Great GPS Unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great basic GPS unit. Got me around CT on my first trip there without having to worry about getting from place to place. Love it.

Works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product was easy to set up and use. The lifetime map updates will be helpful in the future. I also love the fact that it shows you which lane to be in to make exits and other maneuvers. My previous GPS unit didn't have that capability and it caused me a lot of trouble driving around the big city. Garmin also has many options for personalizing your unit including different "vehicles" and sounds.

Easy to use and accurate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPS unit is easy to use, and seems to be accurate so far. Updates are a breeze, and quick. The only thing that frustrates me is that it is very difficult to remove from the suction cup base. This requires you to remove the entire base from the windshield in order to stow it away, or do updates. This is the only thing that prevents me from giving it a 5 star rating.

Pretty Good Value GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my Dad for Father's Day. Hasn't been in use for that long, but so far he seems to like it. My Dad is not tech savvy and after showing him the basics once, I think he's got the hang of how to use it for the most part. I've used it myself a couple times and it's a good solid GPS. The only drawback so far that I've noticed is that it takes a bit long for the device to acquire signals when you first turn it on. Not the biggest of issues but still. I paid $79.99 for it and for that value it definitely is worth it, especially given it was brand new and not refurbished or anything. Again, it hasn't been used a lot since it was opened so as far as wear and tear and durability I can't say anything just yet. If there are any updates, I'll definitely post them. -Thanks.

Excellent Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't let the relatively low price fool you. This GPS is loaded with great features including lane assist and an excellent screen and gives your speed more accurately than your vehicle speedometer. Plus you get lifetime map upgrades. What you do not get is Bluetooth and Traffic but I have never found these higher end features to be useful. Also do not get voice commands that you speak to control the unit. All in all an excellent value with all the features you need.

A good & simple one.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to use GPS before the smart phones became smart. Then once I could get routes through my iPhone, I never looked at the GPS again. So after 6 -7 years, now I started feeling to have a dedicated GPS so I don't need to highly rely on my phone network to get to places (especially when my wife is driving the car as she has a limited data to her iPhone). Then when I did my research, I found this GPS being reviewed better than most others in the price range I was looking. So got that from BB, got shipped on time and all that. Setting up was easy and was impressed with life time (4 times a year) map update option as the older GPS used to suck at that. Like the look & feel, UI is clean & love the part when it shows the simulation the exists with road signs and all that. That's pretty cool. Only one concern is, even though I have kept my routing option to be the quickest & have not turned on the skip highway option either, the GPS tends to skip the highways right next to my house and prefers to take me through back roads a bit more than my iPhone routes. Which am still researching to find answer for. Those highways are not new either. Other than that, me & my wife loves this GPS and it saves our phone batteries so we could get a longer battery life for our phones too.

Good GPS but could be better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Garmin, my first Garmin was a gift, I loved it! I took it everywhere. Then my maps ran out so I renewed them. It was expensive (over $50). Recently my Maps again expired and when I went online to see if perhaps the price had gone down, (since new ones came with lifetime maps) sadly the cost was the same. So I bought a new Garmin with Lifetime Maps (cheaper than continuously paying for map updates--a lifetime Map update for my old Garmin was only $5 less than the price of a new Garmin. My old Garmin still works great (the maps are expired). I like my new Gatmin, but it wasn't able to give me directions to get out of my friend's neighborhood. It kept saying proceed to the highlighted route. The screen did not show a highlighted route. I had to call a friend for directions. I did like that my new Garmin actually read out the street names, my old one would say, turn right in 100 ft. The new one says turn right on Main St. I also like how it provides me with a picture of exit ramp lanes when I'm driving on the highway.
I would recommend this to a friend

Q: Questionwhat model fits for philippine ?
Asked by rome.
- A:Answer The nuvi 42LM will work with mapping of the Philippines, however does not come preloaded with them. To have mapping coverage of the Philippines, an additional purchase of the City Navigator Southeast Asia NT mapping would need to be made and then loaded to the nuvi.

Q: QuestionDo you have a picture of the Longitude & Latitude coordinates on the Garmin-novi 42 LM Essential Series I can Look at?Before I buy the Garmin-nuvi 42 LM Essential Seeries 4.3" GPS with lifetime map updates I want to know how to get the coordinates while traveling. What button to push.
Asked by Annie.
- A:Answer This unit does not give Coordinates on the map while traveling. However, it does allow you to use coordinates to get to a destination. Save coordinates to find a destination another time. (Might be handy for finding a car in Disney parking lot?) From the main screen where Garmin asks "Where to?" or "Map" If you pick "Where to" then use down arrow, then tap on Coordinates. It then shows the Long & Lat of your current location. You have the option to tap the boxes and enter Long & Lat to find a location. Touch 'Next' and it will show a birds-eye-view of your location on the map. You then can choose 'Save' or 'Go!"
