St. Bernard to him. 1973's Frasier the Loveable Lion stars Michael Callan as Marvin Feldman, a college professor baffled by the experience of suddenly meeting and conversing in English with the titular beast, at a California wildlife refuge. 1977's Mule Features concerns a preacher traveling the countryside with a talking mule voiced by Don Knotts. Finally, 1972's Zindy the Swamp Boy concerns a little boy who loses his grandfather via a tragic incident in a swamp - then must learn to raise himself amid the company of feral jungle beasts.

Mule Feathers
In this Western comedy, a sagebrush flim-flam man makes a career out of swindling naive settlers and pulling off the occasional train robbery. While our cowboy confidence man has learned his crooked game well, he also has a partner in crime -- a talking horse. Mule Feathers stars Ron Calhoun, Rory Calhoun, Doodles Weaver, and Don Knotts. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Zindy, the Swamp-Boy
Frasier the Sensuous Lion
Frasier the Sensuous Lion would seem to have been conceived as a racy "answer" to Disney's sugary-sweet animal comedies. The talkative title character is befriended by zoologist Marvin Feldman (Michael Callan). When Frasier's loquaciousness becomes public knowledge, Feldman tries to save the lion from being commercially exploited by a sleazy California wildlife preserve. The film's supporting cast includes such TV perennials as Frank De Kova ("Wild Eagle" on F Troop) and Malachi Throne ("Noah Bain" on It Takes a Thief). Frasier's innuendo-laden dialogue is supplied by, of all people, Victor Jory. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

In this comedy, the quiet life of an airplane pilot living in Switzerland is terribly disrupted when his sister gets married for the fourth time and bequeaths him her 250-pound St. Bernard. The bachelor and the big slobbery dog do not immediately become friends. Later they bond when the St. Bernard saves the bachelor's life during an avalanche. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
