Beautiful looking washer, good not great

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Cycle options, Design, Ease of useCons mentioned:BalanceAfter my workhorse 27 yr old Heavy Duty Kenmore washer finally bit the dust after getting off balance, my gut feeling after reading hundreds of reviews, was to get the GE washer model that was not He, no electronics, had an agitator and ability to control water level. (# GTW465ASNWW). When I went to purchase it, Best Buy was having a $205 off sale on this model that put it cheaper than the one I was going to buy, so I thought, why not? It is a beautiful washer. I love the gray color, the window in the top is fun to monitor what is going on and the modern look to it. The electronics if you are into that sort of thing show how much time is left in the cycle and where it is in the cycle lights up as it goes along. That part is kind of fun to use. Very easy to understand. For those who aren't thrilled with a lid lock, it has a pause button and the lid will unlock so you can add something and then you can unpause and it locks and resumes. My disappointment is with the water level. Even with the deep fill option there is not enough water added to wash out all soap (I use He Tide pods so I am not putting in too much). I would prefer a water level above the amount of clothes being washed. The picture attached is a load with additional deep fill just for reference. There is 12" from the water to the top of the basket. You put your clothes in, select the type of laundry ( normal, sheets/towels, casuals, delicate, jeans etc) and then the washer releases the soap pod and spins it to "sense" it. That's how it determines how much water to add but so far the most I've seen in this very deep basket (I have to stand on my tip toes to reach the bottom) is about 6-8" of water. On the normal clothes cycle and later the sheets/towels cycle some pieces were still barely above the water when it started. Also the 800rpm spin (no ability to adjust this except to select no spin) is a bit over the top, you'd swear it's going to take off. I am not sure how this will affect wear and tear on the clothes over the long run. It just seems a bit aggressive. Seeing white laundry soap lines on some of my dark clothes was disappointing. The aggitator is better than not having one but it really just swishes clothes back and forth. My Kenmore had a triple action that went up and down and sideways and it aggitated the clothes. I watched and the clothes eventualy make it down and around so it must cycle them somehow. I'm not loving my choice of this machine and thinking twice about the other one, but I'm willing to give it a chance. I'll keep tweaking and hopefully I can get my laundry to look and smell clean. I was hoping to be wowed but not so far. Not loving it but not hating it either. On another note, when Best Buy says it will install it, be sure to ask what that entails. We didn't have the drain they were used to, so they just delivered it and said we had to hire a plumber to complete it.

Great Machine
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Cycle optionsCons mentioned:Water fillI have read a lot of mix reviews from a LOT of different websites and YouTube and I am happy to say the positive ones were right. I wanted a washer with an agitator (this one has dual). You have to remember since it is a dual that when using smaller level of water the bottom agitator is what will move the clothes the most every wash small load or large. I really like the deep fill option. People have to remember that push it one it will add 3 gallons at a time or hold it for 3 seconds and it will max out the water level (it won't fill the tub full--it is a large tub that would be a LOT of water). Plus HE even with agitator isn't like the old machines but I had no interest in front loader or top machine without agitator. Some cycles don't allow you to use the deep fill option but i am okay with that I change the option I am using. Great that you can change options while going through the process. People complained that the lid locks was an issue but for me not (it only locks when in middle of running for protection but it has a pause button so you can throw in a missed piece of clothes). One thing I would recommend is people give the machine time to learn all the options and read the manual to understand everything.

A Purchased PUNISHMENT
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality1 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5Cons mentioned:Balance, Spin cycleThis is THEE WORST washing machine I have ever used. It ook 6 hours to wash a blanket! It always says that it is leveling, continues to fill, drain, and refill with water due to off balance spinning....JUST HORRIBLE! I feel like I have throw my money down the drain. I am too late to return it because my brain radiation schedule has had me so wiped out to give it any attention, plus COVID. I would not recommend this to ANYONE! EVER! I actually removed the soaking wet clothes, placed them in my old washer to spin while holding the drain hose over the sink by hand. That's how desperate I was. Please pray for my health and sanity. This feels like a purchased punishment.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Pros mentioned:Cycle optionsI love my washer. Lots of space. My favorite feature is knowing the time for each cycle. There is no guessing or estimating. I love the clear glass. It give you the front load feel with top load. The large size allows you put more in and cut your loads in half.

Prompt service by Sebastien @ Port Charlotte store
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendWould have been dissuaded from Best Buy for life, had it not been for SEBASTIEN JOSEPH at Port Charlotte store. We recently ordered a GE Washer & Dryer from Best Buy Port Charlotte store but were disheartened and petrified with the experience as they weren’t delivered on the said day and we were not even intimated about the unavailability of one of the two items earlier than the day of delivery. On calling and inquiring, Best Buy apologised for no intimation, compensated a little and confirmed a new date which was after two weeks. When the items FINALLY arrived after couple of weeks, things were still in total disarray; delivery man informed one item was unboxed as it was probably on display and that one of our electric sockets wasn’t working (it was fine earlier as machines were installed there previously too), when I asked him to check with a detector, he told me he had none. Isn’t it surprising to know the installation guy has no appropriate tools on him? Specially since we had inquired about it at the store regarding the right attachments (two or three pronged sockets, pipes, hose etc) which were ordered as well and we were additionally informed that incase something was missing or if it required an adjustment then the delivery truck is equipped with it. The delivery guy then rushed things up; installed a short drain hose which didn’t fit right so was unable to check if the machine worked, not to forget the socket he said wasn’t working too. Long story short, the machines were left as is. Totally frustrated with such an incompetent delivery after waiting for two weeks, I call up Best Buy but was kept me on a long hold. By this time, me being a layman was able to check that the socket was working fine so the machine turned on but due to the inadequate hose ofcourse I couldn’t run it still. Though we had never met but still I emailed SEBASTIEN JOSEPH (Back Office Leader) whose name was printed on the visiting card handed to us by one of the Best Buy members with some info on the back of it when I had last visited the store. Not only he called me up within no time of receiving my email, he patiently heard the entire issue and resolved it. The very next day, he accompanied a Geek Squad rep. GRANT (hands on and well-informed) to fix the issue and supervise the matter. Honestly, we were so done with the whole incident that had decided to bid farewell to Best Buy for good but only due to SEBASTIEN JOSEPH's prompt action, we changed our stance. We are very thankful to him and GRANT from the Geek Squad for handling the matter with true professionalism. Best Buy should be glad to have such competent members onboard.

Need the deep fill option for HE washers
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5So far I love this washer except for the "Normal, colors" setting...why can't I select the deep fill option on that setting? You definitely want to always use the deep fill setting (adds around 3 more gallons according to the instructions) so all the clothes are under water.

Q: QuestionWhat is the end of cycle signal, and can it be turned off? We’re trying to avoid a new appliance with a loud jingle at the end of it.
Asked by Charlie.
- A:Answer The end of cycle signal sounds like you just got the high score in a Mario game. Not like days past when it is a crazy loud buzzer. I don't know if you can turn it off but it isn't loud

Q: Questiondoes this model have an option for gentle or reduced spin to help minimize wrinkles for clothes that you hang dry?
Asked by Elsee.
- A:Answer Hello Elsee, Thank you for your question. This model does not have a reduced or gentle spin. While you can not directly set the spin cycle, settings such as "Delicates" will allow a more gentle spin cycle as opposed to "Towles". We do apologize for the inconvenience and hope this helps.
