ok i totally love this computer it's so nice to look at the webcam is amazing. windows 7 is a bit different then vista. i kinda don't like the new windows media player though, FOR all the people who are complaining about the volume i have a good tip to maximize volume and clarity. go to control panel-Hardware and sound- REAL TEK AUDIO MANAGER, click it. GO TO THE "SOUND EFFECTS" TAB and go to "ENVIROMENT" AND THERES A DROP LIST CHOOSE "CITY". THEN GO TO THE EQUALIZER AND CHOOSE "TREBLE" FROM THE DROP LIST, AND BAM ! IT WILL INCREASE UR LAPTOP'S VOLUME TO ABOUT 40% LOUDER. I TRIED THEM ALL AND THIS IS THE BEST CONFIGURATION. so overall i love it now. :) i mean if ur questioning urself on buying it , just do it. :)

Gateway once again blew me away. At first I was really skeptic about getting it, after reading a bunch of reviews concerning the mediocre sound quality of this laptop's speaker. I'm so glad I bought this laptop that is sleek,has impressive graphics, sound and amazingly fast processor. Unless you're a heavy gaming user, otherwise this computer can really last you awhile. Intel 3000 is impressive but is still find it hard to combat Nvidia Geforce. Battery life is 4 hours unplugged. Touchpad is pretty and doesn't leave any fingerprints. I'm in graduate school, this lightweight 15.6" laptop is perfect for business trips and school. This is my second Gateway, once you go gateway you never go back. My previous one and this once stay pretty cool after hours of use, decent speaker and performance.

Gateway makes the best lap for the buck! They take a severe beating and keep on working. This is my third Gateway, my daughter has the Gateway I purchased last year, and mom has the one I purchased in 2010: they are all working great! The one I bought in 2010 was knocked off my desk at least 12 times by dogs, and children, and it still works like new.

I also received this blue Gateway NV57H457U i-5 6GB, 640GB laptop in replacement of the Toshiba i-5, 4Gb, 500GB I had ordered just before Christmas. At first, I was definitely a bit hesitant about getting this one as I could not find even 1 review about this very new computer. When I called to ask Best Buy online whether or not this was a good exchange/replacement, I was reassurred by the BB customer service rep that this is a solid computer and in her opinion, it's even better than the original Toshiba I was supposed to get. Well, I've had this for a few weeks now, and so far it is working great! It is quite fast-starts up easily and effortlessly, can move from different applications quickly, surfs the net quickly, keyboard is nice & responsive, the hot keys are convenient, screen resolution is great, the USB 3.0 is fast, HDMI hookup to TV is cool, & the camera & microphone are great for skype. The sound is good, but not spectacular, but that's not a deal breaker for me. This laptop is used mainly for email, social networking, online shopping, photo storage/editing , some youtube/game playing by the kids, greeting card creating & word processing. So far for our needs, it has been great & fast. Beacuse we take a lot of photos, I also purchased a 1TB external hard drive to hold all those photos/files and to keep the computer's processor working fast. I can't comment on battery life as it stays plugged in at my desk in the kitchen. All in all, this a good, fast i-5 intel processor with tons of memory (6GB RAM & 640 HD) & the price can't be beat!

Bought the Gateway NV57H50u thinking just a basic computer it will get the work done, I was very surprised when i started using it. This laptop is better than some of the $1000 dollar computers I've had in the past. Runs fast with multiple windows open, downloads fast, the screen is bright and amazing quality, i don't really use the social networking button but I have tried it and it works and is convenient. I recommend this to anyone who uses computers the way i do (web browsing, music, social networking). The one thing I think could be a little better is the sound quality, its decent and gets the job done but its not amazing.

This is a very good laptop, especially if you are programmers considering limited budget. Intel core i5 2nd generation and 6g ram with just $450 (bestbuy sale). That's all I need. It's the cheapest price for such a brand new laptop like that I have found so far. I mainly use it for programming, and I don't play game so I satisfy with the Intel integrated graphic card. I agree with other reviews that the sound quality is not good, but i'm ok with it. It's loud enough for me to watch youtube or listen to music. You can use an additional speaker though. Besides, the touch pad is kinda touchy, but I mainly use mouse, so it's not a problem. About its lack of back lit keyboard, if you have a good typing skill, you don't mind if you can see the button or not, you can type without looking at the keyboard. By the way, it depends on what kind of users you are to determine if the laptop is right for you or not. To me, it's the greatest laptop I have so far. Hope this reviews help you guys.

I had been looking for a couple of months for a new laptop, the compaq I had been using was constantly overheating after only 2.5 years of ownership. Saw this on sale online for 499 with free shipping. I had never bought Gateway before, but after researching the maker and the components, I figured I would give it a shot . Besides the price I liked it came loaded with 6 gb ram and the i5 proceesor. Plenty quick for my needs and it doesn't get hot . I get around 4 hours with with battery which is fine. The speakers could be louder, but not bad enough to change my opinion. I really liked ordering online, because sadly, to get an actual person on the phone at our Best Buy store, is virtually impossible. This is easily my nicest computer yet.

I like most read all about a product before I buy it. I have been researching getting a laptop for about 6 months now. I found this laptop on bestbuy.com. It came with everything that I needed and a second generation i5 processor. I recevied this Feb 13th via store pick-up and have been blown away ever since!!! This laptop does above and beyond everything that I need it too. From writing papers to just browsing the web it will not dissapoint. Excellent value for the price. I highly recommend this laptop!!!!
