The engine itself is fairly simple and allows people who have no prior experience in game creation to get started somewhere. The learning curve is very low, but once you get into custom coding, there is a drastic increase in depth where you can cater the presentation and mechanics of your game for an original experience. Enterbrain has about twenty years of experience making these games, so their engine is very polished, bug-free, and fairly malleable. I think the best thing about using this engine, however, is the fact that the RPG Maker community is just about the best online gaming community I've ever found, and help for just anything regarding this engine exists.
