Overall, this is a really nice refrigerator. The available size is incredible. Our old fridge with side by side frig/freezer always seemed to be packed tight. Every time I look in this fridge, there is always some space. Solid construction and nice stainless finish.
As you may have seen, there are probably two issues with this fridge, but I think both are fixable. First, the ice chute is a poor design. It is too short and does not direct the ice to the glasses so you get random ice cubes shooting out onto the floor. This annoyed me at day one, and as an engineer, I couldn’t have this and we weren’t returning the fridge. So designed a 3D printed adapter to attach in seconds on to the existing ice chute to lengthen it and also provide slants internally to direct the ice to the chute. I posted this on Etsy (dot com) if you want to buy one (Search "GE Refrigerator Ice Chute Adapter"). Not a business for me so priced to make it worth my while, well actually my kids as they will manage printing and mailing it.
Second issue is the compressor sound. It is not always noisy through out the day but there are times when the compressor is fully running and I would say it is louder than the typical fridge. But GE makes good compressors compared to LG and some others so would rather have a bit noisier over cheaper quality. I haven’t done it yet, but I plan to by a roll of mass loaded vinyl (on amazon, about $100) and cut some sheets to size and stick them on the walls of the compressor chamber. I will also put a sheet under the fridge, and against the back drywall of the alcove. Maybe even case the gaps between the fridge and side wall with some trim wood and cover that with MLV on back side. Just need to go up in height just above the compressor compartment. I am pretty sure this will significantly cut down on the sound. Will try to report back with results once done.
So in short, great fridge except the things I pointed out but both fixable for under $125. Decent investment for a fridge you will have for at least then next 10-15 years I think.
This fridge is simply gorgeous, I love the Slate color. This is my first bottom fridge and I’m surprised how big it is. I finally can fit a large tray on a shelf. I would recommend this over the more expensive options.
Love having this refrigerator. One thing that I should have researched before purchasing is the reviews from other customers. OMG the finger prints on this stainless steel is such a pill. I find that i'm constantly wiping it down
I purchased open box and thought I was getting a deal, but difficult to get through the front door of my house. Had to remove doors...which aren’t suppose to be removed. Aesthetically, nice. Functionality 3.5 out of 5.
Received great service and had things installed. Sales person was great, Very helpful in finding us the right appliances. The installers were also great. Worked fast and cleaned up there areas very well. Great job people
be aware that if you are replacing a much older fridge, this one is taller by about two inches in the back, hinge height wasn't a problem. We had to adjust the cabinet box and doors, reduced the height by three inches, so the fridge would fit. Not a real problem with the appliance, just check your dimensions three times.
A:AnswerI believe this GE refrigerator has a 1 year warranty.
Here is my understanding of french-door refrigerator warranties:
• GE, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Frigidaire – only 1 year
• GE Profile and Café models – 5 years part & labor on sealed refrigerating system
• LG – 7 years sealed-system parts, 10 years compressor (parts)
• Samsung – 10 years compressor part, 5 year compressor labor, 5 years sealed system parts+labor,
Warranties may vary by model.
A:AnswerHi Dipan, was your refrigerator delivered new in box or open box? If your fridge was delivered new in box there should be a filter included. If your fridge was delivered open box there may not be a filter or bypass filter plug installed. Make sure that your water is turned on and that the fridge has a filter or bypass filter plug installed. If there is not filter or plug installed the water and ice dispenser will not function. According to the manual a filter or bypass plug is required for ice and water dispenser to function. I will attached a photo from the manual that displays this information. In order to obtain a free bypass plug you can contact GE and they can ship you one. Make sure to take note of what style filter or bypass plug you need because there are a few styles available.

A:AnswerHi Vishnu, thanks for reaching out! Your warranty for your appliance begins from the date of original purchase. After you install your refrigerator, we would recommend waiting for 24 hours for the interior of the unit to reach the proper temperature before beginning to store food inside of the unit. We would recommend attempting to install the unit shortly after purchasing if possible. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
