Great product.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality materials, great feel of operation, intuitive controls, and a top-notch finish. Doors are nicely weighted and constructed. Take your time installing the handles, the delivery team slightly scratched mine while trying to hurry.

A week attempt at competing with LG and Samsung
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the GE after a painful experience w/LG customer service. I heard from many that Samsung was no better; both of their products are superior to GE, you just don't want to have to look for warranty support from them; it's almost not there. So, I went with the GE based on Consumer Reports indicating competitive quality. I learned that wasn't the case. Although the fridge keeps necessary temperatures, everything is poorly engineered/designed: noisy, less efficient use of space, cheap and week materials, poor ice maker making those annoying crescent shaped cubes, doors that are designed to favor staying open instead of closing, inferior display/dispenser panel and dispensing unreliable, and unnecessarily BULKY. Too bad LG has such lousy customer support and repair service. The LG was twice what the GE fridge is in design and performance.

Very happy refrigerator customer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had our refrigerator for over a week and love it. I read SO many reviews on different sites ( primarily comparing LG Samsung GE) so I had all of the pros and conns of each memorized. We are limited in space and wanted a french door model with ice/water on the door. We think it runs very quietly. Of course when the ice fills and drops you hear the sound, but that is only a few seconds --and it’s quieter than our last fridge. We have not run out of ice --we are a family of 4 and although we aren’t filling glasses all day we’ve always had ice when needed. The crushed ice does spew a bit but so did our other fridge--using a wide cup and holding it close to the top helps. The water dispenser is great (not slow to us as a few commented) and the space of the dispenser to fit your glass is quite tall. (Our neighbors have a Whirlpool and they can’t fit tall glasses in theirs.) The dispenser lights/words are easy to read and the dispenser casing seems securely attached (some commented that it fell off easily -not sure how this could happen so maybe GE changed/fixed something). The inside is so bright and it’s easy to see everything in the drawers and shelves. The only negative regarding the shelves is I had to remove one shelf so we could fit more tall drink containers --but there is still more than enough room for everything. We had a side by side before so we don’t have as much door storage but the wide shelves make up for this. The freezer is great --the bottom part has a divider so food doesn’t become too disorganized and I use the top sliding shelf for ice cream treats and things the kids can easily see/grab. We love the slate color --definitely fingerprint-proof. The handles are stainless but it’s so easy to wipe them quickly.

Very happy with this fridge
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the design and look of this fridge. While it is about 2.5 cubic feet smaller capacity than the one it replaced, it has a very good layout of main shelves and on the inside of both upper doors that makes it feel as larger or larger than the old one. The freezer is plenty large as well. This is also one of the very few french door style fridges that is less than ~36" wide. This one fits great in the space I have. In short, one month in this is a great purchase. You won't be disappointed.

Great fridge for replacement in "older" home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We live in a 20+ year old home and aren't ready for a full remodel with cabinets. This fridge gives the benefits of french doors without taking out cabinets. It is alot deeper--so at first it was visually just really big in a small kitchen. Now I am used to the depth and the fridge sticking farther into the floor space. Love the finish.

Expensive but worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to get this refrigerator because of width constraints replacing old refrigerator. This one is deeper and has much more refrigerator space but you lose freezer space. Not as loud as everyone says it is. Does not really save on electricity compared to an old refrigerator.

Great fridge
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a difficult time finding a 33inch wide fridge for new house. So happy with the result tho. I love this fridge. It’s quiet, easy to use and the ice and water in door is tall enough for a large veti cup. Love it

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between Defrost Type - Frost Guard on this model vs. Frost Free on other models?
Asked by Lynda.
- A:Answer Hello Lynda. This is RICHARDatGEA. The GFE24JSKSS is a frost-free refrigerator and it features the Frost Guard technology. The Frost Guard technology defrost means that the refrigerator will only defrost as needed. It accounts for door openings and usage to determine when it is necessary to defrost and how long the defrost cycle needs to run. If the refrigerator is not being frequently used (ex. family on vacation), it will not defrost as often. It also utilizes a "Pre-Chill" function to lower the freezer temperature prior to the defrost cycle. This lowering of freezer temperature allows the freezer to return to its set temperature point more quickly once the defrost cycle is complete. All this amounts to less thawing of foods and refreezing during the defrost cycle. The result is that it reduces freezer burn. Thanks for your question.

Q: QuestionDo the drawers in the fridge part as well as the freezer have rollers for easy rolling? I have been looking at many GE refrigerators and find that some have rollers and others do not. Could not find this one on the floor locally to check.
Asked by Zorry.
- A:Answer Yes there are rollers...things I really really like is the way every thing can be seen when you open the double doors,it is so much easier to keep orderly and neat. It has about a square foot less room but feels bigger than my side by side GE. THE DRAWER IN THE FREEZER IS GREAT ROLLS WELL AND SINCE THE ICE MAKER IS IN THE LEFT DOOR OF THE TOP, THERE ISNT ANY FREEZER ROOM TAKEN UP BY THE ICE MAKER OR A BASKET TO KEEP IT. IT LOOKS GREAT. I LIKED THE LOOK OF THE ONE WITH THE THIRD DRAWER BUT NOT THE PRACTICALITY OF THE SPACE. AND OF COURSE THE COST FACTOR. I DO LIKE THE DRAWERS IN THE TOP AND BOTTOM. ONE NOTE ON THE MEASURMENTS IS THAT THE HEIGHT INCLUDES THE HINGES FOR THE DOORS THAT ARE AT THE FRONT AND MOST TIMES THEY DONT GO UNDER THE TOP CUPBOATD,

Q: QuestionI have a wall on the right side of where I have to install the refrigerator. The space that I have from the counter top to the wall is 35 1/2. When you open the right door of the fridge will the wall prevent me from using this refrigerator?
Asked by Jim.
- A:Answer Hi Jim- The width with door open 90˚ including door handle is 40 7/8". The drawers can generally be accessed with 90˚door opening but not removed. Q: Questionpower loss and the ice starts to melt where does the water go? on the floor? If the panel display goes out ( temp) will the refrigerator still hold at last temp setting?
Asked by jessie.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 23.7 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Slate
- A:Answer Hi - Thank you for your interest in a GE French door refrigerator. In the event of an extended power outage, there is a possibility the ice in the bin could melt. In most cases, the water from the ice will be contained within the ice bin but could spill out onto the floor of the freezer if the ice bin was full of ice at the time of the outage. If the failure occurs when you're at home and you see the ice is beginning to melt, you can empty the ice into a sealed storage container and place it back in the freezer. As far as the electronic panel is concerned, it depends on how the panel fails. There is a possibility the refrigerator and freezer compartments will continue to operate at your last temperature settings even though the temperatures will not display. If the electronic panel fails completely, it may affect the temperature settings as well. We hope this helps. Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionI'm looking to get this GE Refrigerator but have a concern. I've existing water connection that is within 10 feet NOT 6 as mentioned on this site. Is this an issue? Thank you!
Asked by SheikhM.
- A:Answer Home Depot seems to contradict itself about its requirements on the ice maker set up. It clearly states that the water line and shut off valve be located within 6 feet of the fridge on the same floor. However when my fridge was delivered the requirements changed and left me stranded with my brand new fridge sitting in the middle of my living room until the next open appt. a week later ! All this because they said my shut off valve was not behind the fridge stuck on the wall where they claim its supposed to be, which is B.S., my shut off was 5 feet away under my sink where any person with half a brain knows thats where it should be ,not trapped behind a 300 lb. fridge taking up needed space on a wall !
