Great outdoor cameras
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several of these cameras around the outside of my house. This is the latest one as it replaced a camera meant for indoor use, and I wanted this one to blend in more to my porch. I also have several battery powered Eufy cams, but I really do prefer these wired cams if you have access to wire them. Image quality is great, and I like that a micro sd card is a storage option. The spotlight is actually quite powerful, and lights up the entire porch when it comes on. I have also been impressed with motion detection, and the Eufy app is real nice as you can select the type of motion to detect, along with other settings. Overall, I recommend this camera if you have the ability to wire it to power.

High quality picture & hardware, flexible app
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Anker products for many years now (the parent company of Eufy). And I've used the Eufy Floodlight Camera for a while and like them. (And I have 3 Floodlight cams now, 1 waiting to be installed, only delayed because I found out the fixture I was replacing wasn't installed to code so I need to get a new fixture box to do it properly.) I purchased these Eufy Outdoor Cams to start replacing my previous Nest cameras where I don't need the floodlights. (I like the Nest Cameras, but the price is very steep, and I'm paying yearly and they constantly use upstream bandwidth for my connection, where the Eufy video is stored on memory cards on the device, but with a cloud option as an add-on, but *not required*. There's definitely pros and cons to either, but I prefer having the option. And the Nest cameras are very good quality, but the Eufy cameras seem to be very comparable, both for picture and durability and waterproof design. From inspecting them from the outside, they seem very well designed. I have 2 Nest cams and a Nest doorbell to go to replace with Eufy cameras and the Eufy doorbell, plus extra cameras I am adding for full outdoor coverage, something I couldn't afford to do if I continued using Nest.) Settings up zones is simple, and customizing the notifications is fairly straightforward once you get used to where various options are in the Eufy Security app. I included photos from one camera - it took just a few minutes to setup 2 zones so I get notifications from movement on the steps and my gate, but it won't record motion detected in the neighbor's yard. (unless it's right next to the fence, but being chainlink that couldn't be avoided) I also adjusted the zone so my outside HVAC unit won't trigger motion when the fan turns on. (And I included a photo showing my zones - in the photo it has a bigger gap around the HVAC, but I will tighten that up once I trim the overgrown foliage - and yes there is a gate hidden behind that small jungle :). But when the HVAC fan turns on it would also move the leaves near it, so that's why I currently have a larger gap, but it's fast an easy to adjust once I get that trimmed.) You can also setup different notification types for different zones, for example if you wanted notifications for people entering the gate to be setup differently than pets going up and down the steps, which is what I did - I'll get pet notifications through the gate zone, but not the steps - so I don't get alerts just when the dogs go outside to potty for example. But I get human notifications for both zones. And for the area outside the zone, I have notifications and event recording off, so I don't get notifications from things in the neighbor's yard. Setup went very smoothly - and I haven't had any Wi-Fi connection issues. Although after installing the 1st camera, I did add an outdoor Wi-Fi access point just for my outdoor cameras, and switched it over. This wasn't due to any problems, but because I wanted to have a dedicated Wi-Fi access point for my outdoor cameras (I have one on the front and back of the house), since by the time I'm done switching my cameras from Nest and adding additional cameras it could be more potential Wi-Fi traffic, and this gives all of them a better signal because it doesn't have to pass through the denser outer walls of the house, and won't be shared with other devices inside. And the outdoor access points are also on a different channel than the indoor to reduce interference between them. And as a bonus, now I have good Wi-Fi in my yard for devices if I need it. Although my outdoor Wi-Fi access point is not a Eufy product, I am mentioning it because depending on your house, and your Wi-Fi, you may have spots outside where the camera cannot get a strong signal - this is not due to the camera as they have good Wi-Fi in my experience, just due to the Wi-Fi limitations in general (distance, going through walls, and other devices sharing the access point can all affect the stability). So adding a $60-80 outdoor Wi-Fi access point was my choice to prevent this type of issue, and I mention it here just as one solution to think about if you do happen to run into problems with a weak Wi-Fi signal outside where you want your cameras. (This will vary depending on many factors, but in some cases could also make the camera response a bit snappier as well.) Physical installation was also very simple. There are two options: One using adhesive for the mounting plate, and the other drilling a single screw to the mounting plate. I chose to drill a hole, as the adhesive wouldn't have worked as well on wood. This process was fast and easy, and then the camera attaches to the mounting plate using magnets in the camera, and there is a little clip portion on the plate that holds the USB power cable as well. (So if by chance it falls in a strong storm with high winds, it will at least still hang by the cable, instead of impacting the ground. I haven't had this happen though, but it's nice to know if it does come off the mounting plate, the camera still won't fall - although probably still hard on the cable if that happens. But my older Nest cameras that use a similar magnetic mount have never had any issues, so I don't expect these to either.) I do wish the magnets covered a slightly larger area on the back of the camera though. I was still able to angle the camera enough for the one I needed to angle the most. (And my other cameras won't have this issue because they won't have to be angled much at all.) But before installing the mounting plate, test this out - if you need the camera to be pointed sideways compared to the mounting plate, you may want to either find a different location, or add something behind the mounting plate, like an angled block, so the mounting plate is angled to start with to ensure the camera has a tight enough magnetic hold. But in my case it worked out fine, you can see the angle in one of the photos. But if I had to go much farther I would have added an angled block between the mounting plate and the mounting location. Also - in some of the screenshots an outdoor light is on - I turned that on before taking the screenshots on purpose, just to show that the glare from the light (which is rather close to the camera) doesn't have a huge impact on the image. And then I turned it back off and took another screenshot to show the night vision quality. I'm definitely happy with my Eufy cameras, and glad I decided to switch to them over Nest, as it will save me money, and allow me to have better coverage around the house because I can afford to get more.

Love video quality, built in person detection, 24/7 recording capability, good night vision with spot light, good usable app for control and viewing. Couldn't resist $20 off sale, so bought TWO.

Dies after one year, customer service unhelpful
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality in day and night-time and ease of use is great while it works. Can speak through the camera, pretty sensitive except for showing cars that show up in your driveway, and has a variety of options to adjust. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is that it craps out after exactly 1 year. I bought this thing 01/2022 and it stopped working around 02/2023. I had bought a new adapter per their FAQ and that extended it by a few weeks. Then it crapped out again. Their warranty is only good for one year so just missed it. I'd expect more longevity for the price I paid at the time. I had bought 2 Blink cameras back in 2019 and they still both work perfectly per my father. I decided to go with this option because now I rent an apartment and I did not want to drill in an outdoor security camera mount above the door. Saw that this had a magnet mount and thought that it was perfect. Also saw the picture quality was maybe a bit better than what Blink offered. Another reason for the two starts is that customer service is pretty useless. After going to the FAQ and trying everything including, like I said, buying an entirely new adapter of appropriate voltage, and the camera still not powering on, I e-mailed customer service. I had initially said that I had purchased this camera 01/2022 and it isn't powering on then they'd offer a replacement after I provide proof of purchase, which I did. Then, after I provided that with my shipping address, they stated that they cannot do it since it had been more than a year. I had already mentioned in my first e-mail I had bought it more than a year ago so why would you offer then retract after the fact? It just gives the impression that they aren't really reading e-mailed inquiries. Just rubbed me the wrong way. Would be a great camera if it last more than a year. Guess I'll just have to try other options or ask my landlord if drill mounting a new Blink camera is okay. Overall: -1 star for dying after one year -1 star for no sensitivity to cars -1 star for unhelpful customer service If you have the budget to continue purchasing one of these every year, then, sure, it's a good buy. I'd at least like for it to last at least 2 years before dying to show that it was worth the price especially since I could get 2 blink cameras for the price of 1 of these nowadays.

Love this Camera!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best Camera we've used so far. We have Arlo, Ring and a couple cheaper units that you can move the view with your phone. The Eufy gives you a snapshot of what activated it to record. It tells you if it was a Human or pet. You can set up zones to record or ignore. It has an alarm you can activate. I don't have to purchase any plan to store recordings. It comes with a micro SD card.

Great Cameras
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are great quality cameras. I also have a few indoor versions. This black one is nice and stealthy. I wish they had more black options or at least for Bestbuy to receive more black versions. The clarity is excellent and sensors work perfectly. The light is also very handy.

Q: QuestionCan you scan thru recordings on phone or do you have to remove the SD card to look back at history?
Asked by Silver.
- A:Answer As long as you have it set to mark events (i.e., motion detection is on), you can scan on your phone. It's not super intuitive as to how, so if you get one, here's what you'll need to do. You'll go to the camera view in the app, and at the bottom of the screen is a menu with "Record", "Screenshot", etc. on it. You'll slide that up to see more options, pick "Event", then go to the calendar. Dates with dots under them have events, which you can then watch.

Q: QuestionCan you use this with a extension cord ? The area I would place it is a little over 20 feet.
Asked by Gunor.
- A:Answer YES OR YOU COULD ALSO BUY A LONGER USB WIRE.
Answered by SIDEBYSIDE
Q: QuestionCan you turn off the spotlight? or perhaps configure it to only activate after certain times?
Asked by Arthur.
- A:Answer There is a setting to turn the spotlight on and off. Within that there is a "auto spotlight" for it to work when motion is detected. And then there is also a setting to schedule the spotlight.
Answered by EufySad
Q: QuestionPlan to put this inside behind window. Will the window glass interfere with the spotlight? And when is this spotlight used (I don’t think I would need it… maybe opt to not turn on?)
Asked by PWR.
- A:Answer The light will reflect on the glass making it impossible for the camera to see. I have two of their indoor cameras mounted in windows but there’s enough light at night to where my cameras don’t need additional light. These are very good cameras. I recommend you getting a motion activated solar light and place it outside the windows if needed. I have this cameras in the rear of my property which is pitch black at night. I have its auto night vision on and the spotlight to come on when motion is detected.

Q: QuestionThere's no instructions. How do I mount it? So it plugs into my outdoor outlet, it doesn't look weatherproof?
Asked by GrammaB.
- A:Answer There is a metal mounting plate you just screw that to where you are going th mount the camera. Then place the camera on the metal plate

Q: QuestionAre you going to answer all the questions in this thread?
Asked by Hank.
- A:Answer No
Answered by Joshy
Q: QuestionWas wondering if this can be tied into my existing Guardian security app. Is it z-wave compatible?
Asked by Loutrim.
- A:Answer It is WiFi 2.4ghz only and requires the Eufy Security app. It can integrate with Alexa and Google for voice commands, but doesn't work with any other security platform.
Answered by EufyUser
Q: QuestionCan you set surveillance zones/areas in the app? I live on a busy street and don't want to get alerts each time a car passes by
Asked by Tim.
- A:Answer Yes, you can set up specific zones. I did because of the same issue.
