ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO T8+ is an all-in-one vacuuming and mopping robot with TrueDetect advanced 3D obstacle avoidance. It detects and cleans around furniture and objects like shoes and cords for hassle-free, uninterrupted cleaning. TrueMapping™ laser navigation scans, maps, and plans an efficient cleaning path faster and more precisely to prevent missed or repeated areas. The OZMO™️ mopping system vacuums and mops in one go, with precise water flow control and automatic carpet detection and avoidance. The Auto-Empty Station conveniently empties the dustbin into a disposable bag for weeks of maintenance-free cleaning.
Q: what is the difference between T8 AIVI and T8+?
A: I was also looking for this since there isn't much information available anywhere on the T8 (non AIVI). Also the + stands for "Plus Auto-Empty Station" I finally google searched "Deebot T8 release date" and this is what I found on Ecovacs website about the difference between the T8 and T8 AIVI: "The DEEBOT T8 is designed to appeal to users who don’t need the camera monitoring function of the DEEBOT T8 AIVI but demand the best cleaning experience". This statement was taken from this article on Ecovacs website here: https://www.ecovacs.com/us/about-ecovacs/newsroom/official-news/ECOVACS-Expands-T8-Series
Q: what is the difference between T8 AIVI and T8+
A: The T8+ is actually the T8 with the Auto Dust bin The T8 uses TrueDetect 3D technology (lasers) for object avoidance. The T8 AIVI uses a camera for object avoidance. You can also view through the camera with your phone and talk to your pets via one way communication. It also builds a database of things to avoid.
A: In regards to question #1 for voice command of specific rooms... I just tested it and it works, but it is limited. It can only voice command clean pre-determined labels (you cannot custom label a room) that you set through the app for areas of your home. Those labels are currently: kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, study, bathroom, laundry, lounge, storeroom, sun room, kids room. "Hey Google, tell deebot to clean the kitchen" successfully sent the vacuum to clean the kitchen only. What I don't know is what will happen if you have more than one bedroom or bathroom that you want to send it to. Alexa seems to have a more robust command library, but I don't have an Alexa to test it out with.
Q: What is the manufacturer warranty/ other general warranty conditions/period for this product?
A: Hi, The DEEBOT comes with a one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. Should you need any assistance please reach out to Ecovacs Customer Service Support Center to help out with any questions you may have. Best, Ecovacs Customer Care.
Q: Will this work without internet? (Or, what will or what will not work?) Thank you!
A: Hi, Pleas kindly note that Deebot T8+ supports the networking function, but if there is no Wi-Fi at home, you can directly press the Auto Mode Button on the machine to start the machine. If you need to use some of the functions after networking, such as setting a scheduled appointment, mapping function or other setting, you can connect to the machine through the mobile hotspot, and you need to modify the online setting function next time, you can connect to the hotspot again. Note: The machine will display offline when the hotspot is turned off. No network will not affect the normal use of the machine. But some functions will be limited. Should you need any assistance please reach out to Ecovacs Customer Service Support Center to help out with any questions you may have. Best, Ecovacs Customer Care
A: I did a review of the 3D vs the AIVI. I touched on the topic of the 3D on carpet. My experience was the 3D worked great on most carpet. It may have some issues on higher/thicker carpet. Such as shaggy rugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOSzyaNgHso
A: Your first question, yes. The self emptying station can be used as purely a charger and will not run IF you leave the top of the bin open. So if you don't want the emptying station to run, leave the top open. Your second question. You can remove the roller brush if you want, but the unit does not come with a vacuum only head. We have delicate wood floors and DO NOT remove the brush and it hasn't caused any problems with the floors. The vacuum will run with the roller brush removed, how effective the cleaning is, I don't know.
Q: Can the vacuum map both stories of my house and be moved upstairs and downstairs as needed?
A: Theoretically it can, but it is so unreliable that you will have to remap each floor at each session. It is better to leave it handle just one floor and never ever move the charging station (not even 1/16 of inch). Pick another robot which manages maps better.
