Is really good to keep products fresh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is a good refrigerator, but it does not have a lot of space, it looks big when empty but is not, and the trays are not too strong, but other than that is really good, in performance.

Great general fridge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I needed a fridge when our last one decided to just die right after grocery shopping. This fridge was super affordable but still very classy with the adjustable glass shelves. Many reviews say it's noisy all the time but what fridge doesn't hum?! It does have a little bit of noise when first turning on, but unless you are in the kitchen, we have never noticed it and we are in a tiny 800sq. ft. house! Overall, great fridge, keeps things super cool and there is a lot of storage in it!

Excellent value for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received my refrigerator today morning and installed it in kitchen. I always do a great deal of research before buying anything. So even though I liked this refrigerator, I was concerned about following complaints from other reviewers: 1) Noise 2) Insufficient cooling in freezer. But went ahead anyway because the refrigerator was on sale for $450 and I was getting another $20 credit from Amex. So I got the refrigerator for $430, which is great deal for this refrigerator. Looks like GE has fixed the noise problems because my refrigerator is super quiet. I have to open the fridge to see if its running. The cooling is great too. The freezer started feel cold 15 seconds after plugging it in. I filled water the ice tray and there was ice after 30 mins. Another complaint from other reviewers was the crisper compartments are difficult to slide out. Indeed the left crisper is kind of not silky smooth but I guess it will improve over time, its not a big deal anyways as existing operation is adequate. Delivery from best buy was excellent. Even though the weather was horrible, the guys were bang on time and installed it in 10 mins. FYI, I also got the 4 year protection plan. Very happy with my purchase.

Overall a good appliance for a reasonable price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This replaced another GE fridge, the same exact one. The shelves are an upgrade. Good amount of space for your food on the doors/shelves. Some people think it's loud and it does make a little louder of a humming noise when the fan kicks on, but nothing that would keep me awake at night or bothers you when the tv is on, but I noticed it when I was in the kitchen because other ppl had mentioned it. There is only one thermostat dial which is a bummer because to get the freezer cold enough you have to turn it up pretty high, we like very cold ice cream. But then you get almost frozen items in your fridge when they are in the back of your fridge. So there really isn't a happy medium. It's for an apartment and for the price and space I'm happy. It's for 2 people who eat a lot of fruits, veggies, have leftovers, juice, yogurts, etc. It would be difficult for a family of 4 I think. Final statement: good GE product for the price (we don't use the ice maker)

A tank - reliability comes first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second GE limited feature refrigerator. The value is excellent. We use it as a storage refrigerator in our garage, and for that it does quite well. It has only basic features and the surface parts are mainly cheap plastic. However under the hood it is a tank, designed to last for many years (our first one just died after almost 25 years). While this may not be suitable for everyone as a primary refrigerator, as a backup/utility appliance it is great.

Just what I wanted
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a large side by side that needed to be repaired. The repair would cost about $300. Since the fridge was 17 years old, I decided to replace it instead. This is a slightly smaller top freezer model that meets my needs much better than the old one did. I actually have crisper drawers and a snack drawer. The door shelf is large enough to hold a gallon-sized container. I was able to pack the freezer with more food than I ever was able to get into the old freezer. All in all, a much better product than my old side by side.

Economical and energy efficient
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this unit to replace an older 22 cu. in. model in our garage. Got what was needed to handle overflow from larger model in the kitchen. Purchased this unit for best price for the size and features. At first thought loud gurgling sounds and a heating element in the freezing compartment were causes for alarm but learned from owners manual they are normal.

Q: QuestionWould this be a good refrigerator to place in the garage in Cincinnat, Ohio or would there be freezer problems?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE Frost-Free Top-Freezer Refrigerator model GTH18GBDBB. I will be happy to assist you with your question on where a refrigerator can be installed. It is not recommended that refrigerators be used in unheated locations, such as garages, porches, or unheated rooms during periods when the temperature is likely to fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases. At 32 degrees, there is no cooling capability at all. It should also not be installed where the temperature will exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. ~ Below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil could become thick and not circulate properly. ~ Above 110 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil could overheat and break down. I hope this is helpful! Donna with GE .
