don't stick your nose up at this movies
|Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis is a fun movie with a great cinematography. If you enjoy period piece movies you'll enjoy this one Anya Taylor-Joy is a great Emma in this movie. I think no matter your age you'll enjoy this movie if not by the colors and the costume designs they use, is just on point definitely worth buying for that alone. I've enjoyed Anya's performance in other movies so I bought this I was happy I did. it has commentary by the director as well and some more extra's.

An entertaining take on the classic
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendMy wife and I are huge fans of the old Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma, but this one looked intriguing, so we bought it. It was very watchable, with all the different actors bringing different flavors to familiar characters. Anya does a wonderful job of portraying a sarcastic spoiled brat, and is a talented actress in her own right. However, she does NOT do romance well, and I was unaffected through all of her "emotional" scenes. The crying seemed very forced, so I'm going to say she will do much better on the comedy side of things. Gwyneth, though not British, could create scenes that were much more touching, and now I want to buy the Blu-ray of that version. Mia Goth, who played Miss Smith, was more affecting during her emotional scenes, and she is better suited for the genre. Overall, definitely worth watching again.

Jane Austen story
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendReally enjoyed this one. Infused with humor and some fine performances (particularly Mia Goth), this Jane Austen based story is entertaining and witty. Worth seeing again and again!

Lovely film
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI really enjoyed this film. Visually stunning, and a great retelling of Emma. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is that, just like with many newer films, the sound disparities between dialogue and background music/noises makes viewing the film a little challenging. You can have the volume at a level to understand dialogue, but then get blasted by sound/music, or have the volume at a decent level for the noises, but can barely hear the dialogue. This problem is not solely with this film, but rather most-all movies produced in the last few years, but sadly it's making movie watching almost untenable for my family. But overall, this is great work and a nice distraction from current life.

Good Movie but not what I was looking for
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThe movie was good. I only knocked down the rating because I didn't intend on buying this movie but because the movie that I went into Best Buy for wasn't available even though it showed that they had it online. Then when I tried to order the other movie while in store, it was unpurchaseable.

Family Favorite
|Posted .Owned for 7 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendSo good! My wife introduced me to Jane Austen movies, and this one is my favorite non-mini-series one. Perfectly paced, superbly acted, instantly quotable. We saw it in theaters shortly before the pandemic hit, then immediately bought the Blu-ray when it was released and have watched it 2-3 times since. We've also gifted it to others.

A Worthy Addition to Jane Austen Adaptations
