I had never heard of Lucinda when I found out she was opening for Neil Young at his Greendale concert in Pittsburgh. I bought a CD just to be familiar with what I was about to hear. I was simply blown away, as was my twenty-something companion who listened to Essence on the way to the concert. She hits all the "I feel sorry for myself" emotions prior to belting out one of the hottest, sexiest songs I've ever listened to, that being the title cut. I've purchased other classics since like "Car Wheels" and have seen her twice since. Great songwriter and great arrangements. Highly recommended.
