This is a must buy if you have or planning on purchasing a GPS.

I purchased this gps mount not just to hold my GPS but to also hold my iphone. I got tired of the suction cup holder falling off. This mount is so stable and can conform to the shape of the dashboard. Better yet you can remove it from view by just picking it up and putting it away with ease. The only change I made was changing the end device holder with the vice grip type so I can either hold my phone or the gps.

I paired this with my Garmin RV770. For a Class A RV it is a great thing to have as it gets the GPS on the dash and near the driver. It makes the GPS much easy to see and (when safely stopped) to use. Most of the other places to mount a GPS would require a tablet sized screen to see well. The swivel is nice and I can always carry it to my other vehicle. It is still as good as new two years later, unlike my suction cup mounted devices that need to be replaced periodically. And this won't fall off the windshield at the worst time possible.

Over time in Arizona the ball for connection shrinks due to temperature so GPS moves around when the roads are rough. I am hoping that when the million degrees temps return, hopefully not next month, it will expand and return to a stiffer hold so the GPS unit doesn't move so easily. P.S. if you are a speedster and depending on the dash it may slide quite easily I use the the dash camera for possible accidents, saved me thousands on 2 separate occasions when the driver was less than honest with insurance company, SHOCKING I know your shocked someone would not be honest well ... ummm say their perspective was unhem different.

This works excellent with our large Garmin GPS unit. I have been searching for an AC-vent mount to work with the GPS unit, but none were large enough to handle the unit. I tried several just to return them all. This wasn't exactly what I wanted as I wanted the GPS unit a little lower - not blocking the windshield. I tried this as I needed something to hold the GPS unit in place. What is great is this works in all of our vehicles and the GPS unit doesn't move when you make right and left turns. I am ver pleased with this and it doesn't block the windshield like I thought.

This mount does exactly what they claim. Yes, I would recommend this device to anyone who purchases a heavier GPS. It's either buy this thing, or a new GPS. On the plus side, it is a decent mount that has enough weight in the base to hold the nuviCam GPS. You must remove the bracket from the suction cup and install it on the dashboard mount, which is simple enough. The directions tell you how to change it out. The footprint is a bit wider than my nuviCAM GPS. It has yet to tip over on me, despite the terrible roads around the NYC tri-state area. On the down side, the base is oddly shaped for reasons that I do not yet understand. As a result, placing it on your dashboard means that the GPS will always be at somewhat of an odd angle relative to the base. This quirk seems to be intentional, so I assume that it adds something to stability. It just looks a bit sloppy, that's all. My only other critique is that my vehicle has a slight depression in the dash for holding stuff in one place, which is where I put this mount. The "bean bag" base shapes itself to fit the space fairly well, but the GPS may shake at times. I I have hit a number of road bumps that cause the GPS to record an "event", or accident. The suction cup mount was less prone to false events than this mount. Because it can bounce around, your camera alignment can become misaligned rather easily, which causes numerous false lane drift warnings. Other than that, this device solves the problem of the rubber disk on the bottom of the suction cup being too small, which is what causes it too lose its' grip in the first place. If you do not have the rubber disk perfectly aligned with the plastic base, then a slow air leak forms where the edges slightly overlap, and eventually it loses all vacuum.

I purchased the Garmin - Vehicle Mount for GPS because I was having problems with the original mount adhering to the window. It was especially problematic during the winter; my GPS unit would frequently fall off the windshield. This new unit just sits on the dashboard; no attachment needed. Remarkably, it does not slide around, even when I make sharp turns I am well pleased with the performance of this item both in summer and winter.
