Dyson - DC39 Multi Floor Bagless Canister Vacuum - Iron/Yellow

I purchased this vacuum because of the great clearance price. It's true - this machine really has great suction power. I have small dogs, and it does a fantastic job of picking up the loose fur and dirt. Yes, from time-to-time, you have to pull out the hair that wraps around the rotating brush. I've had to do that with every vacuum I've ever owned. I was surprised and disappointed that the wand is entirely made of plastic. I expected metal/aluminum like others. In fact everything about this machine is plastic. This worries me that it won't last. The on/off switch is on the body, which is a bit inconvenient. Most others are on the wand. The power cord is shorter than others too. Another three feet would be nice. Nevertheless, it really does the job and I'm happy. Let's see how long it lasts.

Bought this after a friend recommended it and saw that it was on sale. It's a very good vacuum -- good suction, noise is not as obnoxious (though still loud), and the canister is easy to remove and empty. And it's aesthetically pleasing (we leave ours out in a corner -- no need to hide it away in a closet, though if we had more closet space maybe we would). The price is just really high. If it lasts a long time though, then I'll be ok with that (my old dirt devil can vac is about 15 years old and still humming -- well screaming -- along).

This vacuum is good for floors and area rugs, and you can use it on wall to wall carpet as well, though I would not want to use it if I had mostly carpeting. The suction is good (and it will not work well on small throw rugs due to the strength of it). I like not having to worry about bags (cost, finding them). If you empty it, put it deep within a bag so that the dust does not get around.

Giving this a 5 because it does exactly what it says to do. If you are contemplating the newer purple v this one- they are the same! They may have different accessories but you can buy those separately. Just one is newer and more expensive. I did my research for weeks. It doesn't lose suction and eliminates dander and gets rid of pet hair.

All high quality vacuum cleaners are expensive these days, regardless of the brand. I'd say this one's price is par for the course. A good vacuum is going to cost you. This is my second Dyson and I love it even more than my first, which was a different model that is no longer available. I gave it to my Mom recently and bought myself this model. I see the improvements that have been made. My top 2 are 1) the head is smaller and therefore fits under and around things more easily and 2) the attachments for this one are placed in a more convenient location. The cord is plenty long enough. I honestly have no complaints about this vacuum. Love not having to buy bags and filters.

I have been looking at the Dyson vacuums and appreciate the ads stating all the logical reasons for developing the product. I am pleased that the product lives up to the ads. It is easy to change the attachments for whatever I need and it follows me around the house easily. The canister holds more than I was expecting from all the notices about changing it often. The number one feature I was looking for was good suction and I was not disappointed.

I have owned an Electrolux canister for about 15 years. It needs some repairs and has lost suction. I purchased a $100 upright vacuum to replace it while I decided what type of vacuum to purchase. It did not even last a year. I decided to go with the Dyson canister. It has been a good vacuum so far. It is very easy to change attachments and use the hose in the corners like I'm used to. It is light weight therefore, it is easy to go up and down the stairs. It is also easy to just pick up the vacuum and keep going. The transition from carpet to floor is simple with one switch to stop the beater brush. I love the way it gets under the beds and in tight places. The only negative is that the brush head is too small for large areas of carpets. It takes a little extra time on the larger areas. However, if it wasn't small it wouldn't be able to get in those small spaces. I would recommend this product.

We replaced our Dyson Animal and wanted a canister vac. Our first floor is all hardwood thru-out. Does a great job on the floors. Very easy to do stairs. With the canister on the floor at the bottom I can reach up to the last 2 stairs. Much easier to use than an upright for stairs. Does a great job on scatter rugs we have. Compared a lot of other vacs and the other Dyson canisters and this was the best bang for the buck.
