Awesome Mesh Wi-Fi - Big Improvement

I live in a two-story 3,500 sq/ft home with very thick walls/floors in a hurricane zone (rough sketch of the 1st floor with eero placement - attached). I’ve had a difficult time getting Wi-Fi throughout my house using the Mediacom modem/router combo. I live in a rural community and the internet speed varies wildly throughout the day; it is never constant. We’re supposed to get 1 Gbps speed, which I have never achieved, even plugging directly into the modem with the Mediacom Tech at my house. My best Wi-Fi speed I can get (and not often) is around 650 Mbps when I stand 3 feet from the router. The normal speed we get in the family room is between 200-350 Mbps. My biggest problem was that my son’s computer in the computer room achieved less than 100 Mbps speed because of the thick walls and horrible Wi-Fi transmission from the Mediacom router. I took the eero assessment and it recommended the eero 6+ with three nodes. I plussed up to the eero Pro 6 AX4200 3-pack (so I could get the benefits of the Tri-band system); placing eero #1 next to the modem/router in the Family Room, #2 in the Computer Room, and eero #3 right above eero #1 in the Master Bedroom on the second floor. eero #1 is in direct line of sight of eero #2. The eero nodes are not connected with ethernet cables. I plugged an ethernet cable into the 2nd port on eero #1 and it is connected to the Family Room TV. I used the manual and the set up was very easy. It doesn’t matter which eero node you use from the set of three to plug into the modem/router. Some of the YouTube videos had different systems or gave different instructions. I did follow the advice to label the eero Wi-Fi with the same name and password as what I had on the Mediacom modem/router combo. The Result – Incredible change in speed of the Wi-Fi that we receive throughout the house. The speed is about the same in each room with one of the eero nodes, I even get an excellent signal in the garage now. As you move to other rooms there is a slight drop in the speed, but not by much, and exponentially higher levels of speed than before with using just the Mediacom modem/router. We could never get a solid signal upstairs, now with the eero Pro 6 we get a solid signal to drive all of our smart TVs in the upstairs bedrooms. While it doesn’t make our Mediacom internet signal faster or more consistent (HA!) – the eero Pro 6 is a game changer in making my family happier! This is one of the best/”most bang for your buck” tech purchases that I’ve made from BestBuy. Best advice not in any of the manuals - I saw in one of the video reviews where the author indicated that you need to bridge your router prior to plugging in the eero. I called Mediacom, and the tech confirmed this and placed my modem/router combo into bridge mode. This is the condition where your router no longer transmits or receives any wireless signals, all the signals now go through the eero mesh Wi-Fi. The tech explained that if you don’t bridge the router, then you could have a degraded signal emitting from the eero because the signal strength is split between the router and the eero, and there could be other complications.
