Synopsis

Elektra
Daredevil's main squeeze gets resurrected in her own flick with this spin-off martial arts actioner from director Rob Bowman (Reign of Fire, The X-Files: Fight the Future). Jennifer Garner returns to the role of Elektra Natchios, a hired assassin whose origins are finally revealed after her old ninja clan the Hand brings her back from the dead to serve their evil purposes. Reunited with her old sensei, Stick (Terence Stamp), Elektra leaves the past behind her and is eventually given an assignment to kill Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic) and his daughter, Abby (Kristin Prout). When her conscience gets the best of her and she decides to protect them instead, it's up to the Hand's top assassins to track her down and finish the job. Fans of Marvel Comics might recognize Natassia Malthe as Typhoid Mary, another nemesis of Daredevil that joins in the hunt, along with other masters of the dark mystic arts, Tattoo (Chris Ackerman), Stone (Bob Sapp), and the Hand's fearsome leader, Kirigi (Will Yun Lee). ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

Not as bad as most reviews...but not very good

Wow, what a bad idea: Show one scene at the beginning featuring Elektra in costumed action, then let more than an hour pass before she gets back in the outfit. Also, while Jennifer Garner was good in the role in "Daredevil," she somehow doesn't pull it off as well here. She seems more wholesome than hot, never convincing as a cold-hearted hired assassin. And the movie's band of super-powered villains are the ridiculously over-powered type who should have been able to dispatch Elektra in about three seconds, so the fights don't make much sense. The movie's "junior Elektra," played by Kirsten Prout, is okay, but she looks older in the movie's early scenes than she does at the end. (Shot out of chronological order, perhaps.)

    Jennifer Garner is HOT

Elektra as fleshed out by Jennifer Garner has so much potential as a super heroin that it's almost cringeworthy that the character of Abby was so mis-handled. Terrance Stamp is perfect as Stick. The villians were an almost-got-there attempt at copying Ninja Scroll. The fights, suspense, and tension are great, but the pace of the movie took some serious hits in the editing room. Now that we know what she's about, Elektra deserves a sequel that kicks more butt than the original. Elektra has potential, but this would get three stars if I was not in love with Jennifer Garner... ;) Only recommended if you are either a Marvel or Jennifer Garner fan.

Hot chick in tight clothes. Yup, that sells. So, does Elektra work in spite of that? I think so. I loved the action and thought Jennifer Garner did a decent job in the role. In fact, I think her time in Alias helped to fill the bill. As a movie, this is a typical plot we've seen time and time again. Good vs. Bad, "I'm retired" only to take "one more assignment". Barring all that and knowing it's really a predictable movie, it WAS good. It wasn't fantastic but it was a strong flick that's worth seeing more than once.

Jennifer Garner is stunning as Elektra, and so is Kirsten Prout who plays a very well done Abby Miller. You have to have an imagination to watch this film, because everything is exaggerated when compared to reality, like Elektra getting kicked in the face and flying through the air for about 20 feet. The CGI is simplistic compared to Spider-man and Daredevil, but i think that is why it is so good. Because it gives the movie a very comicbook look.

I purchased this for the main reason that I am a nerd and I want to own every Marvel superhero movie. I really enjoyed Daredevil (I am the only one among my friends that did), so I figured this would pick up where the other left off. It did, but it lacked the same character that I felt that Daredevil had. Still, not a bad overall movie. I think Jennifer Garner does a good Elektra.

Jennifer Garner plays the title role with sublime dexterity and impresses throughout with amazing sword play and super hero antics extraordinaire. The usual bad guy good guy plot with a young female protege mentored by Jennifer shows originality and some fine scenes touching and action throughout. A fine little getaway from the Summer rerun circuit on television. Recommended as great fun.

Look we all know what this is. Back when comic movies were still in that weird niche where it was cool to get one and you knew it was gonna suck anyway so just shut up and enjoy what you get, they made Daredevil. And it made enough money that the execs shrugged their shoulders and went "eh, we already have the character, I guess let's go ahead and do Elektra too"

Well let's be honest, we're talking about the movie Elektra here. If you are not either a diehard comic book fan for some kind of a Jennifer Garner fan, you might want to go ahead and skip this one. Both this movie and Daredevil are non-stop 90's clichés in motion picture form.
