We went through 3 replacements of her Fitbit and finally decided to give it up when the third finally quit working. She loves the color display and with the app it gives her more features to track her activity.

Adaptive Brightness Only. No static brightness set
Posted .Functional watch, but the brightness settings kill it for me. Brightness settings are Low, Med, High. However each one is adaptive brightness. Adaptive brightness should be an option, not mandatory. I struggle to read the screen in low light situations since it brings the brightness of the screen down so much (even on the High setting). If this makes it back to Garmin, this needs to be addressed in a software update. There are forum entries about this for over a year now and still nothing has been done to address it. I don't use adaptive brightness on my phone for the same reason, don't force it onto my watch. Currently unhappy about my purchase.

I love my Venu, but found a major flaw with the SQ; i.e., it is not nearly as scratch resistant. My wife has has this for about 2 weeks and it's already got some permanent scratches on its face.

- A:Answer No you don't need a smart phone to get the data. However, he could connect it to a compatible computer and using Garmin Express upload the data to Garmin Connect where he will see more information. The readings will show on the watch but Garmin Connect can provide more data. You may want to go to support.garmin.com where you'll find many helpful FAQ's and video's on the functions of the device.
