    Synopsis

    Eragon
Industrial Light and Magic special-effects wizard Stefen Fangmeier makes the leap into the director's chair with this coming-of-age fantasy concerning a young boy whose discovery of a mysterious dragon egg leads him on a predestined journey to become a Dragon Rider and defend his peaceful world against an evil king. Based on the best-selling novel by Christopher Paolini, Eragon tells the tale of the titular character (Ed Speleers), a humble farm boy living in the land of Alagaësia, whose life is forever changed when he discovers that he has been chosen to fight the most powerful enemy his world has ever known. Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, and Djimon Hounsou co-star in a film produced by Davis Entertainment and adapted from the novel by screenwriters Peter Buchman, Larry Konner, and Mark Rosenthal. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

It is a good movie that is close to the book

If you haven't read the book it starts as our hero Eragon dreaming of some one (will be named later) who is running from a dark wizard. Later while hunting through the forest Eragon finds a big blue stone and takes it. Later the stone hatches and a little blue baby girl dragon comes out. She grows up after a little while as Eragon finds out about Dragon Riders. Not long after Saphira grows to full leangth Eragon's uncle is killed and he is taken by a "town drunk" who turns out to know more about dragons then he let on. While on their path to find the last of the Varden (people who faught aginst the king) they deal with Razacs, and the kings forces as well as find the woman who Eragon was dreaming about. Its a good movie but some of the goofs are painfuly obvious, but that is what makes some movies so unforgetable

      Disappointing Movie

I watched this movie before I read the book and absolutely loved it. It stronglyreminded me of Lord of the Rings. But then I read the book and rewatched the movie. I ended up hating it! First of all, Eragon is supposed to be 15 when he finds Saphira. And the characters didn't look anything like what was described in the book. It was VERY different from the book. It's really disappointing because the book had a lot of potential to being made into a great movie. It seems like they would come out with the next movie, Eldest, but by the looks of it, it's probably not going to be made.

      Reminds me of another story

This movie was recommended to me by 'futuremrsbrazil' to watch this movie, but it reminded me of two other saga movies, namely Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I liked it but with the young farm boy learning about dragon riding, it was too much like Luke Skywalker learning about the Force. Okay, what happened to the farm boy's brother? He left at the beginning of the movie and never returned, but the ending left an openning of a sequel, just like Lord of the Rings. I don't think it will continue, because the tickets sales was low.

I read the book and this movie is so far off from the book I don't see how they can continue the series. I think they spent practically their entire budget 'designing' the dragon but very little on EVERYTHING else. I mean come on back in the '60's they could at least make the aliens look non-human. It was hard to tell who was human and who wasn't as EVERYONE looked human. In my opinion too much was left out and or changed from the book I just think they really dropped the ball on this one.

My BF is the one who wanted us to see this movie. I have to admit I was apprehensive at first, but when the movie ended we agreed that it was one of the best movies we had seen. The ending makes you so excited for part 2. The only thing I didn't like was the ghostlike dragon was too easy to destroy.....ANXIOUSLY WAITING PART 2!!! lol

I enjoy this movie every time I sit and watch it with my kids. It's a nice story. The special effects are well done. Who wouldn't want a dragon after watching this movie? The kids will love it.

OK the movie is good but the reason to buy this dvd is to watch the extras on the 2nd disk. Their are deleted parts and if you look deep enough you will find out about the 3rd book and the 2nd movie. Its a really good movie that will show you the world of Eragon.

I'm a fan of movies with dragons. Dragons are cool. Not as good as Dragonheart or Reign of Fire, but still good. Picked it up on sale for $7.99 and it came with $8.00 in Movie cash to see Maze Runner: Scorch Trials. Can't beat that deal.
