Priced to allow consumers to get a couple of these smart plugs and very cool. Best of all is how simple it is to use. Starting from the time I opened the box and actually read the instructions, I had the smart plug operating in under ten minutes. I can see people using this for lamps the most. It works with other smart devices such as Alexa, Cortana, and Google Assistant. I don't have one of the smart light bulbs, but the instructions say you can change the color of the bulb from the Geeni app. It probably will not matter to most people, but just wanted to note that it can only run off the 2.4 GHz wi-fi frequency. There was one time I unplugged the device and moved it to a different location. When I plugged the device in a different outlet and attempted to turn on a lamp, the app kept telling me the wi-fi signal wasn't strong enough. I ended up having to remove the smart plug device from the app and add it back. A little annoying but I don't anticipate people moving the plug around very often.

The Geeni provides smart plug features over wi-fi and is entirely compatible with Alexa/Google. Set up is simple--create account, name device, turn on/off. If you have Alexa/Google you then link it to your Alexa/Google accounts. You can also download app on android/IOS for remote control by phone. Any electrical device can be controlled, but I use only for lighting and computer printer. I have four Geenis and they all work well with no problems. If you want a low-priced smart plug that works well, get this one. It is a Chinese product, but provides very good help/support.

I purchased this smart outlet to control a power strip that some of my little-used entertainment center devices plug into (network switch used to connect TV and dvd player to web for firmware updates and to stream NETFLIX). Also plugged into this device are a pair of security cameras that are used only when I leave home. The Geeni smartplug is configured for voice control via Google Home Assistant. Setup was straightforward. Since I already have linked several 3rd party accounts to Google Home Assistant, that part of setup for the Geeni smart plug went very smoothly. Everything worked on the first try. Now I am saving electricity by running some devices only when needed. That was the original motivation for buying the Genni smart outlet. Happy with my purchase. Purchase online from Best Buy, and shipping was free. Amazed that shipping was free, considering how little I paid for this. Most stores, even on ebay, still require a minimum purchase of at least $25 to get free shipping.
