    Huge but worth the space.

I never bothered to measure the dimensions of this freezer so when it arrived, it did not fit through the door let alone into the basement. No problem, it’s in the garage. The bins are fantastic for organization and my OCD wife approves. It is completely silent and it chilled to temp at start up in no time at all. The energy saving alone was worth the price. I highly recommend this product to those who like to store large quantities of food and game.

    Design flaw

This appears to be a redesign or different material is now being used which creates a leak in the top seal when this freezer is loaded. When I installed the freezer, I did not pay attention to the seal. The next day, after loading it from my old freezer I noticed a 1/16 gap in the seal at the center. I called GE, they sent out a tech and he said it needed a new lid. They had to order the lid and ship it to me then after receiving it I had to schedule another tech to replace it. When he replaced it, the same gap was there so they ordered a replacement freezer. When they delivered the freezer they set it up and removed the old one (I had to box up the frozen goods). Empty, the seal was fine and the lid sealed as it should. After placing all my frozen goods back in the basket the entire freezer bowed again and the same gap was there. I called and they scheduled another tech. After he inspected it, he came to the same determination, it is a design flaw and said there is nothing he could do to fix it and he would report it to GE, they will call me with a resolution and if they didn't call at the end of the week to call GE. They did not call so I called them. THey told me this is how it is designed and there is nothing wrong with the function. I told them there is for sure because the lid will not seal and it is leaking cold air. Now they are going to send another tech out in a week who is going to see the same gap as shown in the pictures below. This will be the 5th time I have had to take time out to wait for a technician to report what can be seen in the pictures posted. Also weeks have gone by waiting for the repairs so I can't return it. In the pictures below, you can see the corner is sealed like the entire top should be, the gap is in the center. This is the second freezer with the original exactly the same.

    Nice freezer for the garage

I bought this 21.7 Cu Ft chest freezer after having a 40+ year old 15.1 Cu Ft freezer that was dying and packed full. I originally purchased the 15 Cu Ft version of this chest freezer and decided to change the order to the 21 Cu ft freezer 10 days before delivery. I felt guilty ordering such a large freezer for myself but felt I needed the extra space for basket movement. The freezers are shorter in height and much longer in length than the same cubic foot size older ones. This one would not fit in my basement where the old freezer was, so it is in the garage. If I would have purchased the 15 Cu ft chest, it would still be too big, 22 inches longer than the old 15 Cu ft one, 43" vs. 65". The baskets are wonderful and help to organize the freezer. Such a joy to find what you are looking for without rummaging through the freezer and have food topple as I look. It is so easy now to see what is in the freezer to plan a meal. The extra room is needed in order to allow the two layers of baskets to move left and right versus lifting them out. The LED light is wonderful and allows me to see everything in the freezer. The dividers in the very bottom are also very nice to create compartments of various types of food. I have had this 3 weeks and hoping I will love it for years to come. Looking forward to grocery shopping and have all the frozen items packed in the same bags to make for easy put away - from the trunk to the freezer, without going into the kitchen. Energy Star rating was a big plus in considering my purchase.
