Features
Upright vacuum cleaner for carpets, hard floors and stairs
Tackles all your vacuuming chores with a special focus on pet hair that tends to embed deep into the fibers of carpets and upholstery.
Tangle-free turbine tool for targeting dirt and hair
Uses counter-rotating heads instead of brush bars so pet hair and other debris won't catch and wind around it. Suctions dirt from all directions for effective cleaning.
Motorized brush bar reaches deep for dirt
Stiff nylon bristles move carpet pile and get at ground-in dirt. The brush bar is more powerful than previous models, but can be turned off to protect delicate rugs and preserve hard floor surfaces.
Soft dusting brush for upholstery and delicate surfaces
Fine nylon bristles gently remove dust while a felt strip down the middle of the brush helps protect surfaces.
Strong suction at the cleaner head
Automatically adjusts to different floor types to improve overall suction.
Bagless Radial Root Cyclone technology for increased suction
No more clogged bags or filters. Flow efficiencies reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure while trapping microscopic particles in the inner cyclones.
Easy maneuvering around furniture and baseboards
The pivoting ball makes steering easier. Since more technology resides inside the ball, there's less external machinery to interfere with your turns.
Easy emptying features
Releases dirt and debris into the trash with the press of a button. The clear bin lets you easily see when it needs emptying.

Got Pets? It's like vacuuming up a whole animal!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love love love my dyson! I have 2 cats and everytime I vacuum I am astounded at the amount of cat hair it picks up. I did the test where I vacuumed my house with my old Hoover Windtunnel and then vacuumed with the dyson and oh my goodness! The dyson was picking up baking soda that I sprinkled on an area rug from MONTHS ago! And the cat hair that my old vacuum left behind...disgusting! (see picture...the aftermath with dyson!) I only wish the hose attachment was easier to use.

Awesome vacuum cleaner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never really realized how much debris was in our carpet until we started using the Dyson DC65. The clear container shows how much debris it picks up. Really easy to turn and move around to. Just don't use it on any small light weight area rugs. It'll eat it up. I was a little skeptical with how expensive it was at first. After using it the first time we decided it was well worth it.

Does it's core function very well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this vacuum yesterday and have used it on the entire house and I have no buyer's remorse. Why did I purchase this vacuum? I wanted a upright vacuum that would do it's main job very well, to vacuum carpet, area rugs and hardwood floors and the Dyson this function very well. In fact I last vacuumed my entire house 4 days ago with my old bagless vacuum which collected 4 canister's of dust/pet hair which was typical. The Dyson which collects the same volume as my old vacuum, collected almost 10 canisters of dust and pet hair! Apparently my old vacuum just wasn't very good in comparison. This vacuum does straight up floor vacuuming very well. Research: I researched with Consumer Reports and other user reviewed sites, and there are other vacuums that had similar ratings as the Dyson DC 65 Animal, but were considerably cheaper, as much as $450 cheaper. So why would I spend an extra $400+ on a this vacuum. We'll a websites and online user review can only tell you so much. I went to Target and Best Buy Stores, which allowed me to handle many different vacuums, feel how sturdy they were constructed, how well attachments fit, how easy they were to carry or move when vacuuming and so on. This was very telling, as the much cheaper vacuum I had intended on purchasing felt as thought I would not be very durable. They Dyson DC 65 Animal, though not entirely durable in every aspect, did appear and feel more likely to stand up to regular use (weekly# in 3400 sq ft house. Since I do all the vacuuming I want one that works without a lot of effort and is durable. Cons: -Cost> I know there are more expensive vacuums. I've owned a Kirby which was over $1200 with accessories, but $600 is still a lot for a vacuum. -The cord> is a tradition self wind system. My old vacuum had a push button self rewind feature which worked very well. This is a modest shortcoming but nevertheless it is something that my old vacuum did better. -Stowing extra attachments> Two of the 'extra' attachments which come with the DC65 Animal are not stowable on the vacuum itself. The 3 main attachments do are stowable. This is more my OCD nature perhaps, but I don't care for lose vacuum parts floating in the back corner of a closet. I predict they will be misplaced, lost, or inconvenient to find when I might want them in the future. -No light.> This isn't a bid deal for me either, but all my pervious vacuums have had a light, some more useful than others. This vacuum works so well, that I don't feel I missed any debris, so the lack of a light is not a significant concern. -Canister latch durability?> The mechanism for opening/emptying the canister is made of a thin plastic. The latching part of this same mechanism on my old vacuum is what broke and made empting the old vacuum impossible as you could not lift out the old canister without most of the contents spilling. This a durability issue that may or may come to pass, but it is concerning. Dyson's literature indicates that they use a superior durable plastic, in any event, the mechanism is quite thin. We shall see. Along with that handle at the top of the canister is also made of plastic and is the main hold for carrying the vacuum on the stair, and a hand hold I used when vacuuming the stair. I doesn't feel as durable as I would like. -Cord management while vacuuming> I like the feature where you can fasten or catch the power cord near the top of the vacuum by the handle so that it's easier to keep out of the way. This vacuum doesn't have that ability and even when you hold the cord with the handle, sometimes you need to use both hands, to move a cushion for instance, and then you have to bend over and grab the cord again. Pros: #There are many# -Vacuuming> floors are excellent. It does this core function exceedingly well. -Auto Height adjustment> Consumer Reports indicates that a "manual" height adjustment is provides superior results. My old vacuums #Hoover Elite Deluxe Bagless and before that a Kirby# had manual adjustment's and aside from the Kirby, the DC65 Animal vacuumed better without any effort or stopping/starting on my part as it automatically adjusts to your floor surface. I have 6 different types/thicknesses of area rugs on hardwood and it handled all of them quite well, all without stopping to adjust the height. It also vacuumed carpet well. The Kirby might have vacuumed a bit more thoroughly, but not by much and it require a much greater effort to use, all things considered. My Hoover, required me to turn off the vacuum, use a difficult dial, try that height and then sometimes re-adjust the height again and most of the time seem too low and as result was difficult to push the vacuum or was too high didn't pick up debris effectively. Another advantage of the auto height feature is catching only unwanted items such as rug tassels, shoe laces and so on. The auto height adjustment for some reason avoided catching loose items and the burning smell the sometime results. Since the auto height also happens without effort the vacuum maintains the same effort to push over various rug piles. -30 foot cord> I had a 24 foot cord before and with the size of my house the extra 6 feet is a benefit. -Attachments > are easy to access, attach, use and store and I was able to vacuum furniture effectively. I didn't have to pull pet hair or otherwise manually clean the end of brush attachments as I didn't on my old vacuums. Nice. Also the range of the main flexible tube is as long as any vacuum I've used and the vacuum didn't tip over when extending the tube near it's limit. The tension on the tube/wand did require a use two hand on to manipulate in extreme angles, but the tube does compact nicely back into place with out having to wrestle with it. -Carrying the vacuum> Sometimes you need to carry your vacuum if you have stairs for instance. The size and design of the vacuum itself and location of the carrying handle on top of the canister made this quite easy. I have a long stair and I used the vacuum without attachments to vacuum the stairs and the hand made this very manageable. -Noise> This vacuum it conservable more quite than any vacuum I've used before save an Oreck. I could hear the phone ring or someone calling to me which I've not been able to in years. -The Ball> I kind of thought this was a gimmick, but I'll admit that the ball makes the vacuum easier to navigate and push around. -Power button> I read a review that the power button was inconveniently placed. My old vacuums required a foot peddle to turn on and off. The DC 65 Animal power button is located just above the top of the canister. I find it a little easier to use then a foot peddle button. Neither method seems inconvenient to me on vacuums I've used. -Edge Vacuuming>- Works better then any vacuum I ever used before including my old Kirby. Since it's easy to move the vacuum around this is pretty slick. -Washing filters> I like this option so that I don't have to purchase filters. -Power - The advertising states "Twice the power". I don't know what method they use to make this claim but I will say it is more powerful than my Hoover and in the end it picks up the dirt, which is all I really care about in the end. -Placing the vacuum in the upright position or vacuuming position> no release button need. Simply rock the vacuum back while applying light downward pressure and the vacuum is in vacuum mode, which and starts the brush system and diverts the air flow. Hinge the vacuum upright and the brush stops #avoids scratching wood floor or wearing rugs out# and automatically diverts the airflow to the top of the attachment tube. Again, no buttons to push and perhaps eventually wear out. There may be another vacuum that works as effectively as the DC65 Animal, at a cheaper price, but aside from trying and returning a bunch of different vacuums, I decided that the DC65 Animal had the decent chance functioning well, would be easy to use and be dependable enough to warrant the higher price. After one day's use, one and two appear to be true, and time will tell if it remains durable. A good tool works well and this is a good tool.

Best Vacuum for Homes with Pets
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. Over the years, cleaning has become quite the job for me. Being a work-from-home-mom, it actually IS my job. And one of my tools of the trade is the best vacuum cleaner I can get my hands on. There’s only one that cleans better than any other vacuum across carpets and hard floors and that’s a DYSON! After having tried so many different styles and brands, I can confidently say, I’ll never buy anything but a Dyson. Currently, we have three different models in our home used for various tasks but my favorite is the bagless upright, the Dyson DC65 Animal. Just as the name suggests, this particular model is designed for homes with animals. Much like the 75% of US homes that have a combination of carpets and hard floors, ours does as well. I’d say that 70 percent of our home is hard flooring with the other 30% being carpeting and a few rugs. While most vacuums can handle the task of switching between flooring types, I prefer the way the Dyson does it. The specially designed cleaning head automatically adjusts for floor/carpet height without ever having to switch a dial. This means I can vacuum my living room hard floor and proceed right onto vacuuming the carpet rug. With the press of a button you can switch between turning the roller brush on (for carpet) and off (for hard floors). Now for our carpet rooms. I find the Dyson DC65 Animal to be my best friend. Why? Well, we have a lab puppy and she can be quite the troublemaker. Just this week, she snagged a bag of Goldfish crackers, tore through the bag and apparently danced on them until my daughter’s bedroom carpet was covered in bright orange cracker pieces. It was quite the mess! I pulled out the Dyson DC65 Animal and put it to the test. In a front and back motion, an entire strip of carpet was cracker free. The amazing suction power makes it easy and quick to vacuum a room because you don’t have to go over areas multiple times. One notable update to this new model is that the brush bar power increased by 25% for superior carpet cleaning. Also, a new configuration of bristles dig deeper into carpets to remove more dirt! What really seals the deal for this vacuum cleaner is the results. After just one room, you can see how much fur was left behind by our 4 shedding pets and captured in the see-through Dyson bin. The easiest part is the one-click emptying feature of the Dyson bin. It easily unclips from the main unit and a single button drops open the bottom of the bin so you can dump the dust, fur and debris right into the waste basket. This vacuum is really an all-in-one cleaning tool when it comes to removing dust, dirt and pet hair from the home. It includes a cleaning wand and accessories to tackle hard to reach jobs like the dust bunnies that collect near the ceiling. And the 180AW of suction makes sure you get every last bit of dust lurking. Also new, the remodeled airflows are designed to help remove more dirt, dust, and allergens from the home. Features I LOVE 35 feet of cord – I can easily plug in the vacuum into the living room and continuously vacuum through the living room, into the kitchen, down the hall and into my son’s bedroom. At that point I need to move the cord to finish the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms. bagless technology – I’ve never been a fan of bagged vacuums. This one has a bagless bin so you can dump depris into the garbage can, clip it back in and keep going. No extra expense! 13-1/2″ cleaning path width – The wide cleaning path means I can vacuum rooms quicker and the edge reaching capability of the cleaning head means I can vacuum right up to baseboards without coming back behind with the wand.

I could vacuum all day long!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. This is my first Dyson ever, and OH MY GOODNESS it is AMAZING. I love this machine so much that I could literally dump my kids' sandbox in the middle of our living room floor just to vacuum again. Not only does it pick up every single crumb of crushed cracker, pretzel, or ground in dirt from outside - it also picks up everything SO close to our baseboards that our previous vacuum had been missing! We have one small pup who sheds like it's her job this time of the year - but this season I've had no trouble keeping the dog hair at bay. I especially love the DC65 attachments for vacuuming up our couch - since that's her favorite spot! As I mentioned, the hose is a bit tight initially, but once you use it enough it stretches easier and isn't a trouble. Honestly, that would be the ONLY concern I had about the machine, and that goes away with time and use - you just have to break it in a little. My son LOVES this vacuum as well, especially since it matches his own mini-Dyson in the same colors! As a mother of a three and one year old, a pet owner, and a fanatical, obsessive-compulsive neat freak - this vacuum might have been the piece I was missing in my life!

Big Fan of Dyson! The DC65 is a great upgrade.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. I've had my old Dyson for 9 years now - and we have loved it very much. It's still working perfectly, but getting a new one to review was a great choice. No animals here - but we've got preschoolers, so that probably counts enough! We love the DC65 - however recently we got new carpet from Carpet One where they told us that Dyson voids the warranty on this carpet because the strong suction and beater bar creates friction/heat, melting the fibers. Other carpets are fine, but if you have a newer high-pile nylon fiber carpet, just be sure you know your warranty. We still choose to use the Dyson on the new carpet - just without the beater bar - because it still picks up more dirt than any other cheap vacuum that would work with the carpet. We also use the Dyson Handheld to spot clean the new carpet. Using the DC65 like normal in the other rooms that don't have the nylon carpet is perfect. Love how it makes the carpet look and feel after being done! It's lighter and easier to move than our old DC15, and has a longer wand extension. Love the new features.

Fantastic Vacuum!

This vacuum is beyond awesome. I've always wanted a Dyson as I heard so many great things about them and this vacuum did not disappoint when it arrived. This is my first Dyson and I'm never going back! I have pets, kids, and animals on carpet. This vacuum can handle it all. It doesn’t clog. We have an apartment and it moves with ease around our apartment and gets into all the tight corners. It glides easily on carpet and hardwood and it has a clear bin that you simply have to empty to clean. No bags needed! It's well worth the price of this amazing vacuum.

Q: QuestionHow do I release the wand on my DC 25I have a DC Animal 25. I just got it from a thrift store and have cleaned all of the filters. It appears to be in excellent condition. I have an older Dyson without the ball and am familiar with most of the features. I can get the wand to extend on my old vacuum by pressing in on the yellow plastic which is located above the on/off switch on my older vacuum. This area to press in to release the wand is not on the DC 25. How do I release the wand. I can't get it to come out so I can use it?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi this is Jessica with Dyson. The DC25 wand is a quick draw wand - no need to press a release. Flip the cap that covers the wand and pull straight up on the wand, the wand and handle should disconnect from the machine. Keep in mind the power cord but be unwound first. If for any reason this does not work please email askdysonus@dyson.com - we are happy to help resolve this issue. Best wishes, Jessica

Q: Questionwhat is the difference between DC41 and DC65?It appears that the specifications for DC41 and DC 65 are the same. What is the difference?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi it's Joe from Dyson, Thank you for your inquiry. The main difference between DC41 and DC65 is that DC65 has 25% more power in the brushbar motor to remove dust and dirt from carpets. The cyclones in DC65 have been re-tuned, meaning that the geometry of the inlets as well as the diameter of the vortex finders have been modified to allow more airflow to pass through them. Q: QuestionHOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO PUSH/PULL VAC OVER MEDIUM PILE CARPETIS IT APPROPRIATE FOR HARDWOOD FLOORS??
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Extremely easy. Pullback isn't that bad. Most vacuums make you feel like you're fighting the power head just to get back for your next swipe, this just seems to flow. It will work on hardwood, but Dyson cautions the user in the manual not to leave it in one place to long, or you could damage the floor. There is a button which turns off the brush for hardwood floor, so you're cleaning with suction only. That's how Dyson recommends you clean the hardwood floors with this model.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between DC65 animal and DC65 animal complete
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Simply the number of tools/accessories included. You get more with the "complete" version. I have the complete and don't use half the tools. In hindsight I would just purchase the NON-COMPLETE version. It's all marketing.

Asked by Joelaf.
- A:Answer Yes, it can reach under these areas with a decent amount of clearance. I can vacuum a few inches under the couch with ease and picks up at the edges as well. It can be used on carpet and hard floors, it automatically adjusts the height of the cleaning brush and there is a simple easy to push button that turns the beater bar on and off.
