Synopsis

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Better Luck Tomorrow director Justin Lin picks up where John Singleton left off to offer a high-octane look at the world of underground Japanese drift-racing in the latest installment of the super-charged Fast and the Furious film series. A frustrated teen from a broken home, Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) is an outsider looking to make a name for himself on the illegal street racing circuit. When Sean is busted by the police for his high-speed exploits and given the option of either spending time behind bars or moving overseas to live with his no-nonsense, military man father who's currently stationed in Tokyo, the young rebel packs his bags and sets his sights on Nippon. Though at first reluctant to adapt to the unfamiliar customs and foreign code of honor of his new home, Sean soon strikes up a friendship with American speed freak Twinkie (Bow Wow), a like-minded race fan who schools the inexperienced newcomer in the pulse-pounding world of drift-racing. Inadvertently challenging local champion and yakuza associate D.K. (The Drift King) his first time on the road, Sean is subsequently forced to work under expatriate Han (Sung Kang) to pay off his debt after failing to cross the finish line first. Taking note of the young American's affinity for racing as he warmly welcomes him into his merry band of misfit drift-fanatics, Han slowly introduces Sean to the key principles of the popular new racing style. When Sean makes the potentially deadly mistake of falling for D.K.'s girlfriend Neela (Nathalie Kelley), he'll need all the help he can get to face his most challenging race to date and take on the most notorious driver on the Tokyo drift scene in a hair-raising, hairpin-turn race where the winner truly takes all. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Fast & Furious
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker return to the film franchise that helped to launch each of their respective careers as the Fast and the Furious series winds to a close under the creative eye of Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift director Justin Lin. Fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) is back in Los Angeles to seek out the truth behind a high-profile crime, but his presence in town doesn't sit well with Agent Brian O'Conner (Walker). These two rivals are forced to unite in the cause of fighting a common enemy, however, when convoy heists and precision tunnel crawls lead them out of Los Angeles and into the Mexican desert. Now, in order to take down a formidable opponent with some serious skills behind the wheel, Dom and Brian forge an uncertain partnership while exploring thrilling new frontiers in the fine art of racing. Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and John Ortiz co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The Fast and the Furious
A magazine article about real-life car racing gangs for Vibe becomes this fast-paced automotive thriller from director Rob Cohen. Paul Walker stars as Brian O'Conner, a youthful FBI agent investigating a series of hijackings by going undercover with a street gang led by charismatic Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Caught up in Toretto's world of gang conflict that is resolved in late-night car races, Spindler starts to sympathize with his chief suspect and falls in love with Toretto's younger sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). In the meantime, Spindler initially suspects the wrong gang of complicity in the crimes he's probing, while Toretto remains involved in a forbidden romance, à la Romeo and Juliet, with his girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The Fast and the Furious co-stars Ted Levine, Rick Yune, and Matt Schulze. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

Fast Five
Director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious) returns to the helm for this adrenaline-charged sequel reuniting series stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker for their biggest thrill ride yet. With the police in hot pursuit and wanted fugitive Dom (Diesel) in tow, Brian (Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) make their way to Rio, and realize they've run out of luck. In order to earn their freedom, they'll have to pull off their biggest job yet. After assembling a crack team of the top racers in Brazil, the gang prepares to confront the crooked businessman who seeks to silence them forever. Meanwhile, unstoppable federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has assembled his own team, an intimidating group of top cops whose sole mission is to capture Dom, Brian, and Mia by whatever means possible. But as the race heats up, Hobbs loses his ability to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Now, in order to prevent the lawless trio from being turned into roadkill before he can arrest them, Luke puts his pedal to the metal, and begins to rely more on his killer instinct than his police training. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

2 Fast 2 Furious
Vin Diesel opted to not appear in the sequel to the film the shot him to stardom in the first place, The Fast and the Furious. With the character of Dominic Toretto out of the picture, 2 Fast 2 Furious concentrates exclusively on the latest exploits of undercover agent Brian O'Connor, played by Paul Walker. In addition, with director Rob Cohen passing, producers have added a dash of credibility to the sequel by hiring John Singleton to helm. What does completely remain from the first film is the presence of fast-living underground street-racing gangs. Moving from Los Angeles to Miami, O'Connor is looking to redeem himself after the events of the first movie, so he again goes undercover to infiltrate another group of thuggish car enthusiasts. This time around he's enlisted the help of ex-con Roman Pierce (Tyrese) and fellow agent Monica Celemente (Eva Mendes) to bring down Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), an importer/exporter who heads up a massive drug trafficking operation. Heading up the supporting cast are hip-hop stars Ludacris and Fabolous. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

Fast & Furious 6
Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) summons Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to London in order to take on a team of mercenary drivers who have caused havoc across a dozen countries in this pedal-to-the-metal installment of the rubber-burning action franchise. Having just earned a tidy $100 million for taking down a ruthless criminal kingpin, Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) have decided to lie low for a while. Fugitives from the law, they're constantly looking over their shoulders, no matter where they travel. Meanwhile, the malevolent leader of an elusive criminal outfit (Luke Evans) has incurred the wrath of Agent Hobbs, who has decided that the only way to shut them down is to beat them on their own turf. Realizing that Dom knows the only drivers in the world with the skills to get the job done, Agent Hobbs offers them all full pardons if they will come to London, and get back behind the wheel. The closer the renegade drivers get to the organization, however, the more apparent it becomes that Dom's former lover Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is not only still alive, but a key figure among their ranks. Now, with their freedom finally within reach, Dom and the team reassemble for their most dangerous mission to date. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

My son has been wanting me to upgrade this series to BLu-Ray but I get tired of spending money over and over (VHS then DVD now BLu-Ray). Additionally I already owned two of them on Blu-Ray and simply red boxed the last one. I upgraded movies quicker when it came to DVD's and most of them ended up at a local store that takes trades giving me a $1-$3 dollars for a $15 movie. Makes it hard to upgrade movies to Blu-Rays somedays. Fortunately the Black Friday to Christmas market allowed me to upgrade this to BLu-Ray for a great price at Best Buy. My son and I enjoyed watching the entire series from start to finish (though there is some question as to the order now-that's another store). My son says the movies look and sound better than ever Blu-Ray (The sound -volume - is a little more than my wife would like!)

This box set of Fast and the Furious films (1 - 6) is a great addition to anyone's blu-ray collection. Keep in mind there is already a 7th movie and an 8th slated to be filmed, so if you are someone who has to have the complete collection, I'd hold off purchasing anything. The cardboard case has a great deal of artistry and detail, which I appreciate, and the total set is contained within two cases, so even if you get rid of the cardboard case, it's not going to bog down your shelf with 6 movies. Great value for the number of movies you are getting, especially if you can get a lower price from a price match. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Got this at a special sale in-store for less than the cost of buying three of the movies separately. Frankly, I was only interested in movies 5 & 6, but this was like getting the whole series for the same price, digital copies included. Only drawback is that it does not include the seventh movie. There is a newer set that includes all seven movies, but it was substantially more expensive. It will be cheaper for me to buy the seventh movie separately when it goes on sale. If this set is not on sale, it may not be such a deal because not all six of the movies are equally entertaining. But when I got it, it was a really good buy.

Had picked up a couple of the earlier films in this fantastic action series but decided that this package with all of the Fast and Furious film series along with fascinating extras was the best way to go. Gives you a full movie festival days worth of films that are super action packed and enjoyable for one and all. Was never much of a car movie guy but this series changed all that. Enjoy.

I had not seen a single Furious movie prior to buying this compilation. After finishing the sixth, in my opinion, only the first, fifth, and sixth movies were enjoyable enough to consider rewatching. Story wise, the rest were beyond boredom. Some of the racing scenes were adequate, none were mind blowing. In a nutshell, the compilation is still worth a purchase just for the 3 movies alone.

I remember a lot from watching them before but somehow didn't remember much of #2. Then #6 made more sense after watching them all within a couple weeks. I still found the safe chase scenes of #5 funny although my spouse said it was too fake & walked out! Ready for #7 to come out around April. Sad about Paul Walker, but I bet they make it fit with the plot of killing off Dom's friends.

The First Fast and the Furious movie alone is a classic and reason enough to buy this collection. Episodes 4-6 are decent movies and can be looked at as bonus to a re - launched franchise. Vin Diesel and Paul walker had undeniable screen chemistry and the diverse supporting cast has always been good, Even in character actors like Ludacris and Gina Carano. OVERALL good buy.

Some people hate these movies because they say that every one is the exact same thing over and over. Just guys driving cars and doing ridiculous stunts that can never be done in real life. I think these movies are great through and through. The story progresses nicely in all the sequels and there are nice cars, big explosions and a lot of action. What else do you need?
