhy more of these aren't purchased daily, i'm not entirely sure. It's a simple product made for a particular and valuable reason. SD card readers are just pointless to me, so I went with this option. It achieves its expectations losing a star for a strange design flow. I understand that the SD card is longer than a USB stick is wide, but by having it so openly exposed and on the side of a laptop...well that just seems to be asking for trouble. The durability of this product probably isn't great but c'mon...it's a USB stick.

Does the job.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendNeeded a way read a micro memory card without having to add a multi-card reader to my computer. One of my cameras just doesn't connect to the USB as well as it should so the micro-card is easier to read with this. It makes it so all my computers can read the memory cards so it works for 2 desktops, and 3 laptops if needed. Much simpler then trying to upgrade all of them and it comes with us on trips.

Q: QuestionIs this Memory Card Reader the same as a Flash Drive? If so wat's the capacity of it?
Asked by TechNovice.
- A:Answer This is a card reader, not a flash drive. You would need an SD or microSD to plug into the card reader. That card would determine the capacity.

Q: QuestionWhy does one PC read the videos on my card but not another computer, neither are MACs.At school, the reader pops up & I can view my students' videos; however, at home the videos only come up as pictures.
Asked by CAT.
- A:Answer It may be that the videos are a type that your home computer does not have a program that will run it. Such as QuickTime or ADHD file formats. Search the web for a free program to run it.

Q: QuestionFormat questionMy computer says the disk in the reader is not formatted. It asks if I want to format it now. Why is this happening. I dont want to lose all my pictures so I put an old sd card in and tried to format it and I receivecd an error message saying Windows was unable to format the disk. Please advise.
Asked by Randy.
- A:Answer I had this problem under Windows XP Pro, SP2. I downloaded the SDHC update from Microsoft and it still didn't work. I tried the other USB ports on my computer. I tried renaming the drive, as suggested on other troubleshooting websites. The first response to this question, "just use it" is ridiculous. You CAN'T use it. I tried the Dynex card reader in another computer that has an SDHC port and it didn't work. I finally tried another brand of card reader and it works fine. The solution is to return it to the retailer and get your money back.

Q: Questionmemory card reader DX-cr112 instalationI purchased the DX-CR112 memory card reader yesterday and plugged the reader into my MacBook pro laptop with the card in the required slot, but nothing is happening. The blue light on the device is illuminated, so I know I didn't put the disc in improperly. Again, no window pops up. Nothing that tells me to install the device or anything. Please assist!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No software should be needed. It works just like a flash drive does. a drive icon should show up on your desktop. if not, check how the card is formatted. you may need third party software for your mac if its formatted to NTFS or some other format that is not natively read by OS X.

Q: QuestionWhy can, I not delete [clear ] my card ?Memory card does not show up in my computer. How do I erase the pictures on the card?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer If the card doesn't show up in your computer you may need an updated driver for the USB or the reader. The memory card could also be defective. If the card works in the camera, you should be able to delete the photos there...
