Garmin - nüvi 5" GPS with Lifetime Map Updates and Lifetime Traffic Updates

This is the first GPS I have owned. I have borrowed friends units before for long trips but decided I needed my own. Pros - Large screen is great. Touch screen is very responsive. Voice commands work surprisingly well. Free map updates. Traffic updates (haven't tried yet) Very speedy calculations and recalculations. The friction mount that comes with this unit works very well. I was a bit nervous at first but it doesn't budge even around quick corners. Cons - The map update required me to have a MicroSD. Its unfortunate because the unit has more than enough room and didn't actually take up any space on my card I bought. I can only assume it is because it ensures the new maps are transferred before deleting the old maps. This is the only reason I gave the unit 4 stars instead of 5. If you have a MicroSD card lying around you can use it for the update and then remove it and be golden. Other - I paid $50 for Best Buy to install the unit so that it didn't take up my outlet in my car. It also looks much nicer not having cords hanging everywhere. They did great work and I highly recommend having this done if your new GPS is going to be a permanent fixture in your vehicle, whatever unit you buy.

I bought this this unit to upgrade from 1300 and I love it because its hands-free 90% of time. but the touch screen is very responsive. my old one, 1300, you have to use a pen or tap hard with finger nail, very frustrating. the 2595lmt is reasonable fast loading and calculating. the map layers tells you if a turn is double or single lane and if exit is on right of left. it also maps confusing mix-masters so you can be in correct lane before you get there. audio directions are clear but could be earlier announced. The voice command works well though background noise confuses it and you have to speak loud, mine is on windshield about 24' away. I like the "find place" command. while driving, i can say "find Chick fil a" and it will find nearest restaurant and ask "new route" or "add to". (you have to use prescribed commands) Haven't experienced the traffic detour feature yet. The suction mount works great on glass, absolutely no movement even on rough surfaces. i bot a mfr refurbished and i can't find any difference compared to "brand new" plus bot a 2 yr ext warranty and case + shipping for less than the cost of a"brand new". i recommend this unit to those who prefer hands-free guidance.

This is my 2nd Garmin GPS and this unit is a much improved version over my old one. The larger screen with the split screen capability is very nice and the dashboard mount is very functional. This GPS is very user friendly. As soon as I got it I downloaded the updated maps and traffic as well as purchased the additional voices that are available through Garmin with the 10% discount they give you after registration. I was going to purchase the red light camera feature also, but it is not available for this unit, however, Garmin sent me to the POI Factory which gives you a free download option for that and many other features. It works great. I highly recommend this particular GPS.

This is my 5th Garmin automotive device. I've liked them all, but this is the most feature packed navigator I've owned so far (has smartphone link to receive updates from the phone, some free, some not# as well as a LOT of additional features #I'm comparing to the 1450/1490LMT models#. The price #with this "bundle"# is $70.00 LESS than buying the device on it's own, and IT IS the same device. The price is also less than a "remanufactured" unit and this one is brand new. There was a review earlier that said the "base maps" do not come pre- loaded on the unit, THIS IS NOT TRUE, the base maps ARE on the device. What confuses the issue is the Best Buy specifications indicate the base maps are not on the unit, BUT THEY ARE. #The Best Buy specs also says the unit does not "auto re-route", but does.# Everything about the unit is the same as the specifications for the "un-bundled" one. Best Buy does need some "specification fact checkers" to eliminate the confusion. If you're looking for a great price on a unit with 5" screen, Lifetime Maps and Traffic, Smartphone Link, plus a lot more, this is the one!!

The Garmin 2595lmt is a fantastic GPS for the price. I love the voice command feature. it is so nice to be able to find a place while I am driving without having to touch the screen. I have not had any problems with it as long as I enunciate my words and turn the music down. The screen is big and easy to see. The car charger is long enough for me to place the unit on the left side of my steering wheel. This unit also has Bluetooth capability to allow you to link up your phone and answer calls, but I have not used it. The mount is a generic beanbag mount with a smooth surface to attach the window mount to. It is pretty large, but it fits great on my dash. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Waited for this new unit to arrive and happy to have no issues with downloading the maps. I have not tested the bluetooth function, yet. I look forward to utilizing this on my 12 hour trip to Canada. Lets see which way the GPS will direct me to the border. I have driving the long way and the short cut, so this will test the machine and signal. The price is the main seller after narrowing it down to this unit. It was half price with a holder, included.

I've used more than 10 Garmin so far, and I thought I wouldn't see anything new. I was wrong. This is feature rich and easy to use. I love voice commands. Bluetooth is better than previous model, crispy clear on this one. It has the better version of traffic receiver like my previous one, ad free and better network. There is lifetime map update too. Voice can be changed... The only thing bothering me is they took away "recalculating", so you don't know when you missed something, it simply change your path without notifying you. In real life, if you miss something, you may have easy way to correct it. Perhaps there is a way to make the sound reappear, but I didn't find it yet.

I just got this about a month ago , it works great , maps load fast and the traffic is ok , the only issue I have is the maps take a long time to update with your computer, but other than that the product works great.
