Customers love the color-changing feature of the CYNC 6 Inch Wafer Smart LED Downlight Fixture, with many praising the variety of color selections. However, some customers have experienced random resets of their lights, which can be frustrating.
I own about 60 cync devices ... light stips, wafers, motion dimers, light bulb, etc. Overall, when they are working as intended, I like them a lot. The lights are bright, the remote control features and color selections are nice. Unfortunately they have one big problem! Multiple lights reset themselves randomly and i have to reprogram them. I have already returned 2 lights to GE/Cync for replacement. I have at least 2 more that I need to get replaced. It seems like more of a software issue than a hardware one but they always end up telling me I need to send it in to get a replacement. The support team is always nice and compitent. It does bother me that they dont want to do advanced replacements and want me to do the work twice to relace it (once to remove it, then wait 2 weeks and go back to install the new one). Overall, if i was reselecting a product to standardize on, it wouldnt be this one. It has a lot of ootential but theybreally need to get their bugs fixed before i could recommend this to anyone in good consciense.

These lights area a huge pain. Physical installation is pretty easy but that is the extent of the good part. Setting them up in the app takes much longer than it should but eventually, after going through the process of INDIVIDUALLY setting up every light (when you have dozens, it adds up), they work and you feel life is great. Soon the problems start and here is my experience after 15 months of use: 1. randomly different lights would just disconnect from the app, so you have to go through the laborious process of delete + add the light back into the group (it takes time) and then adjust the color. 2. randomly, individual lights start to flicker on/off and eventually turn off completely - you have to turn off the group of lights it is in (cut the power, not soft-off) and wait a long while - this sometimes fixes it for a couple of days. 3. there is something wrong with the wafer connection to the junction box, like static build-up or similar because, when those flickers keep coming back, or the light keeps turning off even though it should be on, disconnecting the wafer from the junction box and re-connecting it fixes the issue for a longer period (eventually it'll happen again). 4. The light intensity is much lower when you use a color: I guess the white LEDs are much stronger than the individual red/green/blue LEDs, so a green color will be much fainter at max than the white, even when you combine the red+green+blue, it'll be significantly lower than the white shades.

Utter trash. Things started out well - the install was easy, the app integration is as clunky as competitors, color-changing was a hit with my son. But as with everything, I gave it time for a final verdict. Ten months later, and this thing is buggy like you would not believe. Two wafers installed, and one or the other randomly stops responding. Other times, they will flash wildly. Sometimes they get out of phase and respond in an alternating pattern. Been thru the reset process at least once a month for the past 6 months. Sometimes using the switch, and once dragging myself up to the attic to reset using the plug as described in troubleshooting steps. I put a node from my mesh network in the very same room to ensure a good wifi connection. Reached out to customer svc to make a claim. After many multiple emails exchanged, I give up. GE won. For the record, at the same time I installed Home Depot's house brand wafers in the neighboring room. They've been absolutely flawless at a third of the price.
