GE - 24" Tall Tub Built-In Dishwasher - Stainless-Steel

CLEANING: Cleaning is much better than my old dishwasher -- I used to rinse everything clean before loading, but now I just load them in "as-is". (Although occasionally I have pulled out some dirty dishes even with the "steam" setting.) Once during a month of use I noticed the silverware in the utensil basket was soapy.... the basket is next to the dispenser, so I anticipate this will happen again. INSTALLATION: I had this professionally installed (not by Best Buy), but it took him longer than expected - enough for the installer to comment to me that the instructions seemed to be incorrect, and he had to undo and re-install something. Thought that was worth mentioning, although I can't give specifics. LOADING: -- The way things are angled and designed sort of forces you where to put dishes. I can only put in 2 rows of dishes in the bottom, even though there seems to be room for 3 rows of small plates. On the top, there are 5 rows for glasses/mugs, but small plates also "roll" into place in 2 rows, blocking use of the center and sides. It doesn't seem an efficient use of space. -- There are 2 silverware baskets (top and bottom). -- The silverware baskets all have hinged covers - I have removed 4 of the 6. They prop open at an angle which I find in the way. The cover to the center top basket fell off after a couple weeks of use. -- The top center utensil basket is an odd shape - silverware falls down into it, and is so thin it's hard to get things out. Overall, despite my design complaints, I am quite happy. Not having to do all the cleaning ahead of time has been such a time saver. And I am thrilled with how quiet it is. I can get used to the other things.

Dishwasher arrived broken (a small wire had been broken-off in delivery and it could not run without replacement of the part), but we didn't know until it was 95% installed and couldn't be powered. Best they would do was to replace dw with a similar model (this model was no longer in-stock) and I would have to pay for installation twice. Fortunately, I had better luck with GE, who overnighted me the part. Will not buy an appliance from BestBuy again. But, overall, this dw is working well now and we are happy with it. If you want dry dishes, you need to use the "heated dry" setting, which uses more energy and time. And the silverware baskets make me a little crazy because small items slip through. But dishes are clean and it is very quiet.

Compared to the builder grade piece I replaced, this is awesome. Some of the reviews I read are true. Such as, the detergent door does not always open completely If there is too much in front of it. Apart from that, it is fairly quiet and washes well. Even with heated dry turned off, it retains heat well enough that the dishes will still be warm in the evening after running it in the morning.

We reviewed dishwashers for 2 weeks before buying this GE. It is so quiet, you can hardly tell it it running. We are very happy with the way it cleans. So glad we stayed with GE.

The installation went smoothly, as the Best Buy tech did a perfect job. Upon running the first load, noticed that the dishes were all wet after the clean light went on. I was disappointed at first. On the second load, i decided to leave it closed for a while. Upon opening after a few hours, everything was quite dry, including the plastic containers. The dishwasher is very quiet and does not disturb our TV viewing like our old washer.

Good product, worth the money. Easy install and great performance. Great features found on more expensive models.

So far I really like this dishwasher. I like the silverware tray so every piece is separate and is always clean. Very quiet. Reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the inside seems so much smaller then the last couple dishwashers I have had-not sure why they say same size. Maybe this will help me from overloading it and everything will always come out so clean.

Dishwasher was easy to install with a professional look, it comes with the finishing pieces to fill in the gaps. The inside is deceiving, it looks small but holds a lot of dishes. It also runs incredibly quiet, I can talk on the phone while it is running and still hear! The only drawback (?) is the length of the cycles, but with the spotless results I can't complain.
