Don't listen to any negativity.
Posted .I understand How GOW 1 players felt about GOW 2 when it first came out, BUT THIS GAME IS NOTHING LIKE GOW 1 or GOW 2. They pretty much completely eliminated Lag with dedicated servers. And when the servers were temporarily down which was for about 5 hours, the put on host migration so the game cannot end when host rage quits. GOW 1 has ENORMOUS shotgun lag, and GOW 2 pretty much fixed that in their latest update, but it still however has its own enormous lag to fix. I Play both GOW 1 and GOW 2 enough to know what I a talking about, I'm a lvl 100 on GOW 2. But GOW 3 has stolen my heart and I CANNOT wait for it to come out, and best, but also worst part about it is that the game is noob friendly, Good for the new gear gamers, bad for the veterans such as myself, the newbies will learn to only use the SAWED OFF and thats not good. the gnasher takes the most skill and SAWED OFF in my opinion should only be used when enraged lol. However, If you wanna rock this game real hard, i would recommend Playing and getting good or atleast fairly good at GOW 2. My skills in GOW 2 make me rock GOW 3 because in my opinion, since there is little to none lag in GOW 3, it is EASIER. and actually more fair.

So far looking to be a great game.
Posted .Now if you have played the previous gears of war titles you should know this game is bloody. There is tons of gore and fast paced action. gears of war 3 is a 3rd person cover-based shooter and is obviously by the number on the title the 3rd and supposed final installment in the series. Gears of war 3 is make some big promises over its predecessors, including dedicated online servers for online multiplayer, a revamped a smoother control experience, and new gameplay modes. Now in gears of war 3 the core mechanics are pretty much remaining the same however most are getting lots of polish. If your not a big online player gears may not be for you due to previous installments having relatively short campaigns clocking in at around 6-7 hours on normal difficulty. Gears 3 may be different though since its been delayed till september 2011 this allows lots of changes to occur. I'm looking forward to it im a big gears fan and hope to fully enjoy this final entry in the trilogy. also with a good HD tv this game is one of the most visually stunning on the xbox 360, heck even with a bad tv its pretty darn gorgeous.

This is not a zombie game
Posted .A reviewer gave this game a one star rating and no wonder he is a halo fanboy and scared of the comp. the story of the game is fantastic and all the characters have depth and self worth. They have all been developed right in front of our eyes as we play gow and you get a chance to hear and see their stories like dom trying to find his wife. This is a great game with a great story and great game mechanics. If you did not know this company created the unreal engine that everyone now uses. As for the lag the halo fanboy mentioned their was allot of that in halo reach halo3 and halo drop troopers and many other games for that matter. Once again before you critique a story line pay attention to it first because i do not understand how you see this as a zombie game cause it is not.

Brothers until the End…Sweet Sweet End (Gears of W
Posted .I have been a fan of the Gears of War series since the beginning. It actually was one of the reasons I purchased a XBOX 360. At the time I was waiting for Splinter Cell Double Agent to come out and was on the fence between upgrading my computer to play it or getting a gaming system. However, Microsoft and Ubisoft stated that the next game after Double Agent (the game that eventually became Splinter Cell Conviction) would be console exclusive to the XBOX 360. Then I started seeing gameplay for Gears of War and I was sold on the system. While initially the game was supposed to be released in the Spring of 2010, Epic Games, the producers of the series decided to delay the launch to polish the game more. However, over the course of the following months since the announcement was made, the marketing campaign offered the tagline “Brothers till the end…” It was really targeting everyone to talk about how this was the end of the trilogy. Gameplay: If you have not played Gears of War prior to this game, the story may be a little lost to you as well as some of the gameplay mechanics but the game’s pop up tutorials are some of the best and allow for a quick pick up of the gaming mechanics. Each time you pick up a weapon or interact with something for the first time, a tutorial will pop up in the corner to talk about what you are doing and how to do it. However, having played the series before, I really found it an ease to pick up. Also, the game is a traditional third person cover shooter. This means you have the over the shoulder view of your player character and you can find cover and hide behind it. Like its predecessor and most other shooters today, health is regenerated over time. If you don’t take cover and still get shot up or hit, you will die. It does a good job of keeping you moving because cover can be destroyed. Throughout the game the gear you can pick up has changed. New Weapons litter the battlefield including a different lancer and shotgun. The Retro Lancer works like the Lancer Rifle but you with a bayonet instead of a chainsaw and while the standard shotgun (Gnasher) still exists but players get a chance to experience the sawed off version of it. Several new heavy weapons also litter the landscape. A new sniper rifle with a one shot kill called the “One Shot” (pretty self-explanatory) and a two new mini-gun turrets. Overall, the greatest new battlefield experience to grace the game is the addition of the Silverback, a mech like armored weapon system. The weapons are much more balanced than in previous games and they are much more defined, it really allows for an enjoyable experience. A new gameplay feature if the ability to level up while playing solo in the campaign. Multiplayer in previous Gears of War outings allows for you to level up at all times but now you can do it while playing by yourself. Of course you can co-op with up to four friends now as well. Multiplayer has a new mode called Beast mode where players get the chance to act aas the locust attacking human strongholds. It is a very fun mode and I greatly enjoyed playing it. Having not played Horde mode in Gears of War 2, I tried it for the first time in Gears 3 and it is a lot of fun. It’s a great experience and I really enjoy the game mode. Overall, the game feels refined and by far the best outing of the series. I believe that the extra time they took to polish the game really shines. It gives a chance for people to unlock new skins for their weapons and player character. I enjoy this more than rewarding people with new powerful weapons like the Call of Duty or Battlefield series that gives people with more time to play the game as opposed to those playing more casually. Story: One of the most powerful stories I have seen in a video game. It has all the great elements of a fantastic movie but keeps them spread apart. Subtle comments lead to giant changes. While some players who have not played the game series before, may not exactly understand the initial story. However, the game does a great job explaining what is happening and how the people of Sera have got to where they are during this game. The story is well done and matches that of a Hollywood blockbuster. Fans of the series or new players will find the story to be an emotional and powerful story that ends the series well. I don’t want to give away a lot but there are times you sit watching a cinematic and you can’t say anything. You just stare at the screen at what just happened and feel for the characters as they move along in the story. Voice acting is great and honest. The script really worked out well as the lines, while intermingled with curse words, provides humor, sadness, anger and compassion. Throughout the game you feel as if you are part of the action because the story brings you in. My only issue with the story is there are several unanswered questions from the previous games. I really enjoyed the story and had hoped that more of the previous hints and small comments that generated questions would be answered. I hope that in the DLC that is coming out, more and more of the questions from the previous games will be answered. Presentation: The game is beautiful. Traveling through the dunes of the Seran desert or the tropics and beaches of Sera, you find yourself immerse in the scenery. Its gorgeous and others who don’t play games can notice it. Morgan, my Fiancé, watched the game and really enjoyed it. Her reaction was that it was a great action paced game that was beautiful to watch. She would often look up and watch the game as I played. She doesn’t often find the games I play to be enjoyable or fun to watch. Overall: Overall, this is one of the greatest game I have played in a long time. The story continues the mythos that is generated from the first games. This game shows how to close out a group of characters and to effectively finish a trilogy of games. With its beautiful presentation, new gameplay features and improvement on previous games, this is how game companies need to remember their games should be done. My hats off to the Epic games and everyone who worked on Gears of War 3. Thank you for making an amazing game. For anyone who owns a XBOX 360 this game is a definitive purchase as the gameplay and story are some of the best I have ever seen.

Best EVER!
Posted .i have been a halo fan, Gears of war fan, COD fan for a long time i even know that the sony psx was the system that was going to have halo thank god microsoft took over :) epic games has created a game that changed all gaming with Gears Of War, No other game has ever had gore like it EVER. not one game before this had graphics where if you shot someone in the head the head would burst into peaces, this game has extreme amounts of blood and gore. then gears of war 2 came out there were many bugs in both gears of war and gears of war 2 but as time went by most of the bugs get fixed and the game comes to life for the real gamer. Gears of War 3 is going to be the best of the 3, there is a beta coming out with Bulletstorm on February 22, 2011. the way the Gears of war games are played is a over the shoulder 3rd person shooter. take cover and climb over cover. GOW3 will be one of the best games of 2011.

Great game over all
Posted .I have been reading a lot of the reviews on here and think that its funny that there are people knocking this game. First of all this game is nothing like GOW 1 or 2, i admit i did not play GOW1 a lot but i have played it online and hated how you stuck to the walls, Then i switched to GOW2 and i liked that alot but there were a lot of down falls Host and there laggy connections, the god awful 2 piece you know who you are LOL, and then the most annoying thing ever at the end of the match and the host RAGE QUITS cause there losing on there connection (happens a lot when i play with a team) but there are great things about it too like the wall bouncing and if your good with your main weapons that you start with. I have seen a lot of people posting that its a shotgun game well for those of you that think that you don't play the game enough if you get into a so called "TRY HARD" match you don't use the shotty that often mainly lancer and hammerburts. GOW3 is a great game from the beta stand point "That's why it's called a BETA there are still things that need to be worked on and thats why EPIC released it to the gamers early so they can fix and adjust everything. The gameplay is totaly diffrent it takes both GOW1 and GOW2 and mixes them togather the characters run diffrent also the gameplay is very smooth if there is lag they have host migration which is great. The new weapons are great too. i agree with everyone else that it is noob friendly the retro lancer and the sawed off shotty are cheap the retro is way too powerful and the sawed off can take out 4 players at once i know cause i did it, little unrealistic i think so but hey thats why its a video game and a great one at that. The graphics are amazing. I can't wait for the game to come out, EPIC keep it up i can't wait to see the games you guys make in the future.

Top of 2011
Posted .I have been playing the beta and the im guessing the final product will be really polished. The story mode is said to be the longest of the series. This game should be a must buy for xbox 360 owners.

Completion to the best trilogy in gaming
Posted .campaign: Its finally here..and it was so worth the wait. What a lot of people will find with this installment is how well it controls and how fun and replayable it is due to the better level. What most fans are gonna see, is how the story actually gets somewhere and is pretty much completely awesome, how the characters are wayy better handled, and how much you actually care about whats goin on. In fact, the characters are for the most part the strongest thing about the game. Theres also a part where the music will send a chill down your spine and a lump in your throat. But bein such a massive gears fan, i wouldve liked to see a bigger ending, but to be fair, it was plausible and climactic enough and overall made since so i was ultimatley fine with it, especially the very last few moments before the credits role which were great. now for the multiplayer: now im not a big multiplayer person. In fact, the only game i ever really got into the multiplayer was Black ops, and lost interest after about a week. But this stuff is good, REALLY good. The action runs at a fast and smooth pace, the one liners from the characters put a smirck on your face, and its all just a blast. Overall this is the VERY BEST Gears game and is immensley satisfying.
