Q: QuestionMounting under granite countertopAre special brackets needed to install this dishwasher under a granite or Corian countertop?
Asked by Patrick.
- A:Answer Hello Patrick, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. If the countertop is granite or a similar material that will not accept wood screws. You will want to use the side mounting brackets. Break off the front portion of the tab with pliers at the location shown, prior to attaching to the dishwasher. Refer to the installation instructions for complete instructions. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

Q: Questiondoes it have very strong smell when new and for how long? When new, does this dishwasher have a strong chemical, plastic, or rubber type smell for the first several uses and if so how long did it take for the smell to fade? We have a young child wIth asthma and have to be very careful because new products like this can sometimes give her troubles. Would appreciate as many responses as possible. Thanks!
Asked by js.
- A:Answer Hello js - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. During the initial use, you may detect a distinctive smell that is attributed to tub material, chlorine bleach in detergent and the smell of rinse aid. This is normal and the smell will tend to dissipate during normal use. We would not consider this to be a very strong smell. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Questionmanufacturer responsesI am researching dishwashers and notice responses from the manufacturer on the positive comments but none when I feel there is a legimate complaint. The one I picked apparently does not have replacement parts available on the motherboard guess im notmpicking that one and starting over. I get that not all units will be perfect but to have a new item already not have replacement parts available is cause for concern . Any comment GE and or BEST BUY who by now is aware of this issue.
Asked by pinkp.
- A:Answer Hello pinkp - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We're sorry to hear that the dishwasher you like apparently had some parts on backorder. While this is an unusual occurrence, it has happened occasionally. I understand your concern with hearing a negative comment regarding an appliance you may have an interest in. We can assure you that GE is committed to quality and should an unusual situation occur, we take action on a case-by-case basis. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
