I like option for motor and hand crank. The hand crank may not hold up as well since seems a little off on alignment. Motor works well. Have used only for 2-guart recipes so not sure if motor shuts off when ice cream hard. Wooden bucket give nostalgic look. Like the plastic prod stick. Hope to enjoy many times!!

With both a motor and hand crank, this ice cream maker is the best of both worlds. Purchased just in time for a summer heatwave, making home made ice cream all the more appealing. It comes with a guidebook detailing exactly how to use it and includes recipes for a variety of flavored ice creams, gelato, and sorbets, and at a 4 quart size, it makes enough to last a couple of weeks. However, the handle for the hand crank came on backwards and needed to be flipped around. The instruction booklet claims the motor will automatically shut off when the ice cream becomes too thick for the blending spatula, but I have yet to see it turn itself off. The hand crank as a whole had to be oiled to reduce the squeaking, but all in all, the effort put into it pays off. Would definitely purchase again in the event my current one breaks.

I haven't actually used this ice cream maker yet, but I'm familiar with this type of model. I've used this type for years and years. It's great fun for family gatherings. Make sure you plan ahead and just enjoy the process; it's not instant ice cream. The ordering process was simple and easy, and the product arrived sooner than I had expected.
