I'm not a fan of black metal as a whole. I love early Opeth, and I have all the Agalloch albums, but that was as far as I went. The theme of Opeth and Agalloch, in my opinion, is a change in melodies, and that change made them palatable to me. Departe has melody changes, but less of them. Consequently, I'm working on truly enjoying this. I know that "experts" in this genre agree that this is a spectacular album. I hope that repeated listens will enable me to accept that opinion.
