After a couple months of using the vacuum it was time to empty the canister and clean the filter. Okay, it seemed to have less suction after that. I think I did that probably another two months later and got even less suction. Now we're at just over six months and the brush pushes the dirt around and doesn't pick up. On the tool setting, pretty much the lightest suction you can imagine. Having said that, you'd think I was using it daily and cleaning really dirty areas. Not the case at all. I've used it 2-3 times a month in a master bedroom and loft space and occasionally in other bedrooms around my home -- which is only slightly older than this vacuum and doesn't get much traffic (no kids or pets!). I decided to write this review now becaus I've bought a new vacuum this week. Sure, I'll take this unit apart and see if I can clear all the filters, etc., but my frustration is that I can't rely on this vacuum. I'm a Gen Xer and grew up in a home where my mom used the same Hoover vacuum (with a couple of trips to a repair store to replace the cord after it got sucked into the machine) the entire time I lived with my parents (a couple decades) and I'm pretty sure it was still capable of working in recent years. I guess half a year was too much to ask for as 2015 approached.

Tool attachments are very easy to use. Hose is flexible and there is a tool to floor switch. Beater bar has a shutoff when using tools! Easy to use. I've used a lot of vacuums over the years and this is by far the most pleasant vacuum I've ever used! It really has great suction pulling dirt and pet hair out of my carpet! It really has great section pulling dirt and pet hair out of my carpet. Not to heavy because you empty the dirt after every use. Love the auto windup cord button.. Slow controlled. Love it!

this is a good vacuum for a medium-size home. The cord length is adequate and provides great maneuverability on hardwood floors. The cord length is good and the vacuum is light enough to carry upstairs. The only drawback is the attachments. The tools don't stay on the hose very well, and the vacuum falls over when you try to use the hose.
