"For your eyes only James Darling"
||Posted .Thankfully this was not the case with this film. I won't say that I am the biggest James Bond fan ever there are far too many to know for sure. I would like to think I have a above average appreciation for this most engaging character and his sidekicks. I am thinking that Mr Craig the current Bond has had the biggest impact on how I feel about the character but each Bond has a special place in my heArt Connery the first and the template for all to follow used his artistic canvas to paint a debonair and commited son of England who will do the right thing and do it right while looking and feeling cool. The first most interesting man in the world. Roger more the most films to his Bond runs made Bond funny and easy and determined with not a hair out of place. Lazenby was a stand in with style you knew Bond getting married was a bad idea and it turned out we were right. pierce B was a happy combo-meal Bond young pretty half Moore half Connery all 80s and completely acceptable by all. Dalton in contrast was the anti war spy by default angry at the world for getting so bloody out of hand-Bond. If I fix it you better not mess it up again Bond. Too angry to be cool and moody moody moody. Then came D.C. Cool suave Blond? Ok we will overlook that cause darn if he isn't the "Bondiest" of Bonds. There is no doubt in my mind that his role in "LAYER CAKE" lead to him being 007. He is James in so many ways it's the role he was meant o play and though I have no doubt he will play many others with equal gravitas (too old for Adam warlock?)he will embody Bond for me for a long time. That having been said this movie rocks watch it love it

for your eyes only
||Posted .While not being particularly fond of many of Sir Roger Moore's adventures as James Bond, I must admit that For Your Eyes Only is amongst his best films as the legendary spy. Moore's take on the character tends to rub me the wrong way, with his silly attempts at action and his focus on style over substance, but he does butch things up a bit with this outing. The film is easily the most realistic of Moore's contributions; the producers made a point of trying to bring the Bond character closer to that of the books. MGM brings For Your Eyes Only to Blu-ray with a understated but attractive video encode, and audio that does its best to sound up to date. Supplements are extensive, as is normally the case with the Bond releases; fans will be more than pleased. Ultimately, while this film doesn't hold up to the scrutiny of time as well as Sean Connery's contributions to the Bond Legacy, For Your Eyes Only is, perhaps, Roger Moore's best. Set your expectations to a reasonable level, and the film might just surprise you. Recommended.

"I'll buy you a delicatessen! In stainless steel!"
||Posted .After the out of this world masterpiece that was Moonraker Cubby Broccoli rightfully chose to open the new decade bringing Bond back down to Earth with this faithful return to Fleming's source material. Using elements from two short stories from For Your Eyes Only as well as elements from other novels a gripping plot concerning a stolen guidance system and a possible turncoat lead Bond to Greece with the aid of the beautiful daughter of a murdered scientist and charming smuggler. The transfer while shows the films' rather drab and earth-toned cinematography limitations is still perfect and of course the extras are extensive as usual especially the great commentary by Moore who provided commentary for all the films he made under his tenure. Highly recommended for fans of the film or for those seeking a more down-to-Earth earlier Bond film.

A Great Bond Adventure
||Posted .This starts strong and maintains it's momentum throughout, delivering just the right mix of action, tension, romance, and humor. The skiing chase scenes are spellbinding and Moore proved to be particularly formidable against an array of dangerous villains including the chilling Locque and a young Charles Dance. I enjoyed the deftly-handled scene on the boat in which Bond finally meets Columbo since it defied my initial impression of him and led to an unlikely alliance. Bond's dark haired damsel was stunning until she spoke. Add the scintillating underwater scenes and this is one of the most underrated entries in the Bond collection.

Perhaps 4 1/2*
||Posted .By now, it will be quite rare to find someone who hasn't seen Bond films. I found this old Roger Moore film to be one of the best. No multibillionaires looking for world domination using some exotic/esoteric weaponry. This film takes a more realistic approach of a solid 2-feet-on-the ground spy action/thriller. Great scenery/cinematography, great believable action and plot, good acting and the price was low, very low for a blu-ray
