Decent Picture QualityPosted .
I would love to use this camcorder more often, only if there were not 3 dead pixels in the middle of the screen. Especially the blue one, its on the left side of the picture embedded into the video file. I got this camcorder last December at $179.99, so it was an okay price. I've just about had it a year now, the ring around the camera lens dents and scratches very easily. The center ring around the red record button fell off on me, but rubber cement put it back into place. The USB flip arm is scratched from "flipping" out the USB arm. (This happened with in the first month of use.) Overall, this is an okay product. It doesn't record loud or bass audio to well, as the microphone will crackle, when you start recording a video in a loud environment, the sound crackles a few times. The quality is horrible in low light, very grainy, and good under bright light. Not done yet, now there are 2 blue dead pixel lines running all across the screen vertically.I would recommend this to a friend

Bad Experience with Flip Ultra HDPosted .
To start let me say I did not buy mine from BestBuy and have never had any problem with any Bestbuy purchases. I loved my Flip Ultra for the first 7 months. It shot excellent quality videos and even obtained good audio when sitting at a concert. All of the sudden the power problems began and worst of all they were intermittent. On and off symptoms included: 1. Battery pack died and came back to life. Took a charge but then died almost immediately after charging with no button response. I had to remove the battery to get it back on. 2. I gave up on the Flip rechargeable and started using rechargeable AA Eveready batteries. It worked fine for a couple weeks until the power problems returned. I went online with Flip support and he told me to reset the camera by holding the power button in for 10 seconds. It worked fine after that until the following morning when the problems returned. 3. While shooting the video would sometimes freeze and the whole camera froze so that I had to remove the battery to reset it. Now this problem could not be solved by keeping a spare set of charged batteries in my pocket. I think I paid about $149 for the camcorder in March of 2010 and here in October 2010 it is failing daily. That's it for me - NO MORE FLIPS. It is a shame because I really liked it when it was working. My only complaint was the zoom was not very powerful. I suggest if you buy a Flip, to get a good extended warranty with a no questions asked replacement policy. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love it!Posted .
I love this little flip camera. I got it for Christmas from my husband and I have an expensive camcorder, but it's out of date now and does not have the HD. This works better then my more pricey camera and when it goes out of date I won't care as much, because I didn't dump a bunch of money into the camera. It takes crystal clear video outside, inside you should be in a well lit room though. I fit the flip into my pocket and carry around my Sony DSLR. When I want to catch a fun moment I just pull out my flip. I am having so much fun with this camcorder! It takes nice snapshots from the video as well. This is an excellent camcorder for the money, you can't go wrong.I would recommend this to a friend

Simple and inexpensivePosted .
A Flip camera is exactly what you would expect from a HD camera that costs less than $200. It is simple, easy to use, but it obvioiusly comes with limited features. While I was not expecting a feature-rich device, the one personal gripe would be the lack of a mini-HDMI cable being included with the camera. Having to buy a separate cable was rather annoying as pretty much any device (DirecTV receiver, Blu-Ray player, Xbox) that outputs HD Video comes with a cable. While not necessary for watching the videos, using an HDMI cable plugged in to a HDTV does provide the best video quality. I would highly recommend this camera to someone who does not need a lot of features, for whom average-quality, 720p resolution is more than adequate, and those who want a simple to use camera. This is not the device for hard-core video aficionados who want full 1080p. Pros: - Out of the box and ready to use in minutes. - Simple interface and controls - Small, lightweight - Easier to copy video clips to a computer via flipout USB connector and distribute to friends and family over email, Facebook, etc. than a camera using tapes - Plenty of storage capacity Cons: - Permanent video storage requires a computer (and Blu-Ray burner if playback is desired on an HDTV without a computer ) - Bundled software for copying is bulky, somewhat slow - No mini-HDMI cable supplied - Video playback quality suffers significantly on a computer without a sufficiently fast processor, memory, and DVI or HDMI video capabilityI would recommend this to a friend

A really good start!Posted .
This is an excellent device. It is extremely handy and extremely easy to use. It is missing two important features, in my opinion. First would be removable storage. I am sure they can do that but perhaps their reason for not doing that would be so that they can sell various versions at various price points. Second would be image stabilization. Even 20 year old camcorders had a feature like this. Modern camcorders accomplish this through over-sampling the digital images which probably requires more processing horsepower than this simple device is spec'd to handle. But it wasn:t until I started using this little camera that I realized how important stabilization really is. I was tempted to build a steadycam rig for it just to overcome this limitation... still am. But for the price, the quality is awesome. Works perfectly with Linux too.I would recommend this to a friend

Good Video Cam for the PricePosted .
I picked this up and I have to say as it was ready to go right out of the box. No complicated steps to get going. Just charge and shoot. Video looks great but once you start to zoom in you loose detail. HD feature is nice and the Mini HD output makes seeing vids on a HD TV that much easier. Overall I am very happy with the camera as its a perfect size to carry around without a bulky bag. If you are looking for a cam with all kinds of features and effects this is not the Cam for you. You want a Cam that you can pull out and get a nice quick vid this one is for you. I like that the software is built in and very easy to use. Software also supports online social sites which makes uploading vids too easy.I would recommend this to a friend

My go to cameraPosted .
I received this for my birthday and what a great gift! I didn't really need another videocamera since I have two other ones. But I must say that I have used this more than my other videocameras in the past 5 months. It is easier to take on the go and even easier to upload the videos online to share with family. I primarily use this camera for travel baseball games. I am able to fit two games on there by stopping in between innings . . . but barely. The re-chargeable battery is pretty good, half way through the second game the "battery light" comes on, so keep a couple AA batteries handy just in case. The Flip AC charger is a little overpriced but Best Buy sells a similar adapter for about $20 which takes less time to charge than through a computer. Uploading the videos to FlipShare is much easier than using my other videocameras (MiniDV). FlipShare process: Save the videos to the computer, select which ones you want, decide who gets notified and the program will take over and upload the videos and will send an email to that person when it is done. The only tedious part of this process is adding a title to every video clip (but only if you really need to) for baseball they all look alike and need to be labeled. The only downside is the lack of zoom & the lens is sometimes not wide enough, which can be "fixed" by moving back a little or buying a magentic wide angle lens. I wish Flip would add battery life status, remove the "zoom" status on the right (sometimes it is in the way) after you stop zooming in or out. For what I use this camera for, a tripod is highly recommended, even a monopod would be fine since the camera does not have stabilization. Overall I love this camera, the video quality online is great and the ease of use is wonderful.I would recommend this to a friend
